This vacuum is designed so that the beater brush will not run when in the upright position. The back release has to be operated with your foot and the upper part of the vacuum has to be tilted before the beater brush will run. On the lower left side is silver gray pedal that engages and disengages the beater brush. I thought the belt on mine had streched until I installed a new belt and actually looked at how it operates.
I want to thank you for the instructional video. Today was my first time ever opening a vacuum cleaner. I was nervous about possibly breaking it. You paid attention to the tricky parts and you didn't go too fast. My mom actually did the disgusting part of cleaning it but I put it back together and it's working again. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this video!! First I had difficulty finding the right belt, and then I had all the issues that you addressed in your video. I can't wait to finish putting my vacuum back together and finally, finally be able to use it. Your step by step explanations were GREAT! Now I know what to look for and how to problem solve. I watched the "professional" video and it fell short in oh so many ways. Again, thanks for taking the time to put your video together. Satisfied customer...Redding, CA
At the risk of repeating Ricky... There are two pedal/levers on the unit, both made from grey plastic. One is at the left, rear, base. That 'toe pedal' engages or releases the upright/handle hinge part so you can tilt it back and push it along the floor. There's also one on top of the base on the left side which is the Belt Tensioner. Press it all the way down to either 'click' engage or release the spring loaded roller that deforms the belt path and so applies stronger belt gripping force to the brush roller. You would have it disengaged as Ricky shows in his video to make belt replacement easy. I didn't see him re-engage it before trying the vac on the floor or to demonstrate it "not working" on the bench.

Ricky adames here, on my other channel. Haha. Thanks for explaining that. I already gave mine away though. Oops. Now I know next time!
OMG.....You are a fricken genius is right!! Now i dont have to buy a new belt. Here i thought i had to replace the belt. You are a God! lol Thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuu =)
Great video! I lost patience waiting for the belt to break in and turn the roller brush on its own. I sprayed the roller brush where the belt sits with a small amount of WD40. It solved the problem.
Funny bro - run it around the room like it does work - great comment - thanks for the video unfortunately my screen res is acting up and needed more/full lighting - appreciate the effort!
There is a foot step-on switch on the left side of this vacuum which I see is not engaged. Embossed letters say "BRUSH ON/OFF" make sure you push it to on position. This one looks to be in the off position.
Thank you! I've had a used Hoover for a few years that always frustrated me because the cord wouldn't retract. Watched this, saw "press the button," paused and said "wait a minute, there's a button...?" I'm kinda thick sometimes.
This model is designed to disengage the belt when the vacuum is locked in the upright position... that little foot pedal on the left hand side of your vacuum is the belt tensioner. My frustration has been the hoover website which recommends both stretch and non-stretch belts as viable replacements for this model, and I have a feeling that one of them is going to shred in about 2-3 uses. Guess I order both and submit them to rigorous testing (to the death!) :)
That's interesting. I'm glad someone here knows something about the tension because I sure as hell dont. lol. I'm just trying to do whatever to keep it alive. I bought my replacement on amazon and it was the right one that came up when I searched something like "Hoover pro pet 3 belt". I cant see how a flexible belt would be good. I would think that would make the tension less but please tell us what results you get! I'm getting ready to can this thing. It works like 30 percent as good as it used to
How did I not find your video until now? I love you🥰. You explained perfectly Ricky, Thank you🙏. I think I’m gonna hang onto your subscription because if I need to know how to do anything else you are going to be my go to guy!🤣😂🤣😂. Ok?
I've had mine since 2018 and barely got 4 months use out of it, same issues roller won't spin and when it does it makes an abnormal noise... Contacted Hoover now once I cut the Cord off it they'll send me a Replacement, it's got a 5 year Warranty... Thank God they don't have anymore in stock of this model 😤
Yep. The issue is that last screw near the drive shaft: if you fully tighten it it stops the belt from moving. You have to not tighten it all the way to get the belt and beater bar to spin.
Thank you...I think the quality of the video was fine! Another question. When the brush bar is removed, there is a pinkish red, plastic piece under the brush (see 15min,. 34 sec.) Mine somehow got all mangled up. I removed it, but haven't tried sweeping yet. Do you think it's terribly necessary to have?
Their is a engage /disengage on top of the T-head and when you lock it in the upright position it is supposed to disengage the brush beater bar so both need to be engaged. For Gods sake unplug and place the Vacuum on the floor for your safety and don’t turn the bar with your fingers. This would be a great safety video, thanks for the laugh!
Lisa Remmark You really need to watch my other video. It will show you how to make the brush roll again. I think the whole belt conditioning thing is hogwash. The Real problem is loss of material of the rollerbrush . You will see what I mean if u watch that other video. Good luck!
I got a kick out of how you were vaccuming with it after you got the belt on lol....still laughing...took me a hr to put the damn thing on never been so frustrated in my life!Thank you...I got it going for now untill it breaks again or falls off.
@@lisaremmark2699 lol..hoover suggests to do what I did in the video to condition the belt. I don't think it helps. Some people still have problems getting the belt to work after changing it. I was unfortunate to be one of these people. I'm glad you fixed your problem! Even if it did take a while. Lmao!
The issue I'm having with mine is the brush rotator pedal stop doesn't click down anymore. Any info? I took it apart but i can't see what the problem is. It makes it useless for my solid floors as the brush kicks everything around. Thanks
I got rid of mine. I hope someone can fix your problem though. Maybe try replying to the other people in this video that told me how to tension the belt. They will see the reply and might help.you. I wish you the best of luck!
This was a discouraging video. Not because the repairman didn't do a good job, but, that he really couldn't fix it. What a crappy vacuum cleaner. I have done everything he did and still couldn't get the dumb thing to work. Then, to have the repairmen say; oh well, hope this works for you...and then add, it's just a bad design, you probably should buy a better brand. Ouch! When is this stupid country that we live in, going to start producing quality products! Why do we rely on cheap Chinese crap that doesn't work! Come on America, "WAKE UP! I'm going to buy a Sharp. Bye.

Thanks man, that's exactly what happened to me, DUH
Wow, I just spent over an hour trying to get the brush to spin and this was the only issue. LOL
Thank you! Glad to know it is a design flaw and not me not being able to change a belt.
It helped thank you so much for fixing my hoover
Thanks Ricky, I repaired my vaccum today watching ur videos. Thanks for big help in lockdown
Thanks for your help Ricky. Your tips helped us get it back and functional. Hopefully it lasts that way.
:)
I hope so too!
Your video actually helped me way more than the other
hell yeah! im glad to hear that, my friend!!!

Press the lever down on the top. It says brush the silver lever that will engage the brush

I just hit the base tab/large gray button on the left of base and it bounced into an up position - brush/beater bar began to spin

yay! im so glad to hear that!!!
you know, they make head lights for things like this?
What belt number?
I need the size belt
I was just looking for the belt size... I paused the video and got it. 12.8x457... The rest is simple
Poor dude, push down on the silver lever that says BRUSH, That will engage the brush If you don't want to use the brush lift up on the lever
How do you make it not swivel
Thank thank. I had the same problem and it’s not mine
I hate nothing keeps the belt from jumping from that metal rod.. makes no sense at all.mines keeps jumping off 2 times a week
Yeah, that is pretty stupid. Thanks for commenting!
Great
Ha ha the fact you ignored the belt tensioner is hilarious. Maby you should reexamine what tour trying to do h ha
It's the wrong belt - you need the smaller one - they come in a 2 pack at Walmart for like $4.50.
I have same issue now. I ordered what hoover suggested on website. Still not working.
