Thanks for the video. I have a BMW 2013 550i GT with Xdrive and 64,000 kilometres. I have the 20” tire/rim package. I got rid of the run flats and went with continental tires and it’s the best thing I could have ever done on the car as it rides so much better.

I use bars valve stem seal conditioner it helped with that little bit of consumption i had, no i have no oil burning i use euro 5w40 and it has 150,000 miles

Owners of the N63 engines please do what the uploader does (oil changes and overall care) and make sure to let the engine cool down before shutting it off. Meaning, driver her gingerly before parking. And let the car idle for a few minutes so the cooling system can cool down the engine.

I had one a few years ago it’s definitely a fun car but once it’s starting to give problems you will definitely have a chain reaction of other problems. NYC streets I was getting bubbles, popped tires or cracked wheels almost every 2 months. The tires I got from tire rack with the road hazard cover so I was covered.

I have 150K+ miles on the car and I love it. Preventative maintenance goes a long way, my valve stem seals are giving out and maybe head gasket. Otherwise I love this car and the last 50K miles is with the tune. Make sure spark plugs and coil packs are good, oil change regularly, and most importantly have fun!

Valve cover gasket and seals, charge pipe, plugs and coils. Besides from the regular maintenance. I love the motor and the car, and the f10 chassis is timeless!

I am probably gonna trade in my car in 2022 for a Porshe 911.. what do you think I should do? Get the extended warranty?
I bought a 2011 n63 x5 50i for the purpose of youtube content to show just how horrible this engine is... it's been almost 8k miles later since January 2021 when I picked it up at 88k miles and zero oil burning zero smoking after all maintenance items were updated: both high pressure fuel sensors, both hpfp, lpfp, low pressure fuel sensor, air filters, spark plugs, both pcv hoses, 5x motor flush to clean out old crud, and oil change at 4k interval, front and rear differential fluid, transfer case fluid change, and finally transmissionfilter and fluid change. imo the horror stories come from owners who don't stay on top of maintenance. Or who believe absurd BMW 15k oil intervals.

@@falafulwaffle5305 as long as it isn't already gone and burning oil and smoking at tailpipes you have a chance. This is what you will need to do if that is the case... 1. Minimum 3x motor flush - flush then new oil and filter x3 during 1st week. 2. Add 2 bottles of motor oil saver from liquimoly (make sure to subtract the same amount of oil from the amount of liquimoly you add to avoid overfilling. 3. Change plugs and coils - they will be almost useless by now if they have not been changed. 4. For safety, change both high pressure fuel pumps 5. Change both pcv hoses 6. Change air filter That should do it for a long time if you don't abuse the car and you change oil 4k mile intervals. I also use ceratec for extra safety. I am trying to decide between m6 or 550i x drive for the next project. 🤔
So how reliable are the 2016 and up 550i cause I was looking at a m5 but the price on those things are high. Then I found out that the 550i is like 20k plus cheaper.
@@jaywhips Tune, but you can get it to pop with just the downpipes or even stock. There is a trick where if you barely tap the gas when you let off it will backfire.
I think you should be good, if I’m not mistaken it’s the n55 motor. BMW’s i6 engines are pretty good compared to their V8s. I had an e70 x5 with the n55 motor and I didn’t take care of it. That car lasted me 160k miles. Just take care of the car and the car will take care of you
Dude,,,take them run flats off! I had the same problem....every 300 miles i needed new front tires. I bought Falkenstein brand from Tire rack,,,,and now the car “FLOATS”......non run flats.....😎
Do lights or anything come on when u take run flats off ? Also might sound dumb but how u know u have runflaits dealer said they was tu flats but I don’t see any markings on em

Got a 750i M Sport . Got ot with 17k miles now has 72k miles. No problems other than tune ups it has no issues whatsoever

My F06 650xi has 130K miles, been tuned from 50K miles, both DME and transmission. No serious issues at all.
How you compare the difference ? What engine mods you got along with tune?

It does burn oil but only if you constantly floor it.. I tend to drive moderate but have fun once in awhile and it’s good for 5K-6K miles
