Great video- It’s probably worth mentioning that in the 8 Efforts of Movement we only alternate the weight, the speed, and the direction and flow ALWAYS as a pair.
So “punching” or thrusting is HEAVY- FAST- BOUND/DIRECT. (You cannot have an effort of movement that is bound and indirect -they always go together as Bound/Direct, and Free/Indirect.)
You can use this technique in pair scenes- where A is Punching, B may be Slashing in defensive response. Where A is Dabbing, B may Flick them away.
You can use it to physicalise situations with text too- A (parent) is nagging (PRESSING) B (child) to get ready for school, but they are worrying (WRINGING) about the test they have and delaying.
