Excellent tutorial! I like that you get right to the point with clear examples and no nonsense. I just received my new Rytm and love it and learning so far. Having experience with other Elektron gear helps a lot.
Thanks so much for that tutorial. Just got my Rytm MK2 and was overhelmed by the amount of functions and parameters compared to my classic 909 ;) This video really helped me getting started. Much appreciated!!
Hello there! Just came by to appreciate your effort. I know the Elektron way of doing things and watched this anyway. Good quick start guide for beginners, so you did everything right! :)
@5:38 Re, Kick's Overdrive p-locks. This carries some assumptions on my part, however, I think using glide-trigs would be been a better use here. p-locks create snapshots of whatever values you are interested in adjusting. glide-locks sweep or "glide" between values. Think of an automation lane in your DAW. This becomes apparent when you have to re-do the capture by wiggling the knob about. This essentially creates many p-locks to judder the value around. Perhaps a series of glide locks would have been a more elegant solution? There is very little information regarding glide-locks (the manual has barely a paragraph detailing it) and needs more tutorials created for it.
I completely agree with you Dave. Glide would be better, or even just P-locking (the decay, not the overdrive) on the trigs that are active (red). I think that would work as well. If we were automating the overdrive, glide would definitely be the solution to avoid juddering volume . I have to admit I don't use the glide function a lot, so I might look into that a bit more and perhaps share what I learned in a video. Thanks for the tip!
Saving for one of these and learning as much as I can about it. Watched a few of these vids and this was the most informative one! Wanted to give kudos where due!
Hei Sindre ! Takk for inspirerende tutorial. Har akkurat kjøpt meg ARmk2, og det var kult med en funky lofoting:) Er opprinnelig derfra, ,men bor nå i Trondheim. Lykke til videre, er mulig jeg kan komme med noen spørsmål etterhvert….😊
Am I the only one who has to hit the pads with a lot of pressure to trigger the sound to be louder? I bought my analog Rytm mk2 secondhand and I don't know if this is a newbie thing, but I literally have to slam the pads to make any sound come out of it. Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity of the full sound of each pad? I have even maxed the main volume and track level...
The pads are quite stiff compared to MPC and such, but I don’t see it as that big of a problem. Try the FIX button to fix pads at 100% velocity and let me know how that works.
Thanks for this great entry tutorial. This is such a beast of a machine and a lot of the tutorials are too advanced when first starting out.

The swedish word "Lagom" describes it perfectly! Thx for this awesome tutorial, straight to the point! Keep it up!
