My classic click pawl reel has a smooth rounded rim - edge, my palm on that rim is very adjustable, for brookies and pan fish it works well, simple, reliable and light, a good balance to a 7 foot 3wt rod and line.
I love click and pawls now. Used to use disc drags but have had some stick due to sand or just being cheap. The click pawls last forever and you can adjust drag easy with your palm
For trout ive really liked the click and pawl style reels. I dont like having to adjust my drag mid fight when i need to put a fish on the reel. Sometimes i will be using 6x and sometimes 2x, the click and pawl is just dependable and i can put enough pressure on a fish to bend out a hook
Hey Spencer, my name is Jody. I’m from western North Carolina. I have basically used spin cast for trout but I’m wanting to get into fly fishing just wanting a different challenge. I’ve watched all of y’all’s models for beginners but I’ve caught 20” trout on 2# test line. How do I convert that to fly fishing?
Hey Jody. Nice to meet ya! How to start fly fishing? 1. Get the gear (check out our starter pack on the website). 2. Learn the skills (sounds like you’re already off to a great start by watching the Masterclass. Casting, mending, picking the right fly, etc.) 3. Find places to fly fish (sounds like you already know where to find trout). Hope this helps!
How do you like it? I've reviewed a lot of Echo rods, but never had the chance to review their reels. What do you like most about it, other than the price?

I love my Lamson Liquid Reel, not expensive, nice drag, and balances my fly flinger nicely!
😎🤙🏽 it’s a good one!
Yeah that Lamson Liquid might be the best value out there, especially if you get the three-pack of spools with it.
Great show, and I like the new picture of the brown behind your desk. 👍😃
Haha thanks! It’s a beautiful little print. Appreciate the comment. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
That brown trout print is gorgeous! The artist is George Hill, he's wonderfully talented.

A click-pawl is fantastic for those lighter weight rods. I have a few I use on my 4wts - Spencer

Appreciate you, Jim!
reely reely reely good dadcast, I mean podcast😆
😂😂😂
#1 reason to put them on the reel....so you don't have a mess of line in the way of netting the fish.
amazing video

I use an Echo basic $50.00

I'm using it on a beginners ,9 foot 5 weight. The drag seems real smooth although I don't need it often, and for a beginner it casts pretty good.
