    You said to tell you what I plan to make…I plan to create a story driven game such as life is strange or the quarry, but in VR so YOU are living the experience and not another character. Showing your life story and dropping you in a crazy situation. I think it is a needed game genre for VR! And I’m excited to start! Thanks for the video 😊

    I wish the purpose for using Android Studio 4 was explained, as now there are far more versions, and using the link shown in this video now gives you a prompt to download Android Studio "Electric Eel". Took me way too long to find the old 4 version, but can i use 4.1 or 4.2? What even is this for?

    annoying. So many Unreal Engine "tutorials" never clearly tell the viewer which version they are using. Sheer laziness. Many things are different between the different versions (like button allocation for Quest 2 between 5.0 and 5.1)

    Thanks for this - am just wondering if this is still the correct information currently, and for using Quest 3 instead of Quest 2- for example do we still need to download Android Studio, and which version? There is now a Meta XR Plugin for Unreal 5, though I'm not sure if this is more geared towards actual Quest deployment, whereas I'm interested in using the Quest 3 for PCVR.
    My first tests with airlink/virtual desktop have been pretty bad- the headset feels laggy and the view shakes around a bit in the template VR scene in Unreal, whereas all other games/apps are very solid. I have not installed Android Studio as yet though.. wondering if you may do an upto date video for Quest 3/Unreal 5.3/Airlink at some point?

    EDIT: I've learnt you need to disable any Open XR related plugins in your unreal project, if you have the Meta XR plugin enabled. Once I did this, I'm getting a good result in VR via airlink (I still haven't installed Android Studio, haha).
    I'm happy with this but not ultimately satisfied, because I can't get a VR preview through other desktop mirroring software, for eg- virtual desktop, Meta Workrooms, immersive... Those last two apps I'd really like to get working, as my idea was to be able to work in unreal editor in VR with the keyboard and mouse as passthrough, and then switch to VR preview without needing to take the headset on/off. If anyone has any tips for this kind of workflow, please let me know! :)

    Thank you so much for the awesome video! Would it be possible to test a VR game without a headset? For example, I use keyboard WASD to move around and grab with different keyboards input with Unity. I am wondering if Unreal has a similar option.

    At 5:22 - make sure you select the Unreal Engine Installer option as well. You'll need that when installing plugins.

    I work fulltime as a VR developer in the Unity space, curious for any other devs, how are frame rates on standalone? I know UE is fairly heavy both in it's footprint (Space used) but also in general with it's lighting/engine. Any feedback would be great.

      Frame rate on standalone is good, you just have to make sure that you optimise your level

    Without changing anything, I seemed to be anchored in the center of the nav mesh unable to move on the flat surface. for some reason the stairs worked but not on the flat surface. UE 5.1

      @@umbratherios5614 Delete the default floor and create a new one with the BSP box brush - just scale it out to roughly the size of the original floor. Make sure it's inside the Nav Bounds mesh. For some reason, the default floor doesn't seem to work. But create a new floor does. Hope that helps!

    This was going fine for me until I had to download the Oculus App for Mac. I have an iMac and the Oculus App isn't supported on my device. It sucks because I was really looking forward to dabbling in this over the weekend. 😞

    I did everything you say but it's not working for me.
    - Installed Android Studio 4.0
    - Installed Visual Studio Community 2022 with the additional modules as per your video
    - Enabled Developer Mode on the app
    - Installed the Oculus app and linked the device (which I can confirm it shows as connected through Quest Link on the headset)
    - Installed and enabled the Meta XR plygin in UE
    When I start the preview in VR, nothing happens other than the window opening and the camera being set at 0,0,0.
    The only thing that doesn't seem right is the quest link troubleshoot saying the device is connected, NOT MEETING REQUIREMENTS. ETHERNET: NONE.
    Any ideas?

    Heyho! Commenting this while starting the vid, Im very new to Unreal and Ive seen theres a VR project type and others like game type projects. I need to create a landscape for uni which should later be able to be used in VR too, can I work normally in a game project and later on still be able to view it in VR? I also personally dont own a VR headset, its only in the school, can I still work without it at home? (If the questions are dumb Im sorry, Im very lost)

    Would it be too much to show us how to make a kingspray like VR game? I mean where we can spraypaint on our own modelled environment (in UE5 i mean, not in kingspray). I'm sure you know that Kingspray is a VR graffiti art program.

    Interestingly enough, I tried this with 5.0.3 and it worked. I updated to 5.1.0 and did the same thing (a dozen times) and it does NOT work. I have tried creating new projects etc. Nothing. However, I can copy and paste the navMesh from the template along with the floor from the template and it works fine.

      ends up that the DETAILS settings for the floor object in the default blank map is NOT the same as the DETAILS found in the VR_Template Floor. If you have the same issue, look at the details (I took pics) and verify they are the same for the default level.

    Teleport issue : I've a complex scene, and I tried to import the VR blueprints / folders . I've activate everything, put the right boundaries for the Vr area ... But the teleport function doesn't show up. Any clue what's missing ?
    From esthetic point of view everything looks good, I can walk in the environment, but it doesn't work the teleport. Vr set: Vive HTC

      No, Android Studio is not required for using Valve Index/Steam VR. However, if you plan to develop VR applications for Android devices that work with Valve Index/Steam VR, Android Studio may be necessary.

    Hello, I started with the VR template and migrated a level I had built. I created the navigation mesh for it, but when I try to teleport, the pointer is not showing up, and the teleportation circle appears right next to me. How can i solve it?
