Whatever is happening in the moment thought and feeling-wise...and I mean LITERALLY whatever. The first song I wrote the other day was about how i needed to stop procrastinating and watching videos about songwriting and just actually write a song lol...and I actually liked it! Seems to be working for me so far. (Although clearly I'm back to watching videos lol)

Sure, so the theme would be the topic you want to write about. e.g. a breakup. then the emotional point of view would be how you feel about it, e.g. you could feel confused, or you could feel guilty, or relieved, or free. you could even feel a combination of these things. that way you can be clear about the direction of the song ( i hope that makes sense).
