When I saw all those tomatoes, I felt like the Lord was smiling at you.😍
Yes agreed!
Girl let me tell you what i had for supper. We had crowder peas, new potatoes, sliced german johnson tomatoe, banana peppers (all from the garden), fried chicken and cornbread with watermelon from the garden. It was a real feast. I love eating food i grow
Oh my yummy!! That sounds so good!
Wow. Everything is so beautiful
Hi Barbara. Your tomato crop is abundant!!! I can't wait to see them ripen. Thank you for sharing with us. So exciting.
Thanks and yes we are harvesting tons of them!
Hey Barbara! Your gonna have a great tomato harvest. The marks on the cucumber I heard a gardener say “cucumber beetle” makes that mark.
Oh thank you! I have never had it before on my cucumbers. Do you know if they are still safe to eat?
@@AGardenersJourneyHomestead they say yes. I would personally peel it before eating.
@@RoscheetaMonique Ok good to know! I have just been using those in my water and cutting that part off so if you don't see me on video next week then you know something lol
This is so informative and approachable I never understood the determinate vs indeterminate differences until now
Awesome-glad I could explain it! I had no clue when I first started gardeing.
Your harvest is so beautiful and inspiring Mrs. Barbara. Our tomatoes are putting on weight, no blushing yet, but these are the biggest I’ve ever seen in our garden and only. The 1st two had blossom end root rot, likely from the heavy rains in May. Thank you for sharing as you learn, because it really helps us here in VA 6b/7a. I used the Florida weave with 6 foot stakes for our indeterminate tomatoes and will keep you posted on how they’re doing. See you next time!
That is great and the blushing will happen soon!
Girrrrl, those tomatoes are poppin!!! I’m so proud of how far you’ve come in just a few growing seasons. ❤❤❤❤. Sending love from NY.
Thanks so much!
Hi Barbara, I started watching your channel earlier this year during your seed starting series and have been enjoying your content.
Yes, your tomatoes are beautiful indeed. Please get back on the horse with the Brandywine. I am not a big fan of tomatoe, but I grew Brandywine Pink three years ago, and it was delicious and just about converted me. I have grown them ever and enjoy eating them on my grill cheese sandwich on sourdough bread.
Happy Gardening 😊
Thanks for watching and ok I will try it again next year...maybe🙂
Great video
Oh my goodness! What a beautiful harvest!!!! I pulled in my onions today. The grasshoppers are horrendous here right now. Who knew they liked onions?!? The fall, Lord willing, will be epic! I was able to have three small concrete pads laid to have raised beds put on top. Take that gophers!!! 😂 Keep growing!
Congrats on your onion harvest! And so nice on your raised beds!
Hi Barbara!! 😁. Those purple tomatoes are sooo pretty!!❤
Yes thank you! They are pretty!
Your harvest is wonderful.I've just been trying to keep our garden and animals alive.118 today and tomorrow 😢But it's supposed to cool down to 110 by the end of next week. The weather man actually said, cool down to 110.😂Today outside just long enough to get horses sprayed down.It is painfully hot.
That is super hot! Be careful and wishing you the best.
Beautiful tomatoes 🍅
Thanks!
Beautiful tomatoes!
Thank you!
Hi Barbara, I am so so happy for your tomatoes and all the other vegetables that are blooming and coming to harvest time in your gardens. I enjoy watching you with that happy spirit you always have. Im in North Carolina but if I was closer I would join the team and come help you in your garden. I'm a country girl so that would be fun for me as I was raised up helping my grandparents in the garden, picking, peeling and helping to can vegetables.Take care you and the family and God Bless. Love, Ms Elaine.
Thanks and I wish you were closer!
❤❤
I think the white lines on your cucumbers are slug trails. It's fine, ain't going to hurt nothing. Just wash it good.
Ok thanks!
If you noticed most of the ones that say vine ripen. Still has part of a vine. That's how they can say it. They cut early so they can ship
True!
Good morning
Welcome!
so what kind of Tomatoes are determinant? & what ones are inderminant WOW!! u have a great harvest! yummmm! 🍅🍒
Most tomatoes that you see and buy are indeterminate. Roma is the only determinate variety I have growing now. Here is a list: www.skynursery.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/tomato-list.pdf
That so awesome!!
Your garden is so amazing!!
Thank you!
Barbara, you were in my neck of the woods ( Texas at least) and yes we are dealing with it!!! 🔥 😅!
Yes, we were in Dallas! It was 100 degrees!
Yes, that's where I am at!
I tried growing green beans for the first time this year. I believe they are called Kentucky pole beans. I've gotten 2 beans lol I've seen lots of flowers popping up but no beans yet. I'm thinking about ripping them up and starting a new succession of pink eyed purple hull peas. I'm in NW Louisiana Zone 8A/B (depending on who you ask lol)
Yes I am growing the Ky wonder now and not impressed lol. The purple hull peas love heat and they are doing great !
@AGardenersJourneyHomestead that's it! Kentucky Wonder is what I planted. Lots of flowers right now so hoping it's just behind the purple hulls. Pretty sure I won't be buying them again if they don't produce in the next week. I'll just rip them up and plant more purple hulls lol I have a small raised garden
Thats it!! As Roscheeta says, cucumber beetle
Cukes look a little like leaf miner damage but only seen on leaves....beautiful harvest!!!!!
I just heard one guy to say we shouldn’t prune our tomatoes. They claims it will be disease. I did prune about 2 tomatoes plant but haven’t prune the rest.
Really? Different school of thought. For indeterminate tomatoes, I prune and it has worked better for me that way.
that could be from cucumber beetle or even leaf miners, or another insect like thrips.
Thanks!
That is leaf miner
Ok thanks. I have never had that before.
_Girl ain't nobody gonna RENT you their 8 year old!_ 🤣🤣
LOL listen it is worth a try !
Can you do a video on your purple hull pea harvest and processing. I’m growing them for the first time this year.
My dad said once the pole beans start making it’ll keep going til fall.
Great harvest I’m happy for you.
Yes I will! I thought about doing a live while I am shelling and processing peas so I may do that!
@@AGardenersJourneyHomestead awesome!! I’ll look out for it Saturday night.
When you say jute, is it a natural fiber? My understanding from other channels that use this method is that if the jute is in the ground it just rots and then breaks as the tomatoes grow.
yes it is! That is good to know because it is breaking all over the place!
That is a lot of beefsteak type tomatoes! Do you fry any of them up green?
I have not in the past 2 years but I want to this year.
Not rent a little boy 😂😂😂😂
Lol! Listen...Lexi has more energy than all of us put together!
Girl if i lived closer i would bring you 2 farm girls that have way to much engery
Yes I need them!
What are the name of your indeterminate tomatoes you are growing?
Many different varieties: Beefsteak, Big Beef Plus, Paul Robeson, Amish Paste, Rebelski are some of them
Congratulations! Tomato season! Mine are almost done… I’ve made all I want with the tomatoes…. Giving them away now! I’m tired of working out in the garden as it is SO HOT here.triple digits…110today.
Congratulations!!
