Love your content Dane! Having two of my three kids college bound athletes, your information has been priceless. Having been ACSM certified years ago and and a lifetime bodybuilder/gym rat, I thought I was armed with enough knowledge to adequately train my kids. Boy was I wrong! I’ve been fascinated and very motivated by your training methods since I started devouring your content. I’m almost motivated to get recertified but this time by the NSCA. Very skeptical I’d pass though after so long away from academia.😬 Well, keep up the great work! Thank you from NJ
You are the absolute undisputed best my man!!! I think leg exercises, whether they are hypertrophy or strength exercises, are overlooked in general. I play rugby here in Italy and it's so funny to watch my team-mates train because they have these Hulk torsos and then toothpick legs. So I think back squats and front squats for that matter are exceptional. Love your vids man, they've helped me a lot, espeially your speed vids and wrestling strength vids. Cheers!!
thoughts about doing the dumbell incline underhand for shoulder safety? and YES - thank you for adding the leg press to this. there's a reason you see a lot of pro athletes using it but then people with "ideologies" say you shouldn't do it.
Deficit Trap bar Deadlift done 20 reps breathing squat style w/ a 3 to 5 count hold at the top of each rep, compound pull of choice 8 to 12 reps 3 to 5 count hold in contracted position, compound push of choice done same as pull.
Thank you for the video, I'm about to get into more standard weight training, as I currently do mostly kettlebell / bodyweight workouts. The problem I will have with this workout is the leg press, as I workout at home and don't have access to a leg press or a sled. Is there any other exercise that will mimic the leg press benefits? Or would a superset of split-squats and back squats work?
Thanks for great advice. I am a complete newbie and have been using stronglifts for six weeks now. Is this ok for me before I try your workouts as they seem for advanced lifters
Thank you so much for making all these videos! My son (11) is wanting to start up football this fall and I was wondering if you thought that was too early to start working on a strength base over the summer?
That’s on you. If you do put him in football buy him expense protective gear. Research the helmets and shoulder pads. Don’t be cheap especially in a combat sport.
@@adrien2323 Thank you. The question was more related to strength training at the age, not football. I am still on the fence about playing football due to all the potential injuries, but strength training is different.
Wouldn't recommend your son to lift heavy weight while he was still 11 - which is a very premature age for engaging in sport that involved in heavy stuff , would recommend you to take your son for a daily swimming , basket ball , football , martial art ( high priority ) or if you could , try calinesthic but remember doing all of that with false form will leads to devastating consequences , also remember your kid's diet , insufficient nutrient intake during puberty is not really a thing you wish your kid would have
This person above mentioned some great points. I am going to be a freshman in college next year and will be playing football. I love the sport and all it has done for me but hate what it could do to others. I have been blessed to be conscious of my head and my health, and have taken necessary precautions to protect myself and stay healthy, whether that be through the way I train, my form when tackling on the field, etc. What I can say is that some of the best players I know did not start playing until 7th or 8th grade, so there is no time too late to start. What they did do prior is other sports, such as basketball or soccer which are much safer alternatives that will still develop your child into an athlete. Wrestling probably has the biggest carry over, but please do not let your kid deprive himself of nutrients necessary to develop by cutting weight. I do not think it is ever too early to start developing a strength base and believe that it will only benefit him so long as he has good mechanics. Form comes first in everything.
I like doing hypertrophy truthfully for vanity reasons but do athletes ever want to AVOID hypertrophy either for injury reasons or for cutting weight like keeping the upper body light for an endurance athlete or athletes that have weight limits?
For sure! Contrary to what it might seem like, gymnasts are never trying to put on muscle. When you see those muscle giants in the Olympics, know that it’s due to 1) genetics 2) see # 1 and 3) the skill they’re probably the best at…in the case of big armed gymnasts…probably rings and/or pommel horse
I really pray you answer this no one answer questions speaks of my questions people with HIV will this help them to grow muscle I am infected and I'm maintaining my muscle but I want to grow more that's what I want to know thank you
@@GarageStrength Yes it has, but there is nothing magic about that particular drug. Any of the steroids would do, and many of them might be better than the cutting-oriented oxandrolone. Oxymetholone (anadrol) has also been used in HIV; the classic bulking steroid. Plain old testosterone would be as good as any, maybe best at least for the base, then add others if needed. Nandrolone perhaps.
The biggest problem is how to measure it hypertrophy if you are like average and dont have a bunch of equipment for it. I dont realy trust scales and skinfold measures even if they can give a general idea.
Super informative and high quality content but.. Why do you not talk about weight. Lifting weights in kilos or lbs look 6 sets of 7 reps is incomplete without the actual weight which i was referred to this video to explain to a new lifter. 6 to 7 reps is a range of 75-80% of your max... here's the thing I'd like to see a video from you with an actual weight reference why no do something everyone is scared to do in this industry and actually set the bar and add some weight to your recommendations so you can actually guide the audience and not leave everything super vague Food for thought
He makes a living from coaching people. If he can’t give away everything for free, so we should appreciate the amount and quality of free content he provides.
I think he means do 6-7 reps with as much weight as you can handle for those reps, close to failure or maybe one rep in the tank. Weight will of course vary greatly per individual.
Luckily there are professional programs out there they are not sold on you tube. Mayhem for Is a super sized program. Your vids are cool and so forth, but for actual training I'd go the professional way seeing that we paying in any case.
1. Back Squat (Low and High Bar)
2. Dumbbell Incline Bench with Slow Eccentric
3. Leg Press
4. T-Bar Row

Thanks!
Shut da fug up and watch the clip

You’re one of the best on YT, you’ve helped me so much. I appreciate it every time you drop a video.
Good call on the leg press. The great speed skater Eric Heiden was doing 100 rep sets with 600 lbs leading up to the 1980 Olympics🤙💪

Check out knees over toes guy too bro. You might like the sissy squats, reverse nordics, and nordic curls he does.

What’s your opinion on dynamic efforts or quick bar speeds on compounds as a variation for improving absolute strength?
Not inside the cellular wall but cellular membrane. Animals don't have cellular walls.

Great catch😉

I'd be interested in a program where you blend these with all those different rep ranges.
You just casually said your dad is 95 years old crushing t bar rows like it's nothing. 😭😭❤️
How much do we lower the weight from what we typically lift to get Hypertrophy. I can’t do 20 reps with the weight I’ve been lifting
Lower it enough so that you fail around the 20th rep probably lol
The seated leg press is good for those with back pain
Could you please tell me how you know sarcoplasmic hypertrophy is a thing?
The pops grip strength n skill tho🥶
What do you think about the hack squat machine? Some say it's better than the leg press for building leg mass..
He demonstrated that dumbbell press just to show off the new lean physique! 💪 😂
swear there was dynamic trunk control somewhere in there
Lookin’ Lean!!!!

Miracle grow, 5t!!
Walking lunges with heavy dumbbells with develop quads on a tall person without the destruction to the lower back.
Are Hack squats ok too?
How do you feel about shrugs?
as opposed to weight-lifting and tennis: I chose basketball and shotput
I did leg pressing when I raced bycycele
Hi I was wondering if you make a video on build strength similar to jrue holiday. Like how he can absorb contact from and bully people bigger that him

First you increase the muscle mass, then you increases the neuromuscular connection.

Are there any alternatives to the dumbbell incline bench for those without a bench? Maybe decline push ups?
Do you have a kind of medball ? You could use it to lay on your scapula and press
