    The way you give examples, repeat main terms, and encourage your students - even when we're not present with you - really excellent teaching! Thank you!

    The perfect lesson on Laban's 8 Efforts done in 6 and half minutes! Impressive!

    Perfectly done. The first dancer I have seen who really does them correctly and easily distinguishable from each other. Thank you very much!

    I just took an intensive workshop of this technique. The way you explain & demonstrate the working actions here is extremely helpful in better understanding Yat’s approach. Thank you so much for uploading this!

    We're using Laban movement efforts for music ensemble conducting. It's really blowing my mind how universally these efforts can be used! Dance, theatre, conducting, ... wow!!!

    LMA have always been confused me and it's been year now that I didn't dare to go and read more about it. Luckily my course convener shared your link with me and it all made absolute sense to me. I feel so much in awareness of how my clients and I've been moving since last year as dance movement psychotherapist trainee.

    Heavy is the negative of weight. Weight is strong or light. All the motion factors have negatives. You can read further into this by researching Yat’s extension of Laban Movement Psychology

    These are actually the Effort Action Drives, and is part of the larger study of Effort. They are frequently mis-described and just "efforts." Also, "heavy" is not an expression of energy, it's a reaction to gravity. It's better to say "strong" or "firm touch."

    • @davidmiera942
      @davidmiera942 Год назад

      Yes this is so. I thought Punch's flow was free, though (not bound). And that Flow for Glide was bound (not free). Here in this video it's the contrary of what I thought. Could you also clarify on that please? Was I confused, or is this video wrong? Thank you very much in advance if you read this and are so kind to answer

    Quite simply the best explanation of the four components and eight efforts. Your charts are amazing. And having you demonstrate each effort in front of your chart gives us all the information we need. I am sharing your video link with my students. Thank you, Tehya.

    The proper terms for Weight Effort are Strong and lLight. You can substitute firm for strong if you like, but heavy is NOT a quality of weight. Rather it is associated weight sensing or passive weight.

    Martial Arts Notation is more simple, more readable, more useful ...it's time specific and writable! The innovation consists in it not insisting on specifying the details of a move an artist should already know. It thus gives the artist freedom of interpretation. Via the innovation of applying the percussive full stroke to movement notation, it cuts out excessive symbolism. The symbols are notes not a myriad of pictograms! No need to re invent the wheel... simply bring the wheel to the cart! M.S.
