      Thank you !!! You know before I started my RUclips channel, I noticed that most videos would leave out a lot of important information , just to keep their videos at 15 mins or under . On most jobs does it only take 15 mins or under ? No !!! In the real world 🌎 people like you do the job right the first time by showing the right ways step by step and showing the wrong ways , and what has the be done the correct that . I’m not perfect, and I do call myself out when something goes wrong . Watch my steering wheel video for a laugh , the job when totally bad lol 😂. But in the end I did get a steering wheel on.

    Awesome. The fan on my truck doesn't move at all. Works only with the inside switch. What would possibly be? Thermostat, sensor, fan clutch?

    • @Starkeyfamilyfixing
      @Starkeyfamilyfixing  2 месяца назад

      First you need to see how the switch is hooked up . Is it an air switch inside the truck or like I did in my truck is it electrical?

    i have freightliner Columbia but my fan says on i changed the solenoid and ac switch and i have no air leak and fan clutch did not get stuck i have checked everything you mention on your video but my fan stays on the second thing i have is i don't have cruise control when iam driving but when i am parked i have cruise control i changed clutch switch and cruise control switch but still i have the same issue

    • @Starkeyfamilyfixing
      @Starkeyfamilyfixing  2 года назад

      is your engine break working ? sometimes the clutch is out of adjustment , this will affect your switch , on the fan sometimes the guts fall apart , locking the fan on with no leak . most of the time there is a leak

    • @khadardahir2657
      @khadardahir2657 2 года назад

      no engine break is not working

      There are air switches underneath your dash right where the ashtray/compartment is in a freightliner Columbia, one of those air switches controls your cruise control. I had a leak and switch them out and my cruise control stopped working found out later. There are two types of air switches under there. Make sure you get the right one I can almost guarantee, that is what your issue is. If you have already changed out the actual power switch there are videos about it on RUclips. That’s how I found out just search cruise control air switch freightliner Columbia. Hope this helps.

    Yesterday I was driving home, too, turned on, fan clutch and started working. I thought maybe the solenoid needs to be replaced. I changed a new one. but still on I came home. And was about change clutch But then I started to rummage, the wiring found frayed under starter and it was all a problem. started working properly.

    Can you stop your fan by hand while clutch disengage on idle ?
    I can stop mine and while idle temp slightly start to climb.

    • @Starkeyfamilyfixing
      @Starkeyfamilyfixing  2 года назад +1

      Welll that is a good way to loose your hand !! Your air conditioner / defroster can cause the fan to engage also !!!

  • @Me-ym6ji

    My fan keep spinning. I wasn’t getting any 12v to the high pressure. So I rig up a 12v and grounds to them. But my fan still constantly spinning.

    • @Starkeyfamilyfixing
      @Starkeyfamilyfixing  2 года назад

      If you took care of the electrical side , then took care of the air side , and everything checks out , your fan hub may be bad and will need replacing. As a last thing, if you have an air compressor with a blow gun end , take the air line on the firewall side ( not the fan side ) and blow air in it while the truck is running, if it releases the fan is good . Do not get anywhere around the fan , nor try to touch the fan while engine is on !!!!!

    • @Me-ym6ji
      @Me-ym6ji 2 года назад +1

      @@Starkeyfamilyfixing So I disconnected the air line going to the solenoid and put it straight to the line going to the fan clutch. There’s a loud air leak coming from the front of the fan/clutch. So I’m guessing the fan clutch is broken😩

    • @Me-ym6ji
      @Me-ym6ji 2 года назад +1

      It’s spins just the same, but air coming from the front

    • @Starkeyfamilyfixing
      @Starkeyfamilyfixing  2 года назад

      @@Me-ym6ji yeah it’s bad , I would recommend not rebuilding it or buying one that has been rebuilt. I would recommend buying a new fan hub .

    When you open your switch are u able to spin the fan by hand is that Normal

    • @Starkeyfamilyfixing
      @Starkeyfamilyfixing  7 месяцев назад +1

      Fan is free , but if you’re asking while the engine is running. 1st off if the engine is running absolutely for no reason touch the fan !! If it turns on your hand and fingers can get chopped off !!!!! But the reason why the fan will still spin even when it’s disengaged is there is still some rolling force from the bearings . Now with the key switch turned off this will default the fan solenoid cutting the power , which turns the air pressure off and locks the fan . It’s a safety built in so your engine will not overheat. Default engine fan runs with no electric and no air pressure.
      Hope this answers your question.

    • @lifeitsgreat

      @@Starkeyfamilyfixing yes sounds about right yea the only way I can spin it free is with the truck engine off and just the key in the on position all seems to be working fine

    Great info.. today morning my fan start running at the moment I started the engine. Turned the engine off tried to move it by hand but didn't move. Now what can do to turn it off till see the mechanic? Good bless you

    • @Starkeyfamilyfixing
      @Starkeyfamilyfixing  2 года назад

      Well that’s a safety. The fan should default to a locked on position. The reason is that if you end up in a mountain with not fan , you will overheat the engine, and a company driver would most likely just keep going til it blows . ( I don’t know what happened, it was running fine ) .

    • @Starkeyfamilyfixing

      Safely 200 to 210 is when the fan kicks on , after that your risking a blown head gasket.

    Your fan is way to close to the radiator.. Your bearings are bad I'm guessing your hub looks like it already started the process of coming apart..
