What a genius he was. Ross was lucky to have even sat beside him, if he had known better he would have just let him talk more. How does that guy still have a job all this time later. We are bereft of individuals like Peter Cook now.
Ross is an utter embarrassment with his feeble 'Dorian Gray' efforts to remain youthful (mainly ludicrous hairdos) and his sycophantic interviewing style. I remember him slagging of Sarah Jessica Parker to Kim Cattrall, calling her 'old horseface', then he had SJP on a few weeks later and told her with a straight face he considered her very beautiful.... and him begging Morrissey to be his friend was downright painful to view - particularly as Morrissey quite rightly, recoiled at this slimy advance.
I’m not an Englishman, and I’m not familiar With this show, but wasn’t the legendary Mr. Cook was entitled to more respect than this talk show host gave him?
What do you remember? I imagine you in a living room. Were you in a living room? Maybe it was just after dinner. Presumably you experienced feelings while watching this, feelings that made you wish to comment on the video about your earlier years watching the video. My point is only learn how to tell a story.
Are you a health conscious man ? Drags on cigarette 'No. I'm a conscious person' Absolute legend. 'We've run out of time ....' 'And I've run out of health'.
Does anyone else remember Bruce Forsthye's chat show in the 90s? It had Dud on and in a surprise finale, Pete turned up. I swear it happened but seems lost now!
As so much of Peter is. Where do I sit? is lost even to Google. Thankfully, a part of me remembers the title. Unfortunately, I've never seen the series. They scrapped the tapes.
@dollybeth It is sad! At uni today we learnt how drinking lots can cause massive internal haemorrhaging (in a roundabout way) and all I could think was nooooo poor Peter Cook :( but clips like this do spice up my study time something wonderful :)
yeh i will keep uploading the stuff i have that i can but i think most are too long for upload here, not that i have lots its in short supply, just keep searching peter cook i uploaded a new one earlyer.
JR:"are you a health conscious kind of guy?" (as PC is puffing away).. PC: "..i am just conscious " lol!! nowdays they have passed a law stopping people smoking indoors so this wouldnt be PC (politically coerrect!) interesting he died from something not related to smoking like a trooper. RIP
keri caye ,woes is so confrontational because he can’t stand being so humiliated, that’s when wows was learning his trade, but he was like that with many guests who did not even try to take woes on, woes was just so insecure.
I must admit, 'Woss' looks like a fairly typical eighties spaz here, most of his jokes do seem to come out his own 'wearend', certainly not the lovable eccentric Ross that we have all grown to love. A definite change for the better. I did feel he was a bit challenging to Cook rather than deferential, which I think is an early blossoming of the style for which he has become known, though he obviously hadnt mastered it at that time.
and why didn't he do a lot of T.V. `these days'? Because truly talented, edgy and provocative comedians like Peter Cook and Bill Hicks are too risky for mainstream mediocre media shit.
Bill Hicks had his own comedy special that aired in the UK which was unexpurgated and chandelled him into a cult figure. I'm sure he would've been more popular in USA if they'd granted him the discretionary privilege on home turf he would've been lauded before his premature death.
Peter Cook was fantastic. Miss him
Every response Peter Cook makes to Ross's banal questions disappear in a moment but are exquisitely witty.
They do disappear, the beauty and peril of improvisation. The reason, and the reason not to, to aspire to purer music.
peter morningsnow and what purer music would that be jazz, or classical

Ross is so outclassed. Floundering like he doesn't just know how to deal with PC... which is how it should be.
I completely disagree, mutual respect and quickfire banter from the pair of them
@@PeterSellers22 Ross cannot hold a candle to Cook, that is all too evident.
Peter Cook.....genius of satire and an incredibly funny man. RIP
Wossy didn't dare take him on because he knew Cookie would have effortlessly exposed him as the light-weight that he is. RIP Peter.
Would have been an even better interview if Jonathon Ross wasn't there.
Genius! Love the line about having to learn his lines for 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?'.
Guys like cooke should just live forever!
"Independent wealth and blackmail" - Brilliant.
I’m not an Englishman, and I’m not familiar With this show, but wasn’t the legendary Mr. Cook was entitled to more respect than this talk show host gave him?
Merry Christmas Rest In Peace Peter Cook.
I'm very glad someone still has this on video! I remember watching it at the time...thanks for uploading

this is a brilliant interview with a true legend
stude Back when the first comments weren't saying 'first'
Are you a health conscious man ? Drags on cigarette 'No. I'm a conscious person' Absolute legend. 'We've run out of time ....' 'And I've run out of health'.
brilliant
The interview questions are so awkward and personal.
"Independent wealth and blackmail" - love it.
"Independent wealth and blackmail'
R.I.P. Peter!
"It doesn't come across well in print at all"
lol
This was brilliant
A genius for doing just that.
love the way ross tryed to lower the tone by slagging of beadel but cook dident bye into it and just said yea but its a grate show.
A comedy genious!
Miss him.
@badfaith75
It is a brilliant one line Cook special!

Yep, it did.

Rainbow George was the neighbour.

johnathon ross was a bit rubbish back then, but cook is of course on form as always ^^
Its even more amazing that they now cant!
Wow. Ross is so flippin' YOUNG here.
Lydia , and ignorant.
And just as awful a host as he is now.
Give up now Woss
Did you still afterwards go down to the uni bar?
JR:"are you a health conscious kind of guy?" (as PC is puffing away).. PC: "..i am just conscious " lol!! nowdays they have passed a law stopping people smoking indoors so this wouldnt be PC (politically coerrect!) interesting he died from something not related to smoking like a trooper. RIP
Peter fashion hasn’t aged at all, not like that unfunny clown on the left, wish you were still here to brighten up the crap chat shows Peter, RIP.
I never realized until I watched this that J.Ross likes a good game of hitting the mole down the hole haha
Ross doesnt know what he's doing..should leave it to Parkinson
A poor substitute for a poorer substitute.
Rude and insulting was Ros's questions to Cook. I'm so glad Ross came gropper with Brand over Manuelgate scandal.
Jay Leno.
@chompersdayoff Always annoying when it won't go in edgeways.
do you "wight" anything for the ....their both so cute
They really aren't. However you are. What are you doing this evening?
keri caye ,woes is so confrontational because he can’t stand being so humiliated, that’s when wows was learning his trade, but he was like that with many guests who did not even try to take woes on, woes was just so insecure.
Peter Cook is my hero, but come on! Johnathan Ross is so young here. It would be different today
Yes, Ross was learning his trade here; suddenly up to the precipitous level of Cook must have been dizzying.
I must admit, 'Woss' looks like a fairly typical eighties spaz here, most of his jokes do seem to come out his own 'wearend', certainly not the lovable eccentric Ross that we have all grown to love. what the fuk is that background? ?
i never thot of it before.
Houses of parliament

Wrong video. Post your comment on the correct video, please.
Thomas Chippendale was a cabinet-maker in London who designed furniture. English Rococo don’t you know.
Ross out of his depth no idea how to interview ...peter just made him look a fool which unfortunately he is
Uncomfortable watching how awkward Ross is.
