    Special moment between Shaq & Kareem there. To be honest, when I first saw that they were going to be on the air together tonight, my thoughts immediately went to what Shaq wrote about Kareem in his book, "Uncut". That was beautiful to hear Kareem clear the smoke a bit. (In Shaq's book, he told the story about how he would constantly say hello to Kareem as they walked past each other, and Kareem would mutter hello without breaking stride). In Magic's book, "When The Game Was Ours", he told stories about how rude Kareem was to the people around him, and Magic vowed to never be that way. He even told some stories about how acting the opposite way that Kareem acted, actually landed him some major business deals after retirement.
    Over the past 20 years, it sure seems like Kareem has changed A LOT. That truly was a beautiful moment between Shaq and Kareem. I have Kareem & MJ tied as the Greatest Players of All Time, by the way. =)

      You can add many asterisks to his NBA resume if you give him the same treatment people give MJ and LeBron...
      He won 6 rings and only 2 FMVPs. Can you imagine if Kyrie and AD won FMVP instead of LeBron? or if Pippen had won 3 and Rodman 1 of MJ's FMVPs?
      Also, considering Kareem won pretty much all of his 6 MVPs during the era that most consider as the worst since the era the league got good (60s), how can you put that 1-2 MVP lead ahead of MJ and LeBron? MJ and LeBron played in stacked leagues. Dominating weaker competition just don't hold as much value.
      In terms of longevity, LeBron is pretty much shattering all previous notions we had. A few years ago we would always look at Kareem when talking about longevity, now it's just LeBron and it's not just because he broke Kareem's record (and let's not forget LeBron was already scoring a lot back in the 2000s, a very slow/low-scoring era of basketball).
      His biggest feats are his 6 rings, 6 MVPs and longevity, but adding some context to it, they don't look as impressive as MJ's ridiculous Bulls career and LeBron's overall career (if Vince Carter managed to get NBA minutes as a 43 yr old, LeBron can definitely do it as well considering how he's still one of the best in the league at 38).
      That being said, Kareem is still a top 3 player imo, but he's way behind LeBron and MJ. There's a cliff between them.

    I love shaq, and I could really sense this was a moment that Shaq really wanted to convey publically that Kareem is a big reason Shaq was in the NBA, and it made him strive for greatness. I have been a hater of LeBron since he left Cleveland. Not sure what it was last night but I can't deny he is the blue print, model of how to play longer, and GOAT. Jordan is the best champion I have ever seen, Kobe is the best competitor, and Lebron is the best basketball player.
    I think we will see another Lebron in my lifetime, maybe his son or someone else. Someone that gets into the league early, decides not to get caught up in the money, women, drugs, and other spoils. Someone who spends 1 million + of their money a year on their body, doing the little things to stay healthy long term. Lebron has shown the way others will follow.

    Kareem is a legend, for basketball and civil rights. He isn't a gregarious, extroverted guy, he's generally quiet and introspective and I think many take it the wrong way as him not liking other people or mean. Rules wouldn't let him play as a freshman, and they changed the rules of the game because he was so dominant. It would have been interesting if he had started in the NBA at 18 as well, but I think LeBron would still have caught him. LeBron will be 1 in scoring, maybe 2 in assists, might make top 20 in rebounds. Kareem, 2 in scoring, 3rd in rebounds, and 5k+ assists. Amazing players.

    • @Kristalaurene
      @Kristalaurene Год назад +1

      Well, that's actually true. Kareem played 4 years of college before the NBA, so he started age 24, as where lebron started at 18. And it took them both about 20 years to get to this exact point.. so I guess it just begs the question could you imagine how many more points Kareem would have got if he began at 18 and had 4 more years on-top of what he did... that would've been much harder to break!

    • @MichaelMichaelJr
      @MichaelMichaelJr Год назад

      @@Kristalaurene Good point. I think Kareem’s points weigh more, given he only made one three pointer and made more field goals. LeBron has played in a much softer league.
