That grille is smaller. Also, a larger grille and radiator are technically better even if they're not necessary. Remember they have to cool the electronic components of the drivetrain instead of just the gas powered parts. Hot batteries reduce power, just ask Tesla.

So if the engine is the same as the M5, and detuned to 489 as opposed to 625, surely that means a stage 1 tune will take the overall power from 653 to nearly 800? Obviously that's assuming the torque curve is similar to the M5's, but assuming you can bump up the engine to near the 680-700hp you can from an M5/M8 Competition, and the peaks are in roughly the same places, that'd be a really powerful hybrid. BMWs are known for doing this too, in the tuning circles, with 330es and 545es getting bumped to 400hp and 500hp respectively.
The 489hp version is the N68, the more toned down variant, and it will be put in the "almost M" 50i versions from here on. The S68, with 748hp and 1000Nm, is the true M engine and it will be the one to be put in the Label Red and (hopefully) in the next M5 Competition.

Everyone should see this car in mineral white with those gold trim colors and in combination with the gold rims. It doesn't get any better than that. In my opinion, this is by far the most beautiful BMW of all time and one of the most beautiful SUVs, if not the most beautiful SUV in the world. This aggressive and futuristic design is stunningly beautiful. I just hope that the Label Red version is significantly faster than the normal version. 3.5 seconds from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) must be possible, otherwise the performance is really disappointing. Please do a drag race next year with the BMW XM Label Red, the Urus Performante and the Ferrari Purosangue 🙏 However, the weather conditions should be optimal!
Everything looks amazing except 3 things: Cons: 1. The Interior Cockpit Design is not Driver Centric and not aggressive enough. The Interior is pretty bland looking without a proper Instrument Cluster and a proper Instrument Cluster Cover. The long Infotainment Touchscreen looks naked and unfinished without a proper Instrument Cluster Cover. 2. The Aggressive and Dynamic Exterior Design Theme is not carried over into the Interior Design. 3. The car is way too heavy for any segment. 2,710 kg is way too heavy especially for a Sporty SUV from the M Division. It has to go on a massive diet if it ever wants to be a proper M Car. Pros: 1. Nice exterior design, but it could have way better. It would definitely benefit from a more aggressive and edgy design language if that's the theme that they were initially going with. 2. Thank God BMW didn't give it the massive Kidney Grille treatment. The Front Fascia looks way better now compared to the previous generation 7 and X7. 3. Thank God it still has a Front Longitudinal RWD/ AWD Layout. Symmetrical Powertrain layout is the only reason I'm still a huge Beemer Fanboy. Exterior Design = 7/10 Interior Design = 2/10 Performance = 7/10 Ride and Handling = 5/10 Technology = 7/10 Overall = 28/50 = 56/100
I think it actually looks pretty good in a sober color like black (the blue and gold launch spec is ridiculous imo). But whether or not it's a compelling car will depend on the driving dynamics. Will it have sports car wizardry like the Cayenne? Or will it just be a heavy brute like a G63? And regardless, it's sacrilegious to celebrate M with an SUV.

3. The car is way too heavy for any segment. 2,710 kg is way too heavy especially for a Sporty SUV from the M Division. It has to go on a massive diet if it ever wants to be a proper M Car.
Pros:
1. Nice exterior design, but it could have way better. It would definitely benefit from a more aggressive and edgy design language if that's the theme that they were initially going with.
2. Thank God BMW didn't give it the massive Kidney Grille treatment. The Front Fascia looks way better now compared to the previous generation 7 and X7.
3. Thank God it still has a Front Longitudinal RWD/ AWD Layout. Symmetrical Powertrain layout is the only reason I'm still a huge Beemer Fanboy.

I think it actually looks pretty good in a sober color like black (the blue and gold launch spec is ridiculous imo). But whether or not it's a compelling car will depend on the driving dynamics. Will it have sports car wizardry like the Cayenne? Or will it just be a heavy brute like a G63? And regardless, it's sacrilegious to celebrate M with an SUV.
If a car only looks good in black, you know they messed up the design!
@@travelmates1 i would say the i7 and iX also just look good with black. Especially the iX, ive seen some very ugly colors on it.
They're all trucks you mentioned anyway, so nobody cares how good they (are claimed to) handle...
Put that against Lamborghini urus, Audi q8 rs, Porsche cayenne and the new Ferrari SUV in a drag race!!!
