My ears still ring from seeing DinoJr/MyBloodyValentine at UNC in 1992; so glad he tuned the guitar after that first song.
I was at that show. Babes in Toyland was also supposed to be there, but think it was Superchunk.
Wow so glad to see J going strong. Massive influence on my youth, his music lit up the darkness. Thank you sir!
Me too, early .teenage getting burnt on punk and j lou Murph show up it's some great music
J covering Motion Sickness??? This is incredible
This is the coolest a man has ever looked.
Just missing a mullet and corn cob pipe.
J is just too cool. Dino Jr. was playing a show in my city (Toronto) the night after my prom, back in '07, and it didn't matter how obliterated/hungover I was gonna' be, I was making it to that show, fake ID and all (it was a really bad fake, but worked- door guy had a chuckle). I remember part of the opening bands act was that they made pancakes on a portable griddle they bought on stage while playing music. Anyways, there I am right at the front, watching the opener, when J comes and stands right next to me, we're shoulder to shoulder, to watch the opener and enjoy some free pancakes, haha- awesome. That Dino Jr. show is safely the loudest show I've ever been to (followed by The Mars Volta opening for RHCP in 2006)- hearing was wonky for days. Great memories, listening to J/Dino makes me so nostalgic- one of the first acts I "discovered" on my own, when coming into my own musical consciousness. Thanks for the awesome upload- KEXP 4 life!
Also, he's the guy that made me want a Jazzmaster and Zvex pedals and purple things!
You're cool
@@user-bd4ll9sl3x I know, and so does everyone else.
have seen J last week in Berlin.. perfect. One guy who tells everything with guitar. No other commends needed. Love it since years
That guitar sound like it grieving past owners. That guitar has more soul than most people.
this dude is the definition of being cool. and I am not even sad that I will never be able to be this cool. love him and his music
I've never been more excited to watch a video. J is an immense talent. And his new album is great!
永遠のヒーロー
J Mascis is great at making a song for those who can’t fit in the society. He said decades ago I guess “he dropped out of the society at 14. I feel the same, me at 10. He’s probably light Asperger’s.
It's so good to see him!
J is a f**king genuine genius...
His music made me so happy and thoughtful at the same time.
Thanx man ☮️
Oh that phoebe bridgers cover was a cool surprise
As good as ever!
J is the best 👽
I love this dude
Working with Kurt Vile is like working for J Mascus.(J owns his world)
I saw J in Ithaca, NY back in 2011 and it was awesome!
Beautiful version of Motion Sickness
This is wonderful ❤❤
Good work son.
fell in love with dinosaur jr in my teenage years bought all their albums. loved their melancholic guitar sounds and mascis' voice with a soul. saw j mascis and dinosaur jr live several times
Same here, except only seen them once :(
@@gretchentruscott4274They announced a tour with Weezer and Flaming Lips!
So cool, Dinosaur Jr has been on daily playlist rotation for most of my life. "Get Me" and "Start Choppin'" are still my faves but it is great watching him perform new stuff. Thank you, J and KEXP!
Drum kit and HArmonica right now: LET me IN, LET me IN, coach!
I caught myself clapping watching this.
Thank you! ❤
Amazing performance! J is still great!
I used to listen so much J Mascis and Dinosaur Jr back in the 2010's. I love u Jay! Glad KEXP is back
Reminds me of the guy from Dinosaur Jr.
Yes!!!
Interviewer: "What resonated with you about this song?"
J: "... I don't know!"
Classic
reminds me of something derrida said about americans expecting definitive answers
@@canadabis8 Yes, all of them.
J stands for Jangley 🎸
Is he in an open tuning? Love it! Over 3 decades of boundless creativity!
He's out of tune.......
@@spacesmugglingNope, Can't believe we're here is meant to sound like that. I like it, very jangly
@@spacesmuggling12 strings is a lot to tune

Hell yeah
cool jacket
J Mascis.. Dinosaur..❤
I said I don’t know why they haunt me. I’m getting sage.
Sonic youth best friend
It's the guitarist from Bless the Barn! You guys got robbed by Franny WIsp 🤣
Yeah, I hear my brother Cyrus Hyrum Hoseney in those notes. He changed his middle name to Hiram after Elliott died.I guess I understand you better now. 🌗💖🎸🌈⭐️🎂🚑🌽💖🌝✌️🌞💎🎖️
My brother doesn’t deserve to be harmed. I hope he is safe.
How’s J’s new album? I might pick it up for the turntable
Guitar solos are some of the best he's ever done.
@@NickHarman thanks for the info
sort of one sound the whole way through but nice vibe
13:41 is he actually getting a bit emotional here (or is he suppressing a yawn?) J's a god
Indigestion
well i never know what j wrote about on every songs
Nice job getting your Kurt Vile facts totally wrong 21:16
Oh look, it's Kurt Vile's crazy uncle.
DINOSAUR JR DESERVES ANOTHER KEXP SESSION
COPIA Y PEGA ESTA VERDAD
Ear-bleeding country. Got it? If not, get a full stack Marshall.
Love me some Dinosaur Jr but what’s with the Illuminati drip?
He's just an almost straight edge dude who loves wearing stoner attire. Nothing more.
@@terryfunkuAnd he's in a stoner metal band and 2 of of his bassists are famous stoners. It's weird
What’s up with no Illuminati drip? It’s a jab at the very thing. J puffs a bit, but doesn’t advertise or brag. Not really a thing of consequence. Pretty sure Bug & Fog stuff involved some poppy extract.
looks like silly stoner clothes to me 😂
I hate this dude. So overrated. Everyone acts like hes some kind of icon.
Awe that’s mean
Based
Yeah...kexp just went crazy inviting this "overrated" guy who inspired many bands in the 80's 90's with their original sound for the 4th time...
@@juandavidrodriguezahumada1530 Lol listen bonehead. I was playing in bands in the 80's and 90's and it was frikking awesome. Mascis was already on MTV and "influencing a lot of bands, big deal. Everyone was influencing everybody else.
@@jesuscristo1664 Oh, so you're just jealous of his success.
Who on earth wants to hear a guitar without percussion? Regression
🤚
"Boo" this man!
Fans of folk music?
