Thanks Beth my speech went down a storm thanks to you My advice remember to breathe speak slower and clearer than you would normally speak remember to pause for laughs the first minute adrenaline rush is the worst but keep saying to yourself’ I got this ‘ important to get a few laughs in right away to build confidence and get the audience onside ‘ I am the FOB ‘ and raise hands for applause Was terrified of a mic but found it actually helped, people really appreciate real life things that actually happened and not manufactured Remember people are on your side and want the same end result and really do want to hear what you have to say do all this with loads of funnies be upbeat with compassion for your daughter and it will be a triumph and most important get in the zone and lastly practice practice practice

I watched a BUNCH of videos trying to craft a good speech. This video is BY FAR the best and most concise out there. It also helps that your humor is in step with mine. I followed your advice to a "T" and the resulting speech came off great! I wasn't nervous, and I received a lot of praise for it, including a wedding venue owner who called it the best father of the bride speech he'd ever heard. Wow, high praise! Used your framework, it was so easy, the words just came and formed up around the ideas for each section. I hardly needed to change the first draft. Speech went well - everyone happy. Hi Glen. It’s not as hard as it might seem. A few tips: Don’t refer to her as your ex. It had a negative connotation, even if you don’t intend it that way. Refer to her as (name of daughter)’s mom instead. In the thank you section, make her a prominent thank you. “And of course, (name of daughter) wouldn’t be the extraordinary woman she is today without a mom like (ex wife’s name.)” If there are new partners that should be mentioned, you can mention them AFTER you’ve mentioned her mom. Generally, take the high road. Give Mom credit where credit is due, and don’t bring up bad stuff. If you and your ex have a testy relationship, your daughter will probably be a bit stressed about the how that section is going to go. Let both her and her mom be pleasantly surprised. Kill ‘em with kindness! 🤦♀️
