Bryan Kohberger Wins Motion To Continue Juror Questions!

The judge in the Bryan Kohberger case is allowing the defense to continue to survey potential jurors in Latah county and other counties. I'm worried that this is too soon and that the judge will ask that the survey be done again closer to the trial date from some times in the summer of 2025. The change of venue hearing is still scheduled for June 27, 2024.

I am in Miami and heard most of those questions but am not swayed either way by them.

I think the judge is doing his best to be fair to both sides. He doesn’t want a do-over. Most likely, the venue will be changed,probably to ADA County. But I doubt that such a move will meaningfully mitigate potential juror bias, let alone eliminate it. Honesty is a fluid entity. It changes with circumstances. Since, as Machiavelli noted, people are “fickle, liars and deceivers,” some are going to lie to get on the jury, while some will lie to get out of it. Cynical? Perhaps. But the only certain thing a change of venue will do is to greatly increase the expense of the trial and further feather the nests of Anne Taylor and Co, who are “greedy for profit,” a trait that Machiavelli ascribes to people in general and which applies especially well to defense lawyers, IMO. Let’s face it. They’re hired guns even when acting as public defenders. To them, the guilt or factual innocence of their client is beside the point. Anyway, let’s get this show on the stage. It’s time to put up or shut up.
I hope Anne doesn’t try to push for a change of venue based on what potential jurors learn from these survey questions. Judge Judge can’t let her cause need for change and then grant it to her as well.
I would have denied it and granted the COV. Everyone knows this trial is getting moved, so why waste time and money going through these machinations? Put it in Ada county and move on to the next thing.
Except not everybody knows that. Changes of venue are rarely granted. Murdaugh didn’t get one, despite the publicity and public sentiment problems.

watch runkle's video on it, it only sounds ridiculous to us who have no background in the field. the expert's court hearing makes me feel like the prosecution was just counting on people's ignorance which sadly we're all apart of. Its incredibly persuasive and makes the prosecutor look like a grifter
@@kavinh10 Yes it was interesting when Runkle was going over that the prosecutor's only complaint was that it would break the no dissemination order, he didn't have a complaint about the survey as such.
The survey is dead in the water anyway. Moscow won't participate at this point.

But the law nerd app doesn't give times. And that's what I need so I can plan ahead. And I'm getting your notifications late and yes I have the app and I am a member but I can't figure out when you post so I can be there from the beginning. Very frustrating
If you are on Facebook the messages from there are more timely. They also are only when the stream is starting though, not in advance. Sometimes a future stream shows up in my recommended asking if I want to be notified. Those then have the time that the stream will start on them. Hope that helps a bit, Emily will be starting to stream a new trial soon and they will have more stable start times as she will be going off what time Court starts.
Imo, the expert stated pertinent points. There were alarming questions, but they were prefaced by some filtering questions. The defence was still wrong to question the judge's temporary stay on the survey though, and trying to insinuate the judge was biased was bad.
If the Judge had yet another hearing to only say, "Eh... let's wait on this. We'll make a decision in a few months," I think Anne Taylor would rightfully be pissed. This Judge likes his hearings, maybe a little too much imo

The public record designation bothers me so much. For such a public media heavy case you can't just say the things in the court documents is public record.

…The current set of questions (IMO) absolutely DOES taint the jury pool, and I feel they’re sabotaging their own defense case.
Disagree. They’re asking those questions because the ideas are already out in the public. In order to see how far they’ve penetrated the community, they HAVE to ask the questions.

Me too. I think the judge knows this but is giving up since defense is adamant about doing this.
@@jediping You can't assume everyone in Moscow already knows those questions or what is already out in the public.
@@Pllm30 Who said I did? That’s why they’re doing the survey, to find out if people do. It’s a small sample size and an even smaller section of that population that’s even being asked the questions.
