Not being in the codex doesn't rule out a future model released as part of an event. If they do that they will include the rules in the book that goes with it like they have for the previous times they did something like that.
The eldar army list has changed the least of any 40k army. Every unit that existed in 2nd ed still exists, the shadow spectres and crimson hunters are the only new aspects they've ever released. spiders and spears were both in the 2nd ed codex albeit without models.... The only part of the 2nd ed list they haven't released yet are the exodite dragon knights. It's pretty remarkable if you look at the 2nd ed list just how little has been added or changed to the army.
I had been under the impression that they had forgotten Karandras and were releasing the new mini later but this comes off as GW deciding to not bother with even that which is a slap in the face...
Imma keep playing with my Shadow Spectres. My group is generally cool with Legends. Karandras will probably come back at some point, but I don't see it ever happening for Iryllith and Shadow Spectres
I think it'd be neat if there were rules for creating your own Aspect Shrine for use in Crusade/Narrative play. I love the idea of my homebrew Craftworld having its own unique kind of Aspect Warrior but it's not something that could really be reflected in the game currently.
I may well be wrong, but I feel like you've misread the Ynnari and particularly Eldrad's intentions for them. Eldrad is actively trying to prevent the Rhana Dandra, precisely because it will lead to the death of all the eldar and thus the birth of Ynnead (who will supposedly then go on to defeat Slaanesh). That's what the whole ritual/battle on Coheria was about: Eldrad attempting to awaken Ynnead early, so the eldar didn't have to die. He and Yvraine also believe that reuniting the five crone swords is another way of awakening Ynnead, so that's what the Ynnari are currently tasked with doing. If that wasn't the case, there's no reason for Jain Zar to split from the other Phoenix Lords as the Phoenix Lords are already working towards Rhana Dandra. The way I read that bit about Jain Zar distancing herself from Yvraine is that she is becoming uncomfortable with the ease with which Yvraine will spend lives, when Jain Zar had been convinced by Eldrad that the ultimate goal was to save eldar lives. Jain Zar was also pursued by howling banshees from the Iybraesil craftworld whose intention was to remind her that her first loyalty was to all the eldar, not just the Ynnari, so perhaps that played a part, too. I'm definitely looking forward to reading the new lore when it comes, anyway, when we can get concrete answers to these questions. Personally, it's my belief that Ynnead isn't what Eldrad believes she is, and in fact the new eldar god is some kind of bait and switch by Slaanesh. N'kari certainly seems to be keeping tabs on Eldrad's progress and doesn't entirely seem to be hindering him, whereas the Slaaneshi daemons have been shown to be far more hostile towards the Phoenix Lords. Another possibility I think is on the table is that Ynnead simply isn't the eldar god Eldrad thinks she is. Not that she isn't being fed by the deaths of the eldar and is growing in power, that is, but it's probably worth remembering that it's ambiguous what the other eldar gods actually were - it's entirely possible they weren't 'gods' at all (in the warp entity sense), and were rather super advanced pieces of technology created during the war in heaven to fight against the necrons. If that's the case, Ynnead's birth would be more akin to the birth of Slaanesh, and we've already seen how a god created from the psyche of the eldar turns out. I'm not sure why Eldrad believes Ynnead would turn out any different. Or, in fact, why a god of the dead would have any interest in preserving life at all, except perhaps as a gradually replenishing fuel source.

This might get lost in the comments. But if possible can you turn down the initial noise from the intro. It's just much louder than the rest of your video.
I'm sad, since Karandras is my oldest model. He is the first model I ever purchased 29 years ago. When I read it the first time I didn't pickup that he wasn't going to be available. Maybe in 11th edition we get a Karandras update vs Drazhar update? Confirmation the Incubi and Scorpions are the same aspect and align them with Ynnari?
He isn't gone. Just a stupid way for them to say "we forgot to update the model". A 2nd less likely option, he will be added to the Dark Eldar book. This would be to tie the factions closer together.
Current count of playable aspects is ten. IIRC there's an aspect called the Slicing Orbs in the lore, but no idea how they work as they've never been represented in the game.
Gutted to lose my favourite Phoenix Lord. I heard a while back when the rumours of new sculpts started flying around that GW had straight up forgotten about Karandras in the process of sculpting new stuff. This does have a bit of a whiff of “oh shit we forgot something. Quick, make up some new lore to cover our asses”. 🤦🏼😂
That's lame... the Striking Scorpions aren't my favorite Aspect Warriors, but I love their darker counter parts, the Incubi. But not haveing him while Drazhar is running around is a bummer.
The article stated him as one of the other PLs. I don't read this as he won't be playable. It's at least not a confirmation. I assume they just don't want to show the old derpy model.
hm, FW gone, karan gone, 7th ed corsairs codex gone, rumor for new corsair kit foiled, autarch skyrunner gone... i got aLOT to homebrew if i hope to play again XD. not to mention 3d sculpting & printing out some shrines. Did we know all the relationships between the Phoenix lords? Also did we already know Asurmen’s name? And as far as Jain goes couldn’t we just as easily explain it as Jain has lost faith in what the Yinnari are? Jain thought Yvraine was something she wasn’t at the beginning and now is disillusioned with the cause now?
Wrong, Karandras is just delayed. He is not gone. There is also absolutely nothing in the article to indicate that Karandras will not have rules in the codex. Unless you have a copy of the codex in hand right now, stop making unnecessary drama!
@@CatroiOz Lore wise they say he's missing. As in the story. It does not say he is missing from the codex. The new model isn't ready and they probably don't want to show his derpy model next to all the shiny new ones. This is definitely not a confirmation of him being removed.

Looks like they just focused on the new models, seams very odd to get a scorpion KT set and get rid of the Phoenix lord. I'm sure he will still be legal, and updated model down the line.
they update all the ones I love, include the one I have always wanted and then bye bye to one of my favs :( lol
Something to hopefully look forward to in the future
Kind of crushes my thought that GW were leading us towards 40k being AOS accessioned as its the same outcome with Russ returning
Ffs they are punishing us for their own stupidity of forgetting him
Where did you read that Karandras will get no datasheet/rules? I am curious
I guess we’ll find out when the actual codex comes out. Until then…
It could be back in another way that separate from the actual book release it’s happened often
Centuries? Is he out hunting Necrons?
Seeing how next to nothing lives that long in 40K 😅
This might get lost in the comments. But if possible can you turn down the initial noise from the intro. It's just much louder than the rest of your video.
I'm sad, since Karandras is my oldest model. He is the first model I ever purchased 29 years ago. When I read it the first time I didn't pickup that he wasn't going to be available. Maybe in 11th edition we get a Karandras update vs Drazhar update? Confirmation the Incubi and Scorpions are the same aspect and align them with Ynnari?
Pretty bloody devestated but Lyhkis is helping to soothe it
This comment needs more powerful sounding adjectives. But not adverbs.
@@AlamoMelt 😅
He isn't gone. Just a stupid way for them to say "we forgot to update the model". A 2nd less likely option, he will be added to the Dark Eldar book. This would be to tie the factions closer together.
gotta love those retcons
Wow, I’d completely skipped over that in the article. Interesting. I wonder if he’ll be back in a campaign/crusade pack later
Aren't these old models that are now rebranded?
Who’s ready to find out how eldar will break the game this time?
Current count of playable aspects is ten. IIRC there's an aspect called the Slicing Orbs in the lore, but no idea how they work as they've never been represented in the game.
I wonder if Yvraine can revive arhra and the other phoenix lords back to living bodies. I don't think the data sheet for Karandras is going away
Don't worry about eldar being disbanded, cegorach will of course save us and gw will get rid of all of chaos over us.
It's only logical
RIP Uncle K 😢
Gutted to lose my favourite Phoenix Lord. I heard a while back when the rumours of new sculpts started flying around that GW had straight up forgotten about Karandras in the process of sculpting new stuff. This does have a bit of a whiff of “oh shit we forgot something. Quick, make up some new lore to cover our asses”. 🤦🏼😂
Interesting
I think he'll come back in some sort of box set release later this year.
@@dylanvodden1369 we will find out when the codex drops
dude they did him dirty
Can we trade Baharroth for Karandras? My jump pack sniper unit doesn't need a melee champion, but my melee unit could really do with one.
OK, was waiting to get the GW Karandras but with this news I'll just hit up 3rd party for a new sculpt to use in OPR
That's lame... the Striking Scorpions aren't my favorite Aspect Warriors, but I love their darker counter parts, the Incubi. But not haveing him while Drazhar is running around is a bummer.
Is the video title meant to be is gone ?😂
The article stated him as one of the other PLs. I don't read this as he won't be playable. It's at least not a confirmation. I assume they just don't want to show the old derpy model.
I hope this doesn’t s not true! Could we opt to sacrifice Maugan Ra instead?!
I hope youre wrong about Karandras being excluded in the codex. I regularly run Karandras in my lists.
hm, FW gone, karan gone, 7th ed corsairs codex gone, rumor for new corsair kit foiled, autarch skyrunner gone... i got aLOT to homebrew if i hope to play again XD. not to mention 3d sculpting & printing out some shrines. Hoping the rules are good for yall still kickin it in 10th, but im a bit disappointed for my own sake.
Oh my god I literally just made a proxy for karandras 😢
10:28 lies. Crimson Hunters were introduced in 6th edition.
@@AvocadoDandy touche
All the new phoenix Lords are cool but karandras and striking scorpions are the coolest aspect warriors and phoenix lord, this is not ok
For the algorithm :)
Wrong, Karandras is just delayed. He is not gone. There is also absolutely nothing in the article to indicate that Karandras will not have rules in the codex. Unless you have a copy of the codex in hand right now, stop making unnecessary drama!
I’ll be the daemon on the other shoulder and say “YESSS more drama! Do whatever you must for the clicks, the views. Boost the algorithm!”
The article literally states Karandras has gone missing mate
@@CatroiOz Lore wise they say he's missing. As in the story. It does not say he is missing from the codex. The new model isn't ready and they probably don't want to show his derpy model next to all the shiny new ones. This is definitely not a confirmation of him being removed.
So Karandras is like Gandalf at Rivendell. Frodo "where were you?" Gandalf "I was delayed"
Maybe the they just update him later this team an bring him with a Christmas box.
The lore excuse is dumb, they can always just say the Eagle Pilot or whatever Phoenix Lord is gone.
Have you seen the leaked rules for Shrine Tokens? All I can say is Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. They basically get their own fate dice once per Battle.
Would rather have karandras than maganra
we want Karandras!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
