    You can still use the cut hook using a snell knot and maybe superglue. I don't know about now-a-days but we would snell hooks minus eye for match (sea) fishing. I would chop off eyes for everyday fishing- very good for worm baits. Never lost a fish glued or unglued knot.

    Started using hair rigs after watching some of your vids a while ago now. Used to deep hook quite a few fish especially smaller such as whiting, school bass and flatties. Hardly any now, and so much easier unhooking them😁👍

    Circle sizes: 1,1/0 & 2/0. I have @ 30 if each tied & ready to fish. Now let's just see if I can find those Black Backs (winter flounder) I've been talking about. BTW... I've also made a hand full of dingle dangles out to 12/0 for striped bass. With a few 9/0 &10/0's for other toothy critters made with wire. I may not be ready for the season. But I have a decent running start at it. Post-surgery therapy is way ahead of what was expected. It's looking like I'll have line wet some time in February. Billy, to you & yours I wish you a Merry Christmas and an outstanding New Years. Thanx for posting. And who knows...Maybe I'll see you on the beach this next year. lol

    I made some of these today ready for spring monster plaice or tiny dabs, I didn't have any small hooks so I smacked the end of a grip lead wire flat and bent it round to make a spade end clip hook thing.
    Also made an emergency baiting needle by knocking a 1.2mm crimp onto the end of some 1.5mm ss wire, I put a bit of a point on the wire first to start it off, yay me 🐛🐟👍

    You can use any hook if you burn the temper out of it using a cigarette lighter, match, hotplate, whatever you have. Just heat the hook really hot and let it slowly cool down. Stops hooks snapping. I guess if it's too weak , you could reharden the hook afterwards. Just get it hot enough and dunk in cold water.
    I make dingles out of 50lb dacron tied with a Uni knot and super glued.

    • @Billyfishing_watch
      @Billyfishing_watch  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Red. Actually you need the tamper in the hooks. because they will open under the pressure of the cast, and on clip from the rig. Thanks Brother 😁👍
