The Beam Magnum is cool and all, but it's kinda sad that people forget about the original RX-78-2 Gundam's beam rifle, which had the exact same sound, and is the reason the Beam Magnum sounds like this at all.
I still love that the beam magnum is, like most of gundam unicorn, an homage and love letter to the original gundam show. Like the RX-78 and its beam rifle,, it's an overwhelming, battleship class beam rifle that can handily one-shot any mobile suit.

I always thought that those sounds are the sounds that the pilot hears while being inside the mobile suit, but I don't have a science-y explanation to back it up so I left it there
the sounds were just for the viewers to have a perspective of how those beams will sound like, but in reality, they don't hear it in space, they just looking for visuals and heat signature to react... but they can hear it on Earth's atmosphere

I have to say Unicorn Guneam is one of the strongest in terms of physical strength from UC timeline. It can rip Sinanju's left leg, and even the virgin Delta Plus can't even hold 1 shot of Unicorn's beam magnum.
Its honestly the strongest in terms of power period. Even a non awakend phenex can fuck whole squads with a wave of its hand. And an awakened unicorn unicorn unit can fo far greater things like return everything its energy touches back to its original state. The unicorns are broken and needed to be sealed away and all phycophrame tech was halted out of fear of what could happen. And yes turn A wankers the an awakend unicorn could beat turn A. "But moonlight butterfly" they are nanomachines....meaning they can be reduced to a original state of parts and dismantled so say phenex uses its full phyco power in an awakend state and just reverts the nanomachines and then the turn A and then it would fly faster than light to the center of the universe again and stay there. So no turn A is no longer the strongest gundum.

My friends who aren’t gundam fans were like “listen to this tank firing best sound in all of media” I just laughed in superior beam magnum sound (also the reload sound peak sound design for both)
I had a 0096 OVA marathon last year in Christmas with a 4:1 surround sound setup at my living, plug my laptop on 55" TV and played it with 60fps interpolation using SVP. yes... it was simply an awesome experience watching this anime.
You can see the Unicorn just jerks back when firing the magnum, every gundam we see and other mobile suit we saw fired their gun without recoil, sure except the the delta plus when it fired the magnum.
