  • In Revit, applying phase filters to differentiate elements such as lights and wires can help visualize and manage your project phases more effectively. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to give phase filter colors to lights and wires in Revit:
    Step-by-Step Guide
    1. Open Your Revit Project
Start Revit and open the project where you want to apply the phase filter colors.
    2. Access the Phasing Settings
    Go to the Manage tab.
Click on Phases in the Phasing panel.
    3. Create or Modify Phases
In the Phases dialog box, you can create new phases if needed or modify existing ones. This is where you define the different project phases.
    4. Set Up Phase Filters
Switch to the Phase Filters tab in the Phases dialog box.
Create new phase filters if necessary or modify existing ones to suit your requirements.
Phase filters control the visibility and graphics of elements based on their phase status (e.g., new, existing, demolished).
    5. Assign Graphics Overrides
In the Phase Filters tab, you'll see columns for different statuses like Show New, Show Existing, Show Demolished, etc.
For each status, click in the Graphics Overrides column and select Override to open the Graphic Override dialog.
Here, you can set the color, line patterns, and other graphical settings for elements in that status.
    6. Apply Phase Filters in Views
Go to the view where you want to apply the phase filter colors.
In the Properties palette, find the Phasing section.
Set the Phase and Phase Filter according to your requirements.
    7. Apply Specific Colors to Lights and Wires
To specifically color lights and wires, you need to use view filters along with phase filters.
Go to the View tab and select Filters from the Graphics panel.
Create a new filter for lights and another for wires.
In the filter rules, specify the categories and properties that define lights and wires.
Assign graphic overrides to these filters to apply specific colors.
    8. Add Filters to Your View
In the Properties palette of the view, go to the Filters section.
Click Edit/New and add the filters you created for lights and wires.
Adjust the filter settings to display the colors you set.
    Example
For instance, if you want to color new light fixtures green and existing wires blue:
    Create Phases:
    Existing
    New Construction
    Set Phase Filters:
    New elements: Green color
    Existing elements: Blue color
    Create Filters:
Filter for light fixtures with a green override.
Filter for wires with a blue override.
    Apply in Views:
Set the view's phase to New Construction.
Apply the relevant phase filter and view filters.
By combining phase filters and view filters, you can achieve a clear and organized visual representation of different elements based on their phases and categories.
