    • @tylerstilwell2281
      @tylerstilwell2281 2 года назад +9

      @@javierhernandez215 absolutely not, it's an exhaust brake. You ease off throttle, pull knob or flip your switch, then let er sing. Flip off, gear down repeat if need be. It's to assist stopping or slowing down, prevents brakes overheating/warpin rotors if you weighted. Handy shit when you got a butt puckerin load.

    • @AndrewBrowner
      @AndrewBrowner 2 года назад

      @@javierhernandez215 its an exhaust brake though, not a jake brake, if youre used to jake brakes the braking factor isnt going to be near as much but im sure it helps if you have alot of weight every bit of heat kept out of the brakes in the moutains is nice.. but unless youre towing 25000lbs over the rockys its probably not necessary disk brakes and even drums have come along way since the days of them fading out to nothing even when the truck is under its rated capacity.. im sure part of a truck getting a capacity of say 31,000lbs towing is that it has to be able to brake all that weight without fading on even the worst roads in the country, the roads are built to a standard too that takes this into account

    Other than that she still runs pretty darn smooth all these years later.
    Could definitely benefit from new engine mounts though, and for that matter it might not hurt to replace the lift pump. And a wishlist item is to upgrade the steering to 4th Gen as well...
