Thank you so very much for the tutorial on using pivot table. I have tried watching other tutorial but yours is the best. the pace, explanation and examples is so easy to follow. You are the best teacher. Thanks again
Fantastic video presentation. I'm a novice when it comes to Excel. The way you calmly and carefully explain and point out everything is amazing! I know I can use Excel now to compile the data from my recent survey. Thanks.
Thank you soooo much for this tutorial. I am a week behind in submitting my data for one of my assignments due to not knowing how to get started. It is for my Capstone research paper the last one before I graduate on 12-14-2024. Blessings
Everyone has said it but I have to add my bit. This is the best series of teaching videos I have seen in a long while. The pace is calm, no techy jargon, illustrations make sense. Thank you sooo much. Do you have a video for side by side comparison?
Thank you so much, I had all this data and could't figure out how to sort it out. You are a life saver ! I love the cat a lovely addition to a stressful situation thank you
Thank you so much Sir. This was really helpful to me. I'm carrying a research of primary data entry. This was indeed a saviour for me and your guidance was the best source of grabbing the knowledge.
Thanks a million for posting this super useful tutorials, as they will help on my data analytics and marketing masters I am trying to finish during my lockdown. Once more, thanks a lot. (Cute pretty cat you have;)!! ). Dan xx
I need to transfer my scores from a written pre and post survey to excel. I am using a likert scale for my answers. Your video was very informative, and easy to follow, but it's more for multiple choice, yes? what do you suggest for likert scale, and how do I show pre and post side to side in order to measure impact.
Thx. My video is a bit slow, but viewers can always increase the speed via RUclips's settings for each video. Also, in this video, my voice is a little weak. I remember that I had a cold. That problem is difficult to correct via RUclips's settings though :-)
With this method I used it to analyze data from a mountain bike trail demographic and community impact research project and it had amazing results. Even potentially getting published in my local paper. Thank you for saving my ass haha
This is helpful; thank you! I have a question though: what is the solution when one of the coded fields was not selected by any participants (so it does not show in the data) and hence isn't shown on the pivot table but I want it to show that there were 0 participants in that field (e.g. if age 10-12 is coded as 1 but no participants were aged 10-12, how do I still show that as a 0 on my pivot table and chart?)
very helpful sir.... kindly guide me how to represent healtcare survey data using statistical formula.... or rather which formula should I use for healthcare data.
Fantastic video helped me a lot with my project much appreciated!! Was just wondering how can I find out the valid percentage and cumulative percentage of my figure?? Thanks
thanks for the video.. but can u tell me.. if the same data is exported to SPSS... how the Multiple answers to be fed...when every option is considered as separate question as yes/no answers in excel? e.g.. like q2a, q2b, q2c.... in this video. kindly help.
thank you sir ....please can u suggest how can i learn data entry and coding i am a nursing student and have to do coding of quaestions of patient survey but i am not able to do coding of open ended responses.
Thank you for this, Kent. So well done! One question having to do with first ENTERING date in the cells: If a respondent skips a question and puts in no response, should you leave all cells blank in that question, or must you assign a value for "no response" or "left blank"? It would be easier to leave it blank, if I can.
Hi Kent, thanks for this video! When you create your pivot table - if you have 7 answers to your questions which you code 1-7, but no one puts an answer in for what you would have coded as '3' is there a way to represent this on your pivot table and then in your graph? I can't figure it out! Thanks!
This is great and so easy to follow, thank you! I have one question though - please keep in mind I am excel illiterate! I tried to enter results of a check list created for an evaluation I conducted - some activities evaluated were based on an action plan and the activities were ranked according to how well they were conducted, answer options were: 0 (Not applicable) 1 Very well 2) Well 3) Moderate 4) Poor 5) Very poor - when inserting my pivot table only options 2, 3 & 4 appear - yet one person answered 1 - how do I ensure my the table created shows all options given? Even if a rank was not given I would like the option to show in the table
Hello, thanks for the detailed video. It's very helpful. I have a survey question that lists the "order of importance" where I have asked the recipient to put in order from 1-4 their choice. How do I enter that data to make a pivot table to show which is the best choice to least choice?
Don't know how to make it with the aid of a pivot table. This type of question also has another problem: what about those participants that only list 2 or 3 (not all 4)? Tricky, indeed. One way around this, could be to count the number of 1:s for each of the for things. Then make a bar char with four bars, one for each thing. And then let the total count for each thing govern the height of each bar. Just a thought. Good luck with your project.
Thank you for your careful explanations. Is there not a way to make Excel default to your cosmetic preferences instead of taking the time to apply them every single time you generate a new chart?
Good questions! Yes, right-click on your masterpiece, and chose Save As Template, I think it is. Good luck! Saves a ton of time. Should have included that in my video... well, well, maybe in the next one ;-)
Hi Kent, on your pivot table in the video the word "data" appears on mine the word "table one" appears. I am not getting the correct results. Why is this happening?
Love ur video Can u plz teach for open ended questions and also for nutritional status related data and household survey data where too many respondents from one household
Hey this video series has been super helpful for my research, thanks! However, I was hoping someone might be able to tell me how to code open ended responses where responses might fit into 2 or more distinct categories. To give an example analogous to the video, say 1 respondent mentions both 'fun' and 'rewarding' but I do not want to simply categorise the response as being only one or the other.
In this video (at 7:50 an forward) I create a graph with three bars, and all bars show the number of "Yes". I think it is much cleaner (and nicer) to just make a graph with Yes :-) But of course, if you talk to other researchers, perhaps they say it is wrong. As you know, there is often many ways to present data. In summary, I don't think you still need to make a graph for the No-replies.
I click and column and the option does not appear... it asks me to put in cell numbers. Very frustating! I've coded all my work and run into a dead end.
Hi! You must have version 2007, 2010, 2013 or 2016 for this to work. (I think pivot tables where introduced with Excel version 2007.) And sometimes the PivotTable function is hard to find. For example, in old Excel versions you must first click the menu tab called "Menus", and then click the "Data" menu, and then go down and select "PivotTable".
Don't worry too much. Just focus on two key things: First, keep your figures and tables clean by avoiding any redundant information. Second, ensure consistency in their appearance-same font, font size, and overall design across the board. That will make your work look professional, and you should be good to go, unless you have a very picky supervisor or boss. ;-)
The price quotes I see are about $2,200 for student edition of SPSS software. If that is the case, a lot of different ways of doing things would be better is you simply use $2,200 software. Most people, like myself, don't have an extra $2,200 and would prefer to continue doing things related to our jobs using the software we already have installed on our computers.
the simplicity, gentleness and explicitly. I live this man!
Many thanks, you saved my life. I'm writing my dissertation and your videos were a blessing. A warm hug from a grateful grandmother.
You're very welcome!
I didn't know that Excel tutorials could be so relaxing, until yours! Thank you!
This is the best series of videos I have seen regarding excel and pivot tables. You are a great teacher!
Thank you so very much for the tutorial on using pivot table. I have tried watching other tutorial but yours is the best. the pace, explanation and examples is so easy to follow. You are the best teacher. Thanks again
Thanks! I try to make the kind of educational videos that I would like to see myself :-)
I have been doing data analysis for over two years using short cuts. I must say that you're good at this sir ❤
Fantastic..informative and enjoyable..i missed the cat though.
Thank you sooooooooooo much. At my internship they have me doing different types of sheets all day. I am so grateful for this video.
Thanku so much sir. I really enjoy your calm voice and the way you simply explain things. Thanku again so much.

Good Job mate.
Thank you sir.can you please upload a complete video on analyzing data in frontier 4.1 software(from downloading the software to interpretation)
I will have to get back to this and revise. Thanks for the video
Thanks for the video, so helpful

I researched further and found that it's OK to leave all responses in a multi-choice question BLANK if the respondent skipped that question entirely.
Very informative

how I can develop database in excel for my 130 questions.please guide
Very informative, though i disagree with your percentiles for various reasons one of which being that 48+35+16 =! 100
Hi Kent, on your pivot table in the video the word "data" appears on mine the word "table one" appears. I am not getting the correct results. Why is this happening?
Can I ask one question plz help me
I'm sharing your videos with my students to do coding and some analysis of data survey. How about testing hypothesis and p-value ?
Love ur video

Good Day Sir! Can I ask how did you interpret "No" on the checkboxes Q2? Is it the same graph as the Yes or you shouldn't do one anymore?
Do you mean at time 18:30 in this video above?
@@kentlofgren It's about 7:30 in the video, sir.
@@kentlofgren you made a graph for q2a, q2b and q2c for "Yes" category. Do I still need to make a graph for q2a, q2b and q2c for "No" Category?
