it’s definitely interesting. Way more capability than a typical guitar, yet way less gear than any setup that could come close to rivaling it’s features. High tech yet minimalist. Depending on price, this could definitely be the most practical option for a lot of people.
My main concern with new tech like this is that any operating system, especially a proprietary one, will eventually hit end of life and there will no longer be support available for it. And it will probably happen sooner than later. Unless this really catches on, I wouldn't expect there to be any support for the OS five years from now. And if it stops working for whatever reason, you can't just take it to a luthier like you could with a 50-year-old acoustic that needs work done.
That's a great point. You have to view the purchase more as a piece of technology rather than as a typical guitar purchase -- knowing that to some extent it's going to have a lifespan. Software is becoming a more and more common part of amps and pedals these days as well. Will be interesting to see where we'll end up in 5 or 10 years.
If for some reason the app should fail… you still have a quite decent guitar you can leave putdoors on the porch and neither heat nor cold will harm. I have three carbon guitars I take with me evertwhere in any kind of weather. They are a joy to play. 😊
As someone who got screwed over buying a Hyvibe Lag guitar, this will be the next guitar I get for sure. The built in looping capabilities are immensely valuable to me. As well as the Bluetooth functionality for playing over backing tracks, and yet this one has onloaded backing tracks already. I know they sent you the guitar, but I gotta thank you for introducing me to it. Never played a carbon fiber, but the standalone smart system makes it worth it. Such a luxury.
Sorry to hear that. How'd you get screwed over? I'm really impressed with this thing. For me, it's gonna be perfect for travelling with. Since they sent it to me I wouldn't have made a video on it if I didn't like it 😅
The Lava reminds me of an Ovation composite in sound. Hopefully a road worn vintage version coming soon with retro looks and a chrome browser with 5G connectivity to make calls.
Is it only me? Although it sounds well and has a ton of capabilities, it still looks like a toy to me. There are more composite guitars out there that offer good-looking guitars. I know, in the end, it's the sound that matters but ...
I feel you. But the design is growing on me. The thing really feels like an expensive instrument, but the headstock is the one area I wish they came up with something a little different.
I remember vinyl records and they were a bit rubbish, CDs were way better when they came out. I can see a new generation of carbon fans who will be told in 40 years how much better wood is. Carbon is better and the future but wood is kinda nice.

For sure. I think it's a legit option for a lot of people. But I'll definitely be taking this thing whenever I travel.

There’s plenty of old tech that enthusiasts have made homebrew software for years after. The fact that it has internet connectivity would allow this.

Got one since august 2022 and love it, easy to play, easy to clean and care. I use it turned off most of the time. Sound is pretty smooth.
Even as a standalone guitar without all the smart functionality it's killer 🙌

I have the lava me 1, the more travel sized guitar. But I’ve been saving up for the lava me 3 that I’m hoping to get soon
Nice! I can definitely see this being an upgrade!
mine is on the way
Bathtub Guitar!
Edit: Sounds lovely though, and the looping features sound useful
Hahaha 😂
This thing scares me.
Hahaha, I can understand why 😅
I have the lava me 2, waiting on delivery for the me 3.
How do you get it fixed if something happens to it?

I thought the same thing! Ovations were really popular when I was younger but I don't see 'em much now. Hahaha, imagine? 😂
What's that song you're playing at the 11min mark??
This would be the perfect travel guitar if it can fold
Yeah, folding would be handy for sure. I'm not personally a fan of my guitars being able to fold though 😅
great for buskers.
Totally!
Hmmm interesting. Thanks for making this video.
Thanks for watching!
What song is being played at 13:44? It sounds similar to a section of the song “Somebody Like You” by Keith Urban
Nailed it! It’s just the little opening riff that’s played on a banjo normally I think 😅

It does look like a toy, but built like an adult toy. Wait, that came out wrong...
Wow....might me expensive😢
£1,300

Their picks are too thick.
