    I just wanna say, the parts where you "fail" are some of the reasons this show is the best out there for crafts. Too often I see shows where they make it look easy and perfect in a first run. You actually sold me on an Elegoo Mars printer BECAUSE you showed yourself failing, it made it seem possible and helped me think of solutions if mine fail. So thanks for not being afraid to show moments where you tried something new and it didnt work out!

    It's easier to draw a round edge when you take advantage of your anatomy. Flex your wrist without moving your forearm as if you are writing. Notice that the tips of your fingers move in a natural curvature. If you draw a circle "from the inside" (as if your wrist is in the circle, not outside), it'll be smoother & less laborious.

    That was a really fascinating technique, Crafsman---I just love how you break things down real simple and make it accessible for everyone from beginners on up. Even the less-successful attempts are really helpful, because 1) They're experiments where we discover with you what works and what doesn't, and more important 2) It helps us give ourselves permission to just play around with something new, without the pressure of things turning out right all the time. Maybe you get a little frustrated when things don't turn out, but I think it really helps us go easier on ourselves to know that it doesn't have to be perfect every time. You're so encouraging and inspiring--keep encouraged yourself! That bleach technique worked out FANTASTIC, by the way.

    • @TheCrafsMan
      @TheCrafsMan  5 лет назад +28

      Hey Scott! :D I'm glad to hear this! There was a moment where I started to just grab that one extra shirt I had (I bought 3 for this) and re-shoot the process. But I kept it, so y'all could see the very first time, the very first results. It would be easy to scrap it, re-shoot, get a nice print (having learned from my first experience), but then I just imagine someone out there trying this, and getting poor results their first time, getting discouraged..... So I just kept it honest, yet also, hopefully, showed that you can get clean results if you want to.

    Hey Crafsman! I love that you covered this technique! You can also pick up fabric medium at the craft store (usually less that $5, found near the paints) that you can mix with pretty much any acrylic paint to make it washable. I've been using it for years, and the result holds up for a very long time with little cracking or fading. And since you're mixing it with your choice of paint, you can do ANY color you like, even metallic, glitter, etc.

    Wow--talk about learning something new everyday! I've been airbrushing for almost 40 years now, a lotta t-shirts but also leather jackets, cars, bikes, silk neckties, photo-realism on illustration board--you name it, I've probably airbrushed on it if it sat still long enough.....but I've never known about being able to iron freezer paper onto fabric to use as a stencil! I've always used cheap posterboard and spray adhesive, mostly because many of my stencils are extremely complicated multi-piece affairs, but this info about freezer paper gives me some ideas for some of my simpler designs. One in particular is the basic stencil I use to airbrush very realistic faux neckties on t-shirts--I could use the freezer paper for a one-off use rather than using posterboard and trying to save my stencil for future use. Normally I wind up with a bunch of stencils of different size ties for different size shirts all stuck together no matter how I try to store them. Thanks a lot, I'm now subscribed!

    Craftsman, you won’t believe this.
    I wanted to show my wife who you are, and I ran into this video I hadn’t seen yet.
    It was like opening a Pandora’s box. The next day I was doing this. Stenciling was hard (I have a bit of arthritis) but I loved the results. My wife asked if there was an easy way, and I said “maybe a Cricut”. She agreed (to my surprise).
    Fast forward to less than 2 months later, I have: a cricut, with a rather obscene amount of Vinyl; a heat press that can do shirts, mugs, caps and plates, and my own store at shopify (AguiloDesigns).
    Thanks, Craftsman, for all that you do.

    Nothing ever had me laughing as hard as it had me going "Aww man, it's okay" as 11:46 did
    I just love how real you are, and I especially love your mindset of how it's okay to make mistakes and still look at them and learn from them (although that print still looked pretty amazing!)

      :D Thank you, my friend! Whenever first-attempts turn out bad like that, I'm always tempted to cut them from the video... but comments like yours remind me why it is always better to leave them in. I appreciate you!

    This is something I've been trying to figure out for literally months, since I don't have anyone who's willing to let me use their Cricut lol
    Another happy subscriber ~
