Aluminum head's are not good for dailys, definitely better off with a good set of lightly ported and Polished vortex head's, they should perform just as good as a set of stock aluminum cast! Good video, I'm glad you showed the leak down and regular comp test and determined the heads are junk and bottom end was good, most people would have scraped that engine, we Chevy boys need to survive the lt1s and earlier blocks!
Curious whereabouts you live? Around and above 200 psi seems great compared to what I’ve seen on other 350 sbc’s! I’m up around 6000 feet in elevation and my 350 was hangin out around 140 psi.
I believe that when one cylinder is low, it could possibly have been caused by a leaky injector that wasn't replaced on time which would cause fuel to wash the lubrication from that cylinder. I know that I had leaky injectors at one time on my dodge ram v8, and my #7 cylinder is about 150 psi and it misfires. I have the same OTC gauges, great minds think alike!!!!
Curious as to when you did the leak down test how you knew where top dead center was valve covers were on did it look thru spark plug whole or possibly forgot about that part

That first check was on Cylinder 2, not 8. Good video. Thanks, I've got to run this test on my 350 tonight.

Midwest around 1800 ft in elevation

If i remember correctly i bought a fairly inexpensive tool that uses the spark plug cavity and threads down, it had a measuring gauge on it
So how do you know the bottom end is good by this leakdown testsnd compression test?
Having the intake covered hanging from the hoist, in my opinion wouldn't play out too well
Rockers need to be loosened to where both valves are closed..
Dude this sucked
Keep on rollin. Performing this test sucked or the video, either way just curious
