Hi, I'm Sindre and I make electronic music and synthesizer tutorials.
Elektron Digitone and Analog Four Ambient Arpeggios | "Deus"
A "short" ambient piece running at various multiples of 30 BPM using the wonderful arpeggiators on these machines.
The A4 MK2 does bass, downward arpeggio and lead, while the Digitone takes care of pads and other arpeggios and ambience. The digitone goes through the inputs of the A4, getting a smidge of reverb and delay after its internal effects.
Some light limiting was done in Ableton.

So, my Analog Rytm MK2 is out for repair, and I don't have any other drum machines at the moment. I thought this was a good time to try using my A4 as a groovebox despite it only having 4 voices. I think it went pretty alright. Let me know what you thought!

A short jam I wanted to share. Everything you hear is analog except for the two samples on track 5 and 6 on the Rytm. These are stock samples run through the distortion on the Rytm. Everything goes through the Roland AIRA MX-1 performance mixer, I absolutely love this thing for EDM. ZOIA as a send effect with hi-passed reverb and noise. Enjoy!

Again, I doodled around with the ZOIA and got inspired to make a video. All source audio comes from the Digitone, and then goes into ZOIA for processing. Some minor mastering was done in Ableton Live 10.

I have an AK. I love it, i'll always want on, or better= an A4mk2 around to play. I have a weird wish that the effects could be fed-back into parts of the synth, like the chorus to the AM, or th infinite reverb into some kind of resonator array or vocoder for additional shaping and processing..
i could see having 3-4. Keep keyes for playing in full poly, or arps and textures, one just for drums perc bass, onre mpr for additional phrases, textures, treatments,CV, FX, inputs, etc
these presets are moody goody and fruity. a lot of cytbergoth vibes, and some sleazy sex music ones (that me wet just listening, can't wait to play)

Imagine in 50 years time these will be going for a pretty penny. Just look at how much the discontinued mono machine goes for these days. But it was the one that sold least of the originals so guess it’s become quite rare.

Whats the difference between fltr env depth and fltr cutoff? Is it the same thing?
Env depth is the degree to which the envelope is affecting the filter cutoff. Fltr cutoff is a manual control for the filter cutoff.

Can I send it four-note chords with midi? I’m thinking of getting the A4 MK1, but I’m confused, would I have to send each note to a different midi channel so it plays each one on a different voice? Or could one voice play four-note polyphony?
You can choose how you want it to work by dividing the voices between the tracks. By default I think every track is set up as polyphonic.
@@sindre.pedersen OK, gotcha thanks! I could set each voice to be the same MIDI channel and then send it polyphonic MIDI. It's hard to find anyone really doing this with the A4 on YT, hence why I was curious.

Hi - I just received a used Analog MKII that appears in excellent condition. But after testing all the functionality, pushing down on the Sound Browser knob doesn’t always work to select menu items. I have to push the knob two or three times before it goes to a new menu page. This doesnt always happen - it works more than it doesn’t. Is this a known issue with this knob? Everything else seems to be working fine.
Sounds like a fault, but just use the YES button - it’s more reliable anyways
@@sindre.pedersen Thanks for the advice :) Ya, its in near mint, everything else works great and even the encoder works when you use it to adjust larger increments (when pushing in the knob). I got it for 900.00 So maybe just keep it and get the encoder fixed at some point?
@@sindre.pedersen Elektron got back to me and told me it’s a known issue to be fixed in update. They also gave me the same good advice you gave and to use the arrow keys and yes/no keys. Thanks!
This is so helpful! Please do more videos with the A4! There is a dearth of meaningful in depth tutorials for the A4 on RUclips. You're missed too!

Excellent tutorial! I like that you get right to the point with clear examples and no nonsense. I just received my new Rytm and love it and learning so far. Having experience with other Elektron gear helps a lot.

What happened to your Rytm that it needed repair?
Nothing happened to it to my knowledge, just suddenly one day the screen had a line going through it. Was a quick and free fix.

Some sounds appear to use trancey unison detune - how does that work with the 4 voices? Do they share oscillators?

Gives deeper sound design than the AR, but will take way more time to program. Depends what you want tbh.

Try factory reset. If not, download them from Elektron's website.
How to load presets? Can't find them on my mk2 black anywhere. Pls help

Thanks for posting this audio. I'm sure I heard a 909 hi-hat in there. Does the Mk2 come with built-in samples? If so approx how many?
There's a sample library out of the box, so you're probably correct.
