I do wish the algorythm was a more agressive. I would love the target to be lower. I don't like it sitting in the 180's overnight and doing very little to get me back down to target. I am asleep I shouldn't have to wake up to check that it is doing what it should be doing.
T1, OP5 and G7 on manual mode. I'm getting 88-92% on average TIR. I fiddle with my basal program maybe once a month. I bolus for food and maybe do one correction per day on average. I have 3 or 4 low warnings per week, but never anything scary. I just dip below 70 with a horizontal arrow now and again. Two swigs of juice generally fixes the issue. I usually turn down basal by approx. 50% for strenuous exercise depending on IOB. I also always have juice near me when exercising. The bit of information that most commenters don't include is daily insulin volume. Mine is currently about 40 units per day. Not sure why this information seems to be so closely guarded??? Overall I treat the OP5 like MDI with the significant benefits of micro dosing, being able to inject from the PDM, and having control over my basal rate throughout the day. I've never been automated. I sort of like knowing exactly what is going on. It probably isn't that much more work either. You still have to bolus for meals. You still have to deal with exercise issues. It seems that the only significant thing that automation does is do corrections (and turn off basal rate when going low). Then there are the Loop systems with tons of settings and customizations. That's still dealing with diabetes. You can make lots of decisions about how much insulin goes into your body directly or you can make lots of decisions about how your "automated" delivery system is going to make decisions about how much insulin goes into your body indirectly. Six of one and a half dozen of the other. The point for many seems to be expending the least amount of brain time on diabetes. I don't know.... I see no way around it. If you have T1, you gotta think about it. That being said, for kids and teens and the aged... automation like OP5 might be the better way. 70% TIR is certainly better than 50%.
I like not having the tubes. I think Insulet Omnipod needs a good competition. If there was another tubeless pump & sync w dexcom G7 in one app I would switch. I feel some of their system logic is not current & needs updated. I have made several suggestions. I feel they are slow to make updates to make things more friendly or available ie: sync with G7, adding iphone app compatibility. Probably will be a while before G7 is compatible.
The best thing omnipod 5 could do would be to open up and share there api so dyi could use those pods. If I could use trio and go on a walk without my phone it would be perfect. Also stop the beeping. Having 3 devices all beeping at you is crazy (pod, pdm, and phone)
T2 here. I used Omnipod since Dash and then the 5. I switched to Tandem Mobi because there was no iPhone support at the time. I am still not convinced that iPhone and Dexcom G7 support will ever come to fruition.
This is the most ridiculous stuff I have ever heard. I've been in technology for over 30 years. The OmniPod is certified for use with any FDA approved u-100 fast acting insulin, but not with any FDA approved CGM. It's model specific. Which makes no sense other than it's a money grab of some kind. The system should poll the CGM for its ID and authenticate it. That's it. What is so f(*&ing difficult? The system only requires a glucose reading. They are making out to be this big thing when it isn't. Based on what you explained in the video, I'm not impressed with this system at all. And when a new iPhone comes out, the app won't work with it? Seriously? Seems like they have outsourced the development of the software which is causing insane bottlenecks. The device is crap technology and a garbage company managing it. Looks like another company taking advantage of diabetics.
Fully agree. Unfortunately for us, the number of DIY compatible pumps is practically two (Dash and Dana-i) whereof one (Dash) is slowly being phased out. Other than that, nothing beats DIY.
Practically speaking. Not all Bluetooth transmitters are created equal. Not all sensors have the same accuracy. Both do influence how the pumps control law works. Each combination of sensors and pumps do need to be shown to work together. In short more sensor options is more expensive. However, how much more and why they don’t do this is anyone’s guess.
Wedo not need this fake sensor and your tactics to use a buy different sensors . This does not bring any change we do not need your companies CGM all of you you areerochants you all think of how you collect money.
Why you are loghining is not clear for me it seems like you are joking by people be wise kind but if you r making for the sake of money you will be disliked by your deeds.

Omnipod 5 is not aggressive enough for me had high bg levels so I have gone back to MDI
I hear early next year
The best thing omnipod 5 could do would be to open up and share there api so dyi could use those pods.
Are you from US
Yep!
I dislike when companies take advantage of diabetics.
Fully agree. Unfortunately for us, the number of DIY compatible pumps is practically two (Dash and Dana-i) whereof one (Dash) is slowly being phased out. Other than that, nothing beats DIY.
And remember, it's a wireless device. They can shut off your insulin flow at will.
DASH is still very much alive and the only pump available in many areas!
I wish Omni Pod 5 had a place to see total insulin in pump at all times. You have to wait until you are below 50 units to see data ………..WHY?
open source > all
Wedo not need this fake sensor and your tactics to use a buy different sensors . This does not bring any change we do not need your companies CGM all of you you areerochants you all think of how you collect money.
Why you are loghining is not clear for me it seems like you are joking by people be wise kind but if you r making for the sake of money you will be disliked by your deeds.
