Yeah, I heard of keeping the fuse in cake but I rarely have that issue as I would rather use another match if I had a bad one then light the fuse but I understand why you keep it in the cake in case you need it.
As long as you don't have any current running through those igniters and don't drop your fireworks form some height you should be safe just know it could always happen so stay safe and have a great 4th of July NoDak Pyro!
I see some other Pyro's do that as well. I just don't want to have to throw all those rubber boots away on the field so I do it while prepping my show. Either way, its best to do the most of the setup before the day comes as I hate when you run out of time on the display day.
That's for the excellent detailed video.. very helpful! I always thought Talon style igniters were easier, and I wasn't sure about boring into each cake to place the e match, but it looks easy enough. Question though.. on those 200g cakes it looks like you added a sleeve onto the green visco then put the e match in the other side. What was that piece, and does it help reliably light the fuse? I know sometimes e matches have trouble igniting with direct contact with fuses. Thanks!
So the consumer grade ematch on the market does not have as long as a burn time or burns as hot like the 1.3 professional regulated ematch does. So like you mentioned connecting it to a fuse may not ignite all the time. I recommend cutting the cake fuse at an angle to expose the black powder inner core and then add a sleeve over the cake fuse that connects the ematch so its not right up against the fuse. As if it does not burn the tip of the cake fuse and only chars the whole side it won't ignite the cake.
Using Ignite Firing System with MJG Ignitors - is there any tips or tricks to inserting the MJGs into NOABS? Feels as if there is a second piece of cardboard to puncture through.
Good question Timothy Allen! The good NOAB's will just have the lift inside of the tube that you can poke like a normal cake. But other NOAB's have a shell in a shell in each tube so you either have to poke through the first tube into that shell or just attach the ignitors to the fuse on the NOAB itself. So if yours feels like another piece of cardboard on the inside of the tube, then you might have the shell in a shell.
Thanks for that tutorial Big T. I'm getting more into Fireworks in my old age. Thinking more & more about hobby pyro, & how to up my backyard game. Yes I light Fireworks but never really set up anything. Just kind of bring em out & pick what I'm going to use light it then go look at my stuff again & choose again. As I've been watching more vids over the past year I've learned a lot & igniters definitely seem the way to go. So thanks. I'm also wondering what types of job opportunities there are out there I'm the pyro industry. Whether it be a shooter or builder. I'm thinking it's time for a job change. I hope u had a great show & will have a great holiday weekend. Stay safe. I look forward to the uploads
Well, nice to hear you might be getting into the firework industry maybe more than before and looking on the manufacturing or shooting side. It's hard to find a year round firework related job as there are not many of them out there and usually the positions are passed down to family members so it's hard to get a good year round career in the firework industry. As if I could I would either shoot shows or help setup displays year round for a company if I ever find the opportunity. Have a great and safe 4th of July Dylan Healy!
Very cool and interesting, plus informative..thank you for sharing. Do you work on professional shows with a company? I will be waiting to see your show. 👍👍😁🇺🇸
Glad you enjoyed the setup of my 4th of July display. Yeah I work professional shows around the 4th to shoot city displays but since most of them got canceled or postponed, I was only able to shoot one city display this year which that video will be out on the 5th this Sunday. Have a safe and great 4th of July cjmr302!
There's no need to take the top off it'll shoot right through the paper it's designed for that I personally take the tops off so it doesn't throw trash and paper like confetti on the ground but other than that it's pointless
You do not need to take the cardboard off the top of a cake as the firework will shoot right through it. You can take it off to prevent less cleanup after you shoot the fireworks but then you run the risk of cross fire which is never good.
You put that fuse on a spool? Or you bought that fuse on a spool? I need that. Why different initiators for different cakes (orange for 200g, white for 500g)?
I bought it from Fireworks Forever I believe and it was a spool of fuse which is how I bought it and the 1.5 second burn time per foot is perfect in a lot of uses so I am glad to have it. Different initiators as I don't tend to like using the MJG when trying to light a fuse so I bring out the orange ones as its flame is a bit bigger and last a bit longer so it insures the fuse will catch a flame.
You could cut the wire but I don't want to burn up my mods when shooting the fireworks. So I keep the wires at full length so I can have them 2 or more feet away in case a cake catches fire it does not burn the Cobra mod. Then when I'm in the field I pull the wire to full length so the crossfire does not occur.
I do pretty much the same way but I leave the fuse incase it dont go we walk around and hit it with the torch ....Happy 4th y'all stay safe!!💥💥💥💥💥

I was feeling nervous about installing my initiators today and letting them sit overnight. Seeing others do it eases my nerves. Nice prep video.

I prep the initiators/ematch like you do but I reattach the black or orange rubber boot to shunted end.
I see some other Pyro's do that as well. I just don't want to have to throw all those rubber boots away on the field so I do it while prepping my show. Either way, its best to do the most of the setup before the day comes as I hate when you run out of time on the display day.
Awesome vid. The way you fused the cakes saves a lot of time.
Yeah, preparing the cakes before the day of the show saved me a lot of time and stress on shoot day. Glad you enjoyed it bppyro pyrotechnic!
Thank you for this video! Last year i had a very non planned firework show/display and very unorganized. Doing this ALL tonight, wish me luck!!
I hope you got it all setup done for today and your show goes well just be safe shooting it!
Great video and thank you for sharing love the contact keep it up 🎆🎇
Glad you enjoyed it Bill y!!!
Big T Pyro that is badass. Be safe and light up the sky.
Awesome happy 4th
Have a safe and great 4th of July PYROMATTIC BOOM!

thank you for making this vid
Hopefully it was able to help you build your display for the 4th!

Hey do i have to take the cardboard lid of my 500 gram display
Trying to figure out if it matters or not
There's no need to take the top off it'll shoot right through the paper it's designed for that I personally take the tops off so it doesn't throw trash and paper like confetti on the ground but other than that it's pointless

Question...I have a piece of white brass its brass its just colored white and I've tested and its non sparkling would it work for this

Awesome
could you cut off the extra wire instead of folding it over?
and folding it over wont cause cross fire since its the same wire?
You could cut the wire but I don't want to burn up my mods when shooting the fireworks. Sweet!!
