Great review! Just picked up this pedal and I can say it’s the smoothest pedal I’ve played (I also own the DW machine chain drive double pedal). I prefer the Tama pedal.... just feels more solid and effortless.
I have always used the iron cobra double pedal and single pedals, when I saw the speed cobra in a drum shop in the middle of 2015 I was curious) it was the cheapo 310 version, so I tried it in the shop and found it was OK, so I decided to buy it and just upgrade a few parts that I already have accumulated over the years ( I put the tama support springs under the foot plate, changed the linkage bar, and pedal springs, put better skate board bearings in the pedals and put some mapex beaters on with the added weights that could be fitted in to the beater head, and I still play that exact same pedal today, very easy to use pedal, and although mine isn't the 910 version it's close enough
I just got the single pedal.super nice.never had a quality pedal, been playing sub hundred dollar pedals for 20 years. Super stoked on it.very smooth.very nice quality
Yeah that's right. I did have 9000's last year briefly. I didn't notice the benefit too much. This seems a step further. Both are such good ideas. Cheers for watching dude
Thank you for the review! Much appreciated for your thoughts which has helped me immensely to decide. btw, you never mention which model this is. Maybe update the title or description? Cheers!
U should try solid state version of the speed demon! I tried one and loved it more than thw chain but I have a demon drive alrdy and they seem less sturdy for things like tours. They should still make them and that was before the new spring hinges. I just got thw demon drive because I play multiple styles of music so switching from long board to short board is super handy for me. Other wise I'd have to buy 2 pedals
I just wanted to say man, I took your advice about the sabian x plosion crash... did not get a chance to play before I bought it, but I love it. Thanks dude.
Great review, much appreciated. Question: Another review mentioned that the main pedal shifts to the side, possible due to the fact that it does not have spurs. Have you experienced this?
Got these recently and love them however I have only experienced 1 problem ...over the coarse of play the stock beaters start to turn sideways. It's like the screw that tightens the beater in place can't hold it firmly enough in place? I've had no problems with other beaters but these always start to turn on me....wish this wasn't the case because I like the beaters. Did this happen to you at all?
My guess is that your bass drum isn’t firmly secured in place and subtly swivels, causing your beaters to also swivel. If you’re still having this issue, check your bass drum spurs and make sure everything is firmly secured.
just got pearl demon chain for 2 weeks and I'm very disappointed with the pedal. I've tried to adjust it for a week but still can't find the fast and smooth feel from it. The new tama speed cobra is just on another level
I had the demon chain as well and no matter how I dialed it in it felt either top heavy orrrrr was completely lacking in power. I couldn’t find any middle ground.
Keep the Demon Drive driveshaft for the Cobras if you decide to stick with one, the Tama type is super cheap and develops play within a matter of hours, if it doesn't already exist out of the box.
Yes, I was thinking about doing that. I might get a trick shaft if I let the demons go. I've had the demon shaft on the cobras, it helped but not as much as I have experienced on other pedals. As of now the cobra shaft has zero play in it, which even when it's new is surprising. But as you say it'll be on the way. But out the box it's a nice feeling light drive shaft. I'm so impressed by these pedals. Thanks for watching!!
Heavy Drums Inc could you quickly explain what the term “play” means in regards to the drive shaft? I’ve somehow never heard this term and I’m very curious. Thanks!
I havehad the demon demon drive for a while, but I didn,t like it at all. Now I play the mapex falcons for a couple of years whith nylon straps. I am considering to buy these for their longboards and light design
Do you have any suggestions for a double pedal that won’t break the bank? I’m currently using the tama iron cobra 200 and I’m trying to upgrade. I play metal so I’m looking for a fast one, do you think the 310 would work?
great review :) there is almost nowhere to find this information on the internet, I am wondering is the right pedal axle going through from one post to the other and left pedal going over it like on a dew 9000, or they connect in the middle of right pedal like for an example on an iron cobra?
And do you mean the drive shaft? They open up at each end and lock out when they are fully extended so the rods don't pop out. And thanks alot for watching
hm it's hard to explain, i mean the rights pedal main rotating axle, are there a two axles for each pedal or there is a one for the right pedal that goes from one post to another, and the left one goes over it that moves the left beater
I have a Iron Cobra 600 and the footboard has a bit of side to side movement, leading to a noise coming from the hinge between the footboard and the base. It's quite high to the point to bother me while playing. Does your 910 have any kind of side to side movement?
My 600 iron cobra also has that squeaky sound. I have mine for almost 2 years. The squeaky sound started last year and I can't figure out where is that sound coming from. Then last week I tried again and I put a little bit of touch of a WD40 in the hinge where the spring attached or hooked up. Just put a little lubricant, I used cotton buds. And the squeaky sound is now gone!
So can you still acheive the same speed with the speed cobras than the Demon Drives? I have Demon Drives but am thinking about switching to Speed Cobras.
Oh yeah, and you can feel and manipulate the pedal better I feel. The demon drives are great, but they feel less flexible and abit like they are playing you at times. If you are not a diehard direct drive fan, definitely go for the speed cobras. In my opinion as close to perfect kick pedals I've had.
Hi, I know what you mean. I did do that. Was a slight improvement but honestly I like the speed cobra drive shaft on the speed cobra better . Thanks for watching
Thanks for the video. Soon, I will go to the local store and try out: Tama 910 Speed cobrrla. Also if the store has on stock, the Pearl Red line eliminators and also DW 9000
Was actually trying to decide between these 2 pedals, very useful review, cheers 👍
Excellent man. It's why I do these.
Thanks for watching

This is exactly what I found too.

I love abit of DIY solutions

Pretty much perfect I think. Can't fault them
DW for years have had swivel spring at the bottom but its just good marketing with the swivel. the spring swivels on the looped end anyway.
Yeah that's right. I did have 9000's last year briefly. I didn't notice the benefit too much. This seems a step further.

Glad it helped man. Na, any drummer would know what the model is. It's the only one worth mentioning. Cheers
Didn’t DW do the swivel thing first with the 5000s. I don’t know the timeframe, but the rev used 9000s, the later generation, back in 2008.
Kinda, but not as extreme as this design on the speed cobra.

the swivel spring was invented by sonor on their giant step pedals many year before tama used it
Yeah, but this is a different design.
I tried Tama iron cobra 600 and the dw 3000 in a store and Tama is wayyyyy better. I would say this 901 have to be flawless
I do favour Tamas more solid feel
I just wanted to say man, I took your advice about the sabian x plosion crash... did not get a chance to play before I bought it, but I love it. Thanks dude.
No sweat, I'm glad this was of use.
You've bought an excellent cymbal there.
@@heavydrumsinc4816 grabbed the 19 inch fast version... I imagine you don't use thin crashes but man... its dark and boomy.. almost has a lag to it.
I would like to be able to use them. They sound fantastic
Great review, much appreciated.

Glad it's helped man.
No such issues my end with that.
Thanks for watching
Im trying to install the speed cobras on my roland td25kv and it seems they arent compatible, or am i doing something wrong?
I can't think of why that wouldn't work.
Maybe try shifting the pedal clamp so it sits over any ridge on the kick pad base

I've not had that no. I've been playing that much recently. But the playing I have done, no not even a little.
My guess is that your bass drum isn’t firmly secured in place and subtly swivels, causing your beaters to also swivel. If you’re still having this issue, check your bass drum spurs and make sure everything is firmly secured.

Yes, I cant imagine they'd be that good. Especially compared to the speed cobra, which is perfectly engineered
I had the demon chain as well and no matter how I dialed it in it felt either top heavy orrrrr was completely lacking in power. I couldn’t find any middle ground.
Lol demon drives are a pile of crap
Great review and I will be buying these
Here to help. Please do. Magic pedals!!!
I’m thinking of getting these, are they good?

@@cbaum64 yeah "play" means a very slight unwanted movement in the joints of the drive shaft. A slight loosness if you will.
Cheers!!
What is the main difference between the 310 and the 910, does it affect your speed or impact in some way?
I wouldn't know sorry man. I only ever go for the top versions. Sorry man.

Ahhh, I get you. It appears to be two separate rods in there that spread out at each end.

None so far. Maybe over time it may happen. But it really seems like it probably never will. Seems locked in tight like never before.
