There's also Chapelwaite which is another take on Salem's Lot. But honestly I thought this movie was well done. Better than the original miniseries and the 2000 two part movie. The ending to this movie was perfect. Not sure what people are complaining about as it's the best I've seen for a vampire movie. I also enjoyed last voyage of the Dimitar but this movie was better.
Salems Lot was suppose to be 3 hrs and the studio cut it to 2hrs this movie went straight for the jugular. Pacing was way too fast. And no time to take a breather. The character development in the town was missing.
It is in theatre's buddy! Right now its playing in cinema's across the UK and Ireland and many other countries on the big screen. Not sure why the US only got this highly anticipated movie on Max streaming. Most other countries, including the UK and Ireland have had this on the big screen since friday October 11th. 🙂✌️
Well it deserves a cinema release. I thought this was the best vampire movie in a long time. There's also last voyage of the Dimitar which wasn't bad. Midnight mass and Chapelwaite miniseries gives much more character development but for a movie I thought this was great and deserves a cinema showing.
I had a little bit of hope for this. Regardless of your review- I'm still gonna watch it. I saw the original and it was the first time I was properly terrified- especially the jump scare when it showed the nosfaratu type vampire. I remember hopping over the sofa and running out of the room. Always stuck with me even to this day. It's rare these days that horror movies get it right. Someone said last good 'take' on Salems lot was Midnight Mass which was brilliant and a great story. Relying on jump scares all through a movie and the monster/ghost been showing in the backround is getting old. But then again right now we have screenwriters been influenced by these substandard movies- they go on to write more garbage. Good review though and thanks.
Read this: Mess of a movie. Steve Urkel can be seen in the film. Why are those vampires sitting in the trunks of their cars as a coffin. But what if you drove a VW Beetle as a pre-vampire? Marlyn Manson also had a nice role.
If your a baby boomer like me you can have an appreciation for the drive-in scene with all the cool 60"s and 70's cars which I thought was quite creative. i saw the original when it first aired and was impressed with the realism and good acting. Did not feel this one was really that bad, thought the ending was a little anti-climactic. All in all, not a bad remake.
Of course it would have been better as a mini series. That is why the OG was much better. BTW, I liked this movie going in with 2004 low expectations. It was creepy and fun if you don't think about it too hard.
Sounds like another case of leave a classic alone. Remakes suck because it’s the time and generation when it was made. You can’t modernize a movie to today because outside of terrifier series it’s just cheap knock offs with no heart( poltergeist, the fog. Nightmare on elm st) leave it alone Hollywood you suck now
This movie was good ,did u even see it? Are we excpecting oscar movies ,every movie out? This movie is a feelgood vampire movie with horrors and ups and downs
This was not made for the story which has already been written and adapted very well. It was made for the same reason everything is being re-made today. To replace white characters with black ones or white men with females (or the ultimate) black females.
The movie is lame!!! They should have kept it ole skool, l understand it’s 2024, but the movie should have been similar to the exact 1979 Salem’s lot.. Mr. Barlow look like a vampire from the movie blade.. 1979 Salem’s lot is the BEST OF ALL TIME!!!
Honestly the original miniseries was good in its time but it doesn't hold up today. This movie took all the best bits and turned it into a great popcorn 🍿 flick. Yes the pacing is fast and there's little character development but it gets to the good stuff with a perfect Battle Royale ending at the ol' drive in theater. What's cool is they kept the aesthetic in the 70s the retro cars, outdoor theater, CRT TV and no mobile phone. A great homage to Stephen King's early work.
Any complaints?Call Warner Bros..I'm guessing the 60 minutes that were left on the cutting room floor were essential to the finished project..Hopefully they will add them later on,maybe?WB ruined this movie..WB ruins everything...F WB...
I feel the best modern take on Salems Lot was Mike Flanagan's Midnight Mass.
Totally agree. Great writing and a great story. Even the Island itself was such a great choice.

Like Justice League WE NEED a 3 hours version of this movie !
Would have been much better served as a miniseries

It was fun, crosses hurt demons again
I just got my blue ray of the new Salem's lot and I'm have to say I liked it.
I enjoyed it in spite of the short runtime. This needed to be spread out into two parts. It went by too quickly.

I have to say, I love the music you have in the background as all the creepy stuff is showing on screen. ☺️
Why was a trench dug underneath car when kid
Jumps underneath?
The pacing was wack, hopefully they have an extended cut. It really did have some good elements overall

The problem with the creepy part of this movie is that there's none. Other than a few jumps, the overall result was tedious.
Finally crosses and priest in horror movies where they belong
You must look up ""The Keep" from '83 dude.
@@paulwee1924dus the keep,ok bro i appreciate it,from 83 ok im looking for it now
Here’s a review, it’s shit & not worth your time!

I can see why it went right to streaming man. This movie was a flop.
Terrible movie
