The longer this case goes the more I wonder how it even came to trial!? Rehome your dog, phone, house, job. Questions!

The defense using the expert witness to their benefit was masterful.
I think we have more than reached reasonable doubt. And the prosecution and their whitnesses have been very helpful in establishing this reasonable doubt.
EDB, I love watching Karen Read's joke of a trial with you.
The evidence of harassment was a horrible ruling. The door was absolutely Not open and has nothing to do with the defendant’. Karen did not harass so if the jury holds this against Karen it is completely unfair and is beyond frustrating
I just can’t stop putting myself in the families shoes. I imagine if that blood was that of one of my loved ones I would be a heretic if it was treated in such a way as was here. You are so right EDB he deserves so much better.

I’ll tell you what. I remain confused about all the times being banded about. But I will say,, to be honest, the case was over for me when I learned about the leaf blower, the solo cups, the grocery bag, and the whole kit and caboodle left open beside, what could possibly be the murder weapon. And there was a dirty rag nearby. I admittedly don’t know much about law, but to me, this was simple, reasonable doubt. I think there’s a lot of reasonable doubt. I think we are looking at an acquittal. And I have no earthly idea what really happens.
The other thing is that these people are so evasive. You can just see the lie. They’re hiding something, but I really don’t know what that something is. I don’t think everyone is in on the secret, and that should reduce the possibility of somebody slipping up. But there is a secret. I think that’s really obvious. no one wants to just tell the truth. Not only that. But these people are serious drinkers. Is how they live. And they are passing on that particular family trait do the kids.
Listen, I’m almost 81 years old, and I enjoy a really good margarita when I am out with family or friends. In fact, most of the adults in my family will have a drink when we are out together. But that’s it. Nobody drinks until they are Ready to fall on the floor. And we certainly don’t retire to somebody’s house so that we can drink some more. I think alcohol has a lot to do with whatever happened, and that is a shame. But mark my word, my friend, these people are hiding something. There is something they don’t want everyone to know.the evasiveness permeate the air.
Agree certain people in that house that night know what happened and they will do anything to protect themselves.

Thank you for the informative recaps. I am now obsessed by my history of updating my iPhones since 3 G in NOVEMBER 2009 thru 15 Pro in NOVEMBER 2023. Who updates two weeks before the release date ? Who can own several iPhones without understanding the basic functions and back up features with iTunes and iCloud ? I am 74 and used pay phones and typewriters during high school, college and grad school , yet I know more about smartphones, digital and social media than these younger witnesses who grew up with this technology. Sounds evasive and deliberate to me . Kindly let us know when you think the Karen Read murder and drunk driving trial will finally begin.
The moment I managed to change the date on my photos ( it tells you the actual date but if you don’t have the physical phone, you would not know . I know they changed things .
Still don’t understand why she let her brother drive all the way there, then declined the ride. Rude at best. Sus in light of everything else

This trial is going to take six more months at this rate.
I’m shocked that there isn’t some way the judge can’t decide that evidence isn’t admissible because they way it’s been managed or collected has left it so extremely open to tampering that it’s not up to a standard that the court can rely on to be used as actual “evidence” of anything.

The hubris of the cops and the prosecution is breathtaking! Rules don’t apply to them. I think they may find might doesn’t make right.
I hope that the defense has someone listening to your quick bits because I am in agreement that they are at risk of turning the jury against Karen if they push too hard on the things that don't really seem to matter. Fight hard on the things like solo cups and leaf blowers. Live to fight another day on the smaller things that can make you look petty.
I think this case should not have been brought based on the lack of evidence. I have never seen a trial where they are this many witnesses in to the prosecution side and they haven't had the lead investigator on the stand yet. That says a lot about the weakness of their case!
i'm binge watching these videos to get caught up, and it's legitimately crazy that as a medical assistant working at an urgent care that did DOT drug screens for truck drivers, that we had stricter regulations on sealing drug screen cups with tamper proof tape, regulation and documentation of urine temperature and collection time with additional witnesses and extremely detailed double and triple checks on the chain of custody sheets and requirements for initialing anytime the tamper proof seal is broken....
than a police department investigating a death/murder.
like, if we did a drug screen that had any discrepancies and it was brought to court, let's say, in a post accident drug screen, we are told that any discrepancies could void it's admissibility in court.
but even more pertinent, is that the urine drug screen lab would not test the specimen if it was not in their standard issue urine cups with temperature and a tamper proof seal on the cup itself, and then the baggy
how tf is blood evidence stored in solo cups, chucked in a stop and shop bag, with photographic evidence that the evidence was never sealed to prevent tampering and no effort made for preservation - allowed to be admissible in court as evidence???
and how is there no correction for that? if this was in the medical field, you could lose your license or get it suspended and face termination if you are unable to follow these protocols- why is every officer that "processed" that evidence not terminated?

A lot of people in the chat yesterday commented that the veterinary DNA person hadn’t been “tendered as a witness”. What does that mean? Didn’t her credentials prove that she was an expert witness? That’s why they go through them while the witness is on the stand, yes?
Please explain to me why on Earth do these people assume someone with short hair is a man and someone with long hair was a woman. It was dark; no one’s seeing much of anyone in a car at night lit with only dome lights. They do know anyone can have any length of hair…people get haircuts. They grow it out. That’s no proof that Karen Read & John OKeefe were in that car in the Albert’s driveway.
We’re how many weeks into the trial, into the prosecution’s case in chief, and I still have no idea what their case is. Do better, Lally and co.
Maybe they didn't tender her as an expert because that opens up the ability for the Defence to do a different type of questioning. I think they just 'left her as a witness' (not disparaging her obvious expertise) to avoid the Defence getting into questions as to whether solo cups are acceptable, etc.
Usually after the witness's credentials are given they offer to tender as an expert in a field or fields. For some reason Lally never did🤷♂️
Usually experts are tendered. The only one I remember with Emily that was limited was Spiegel. They tendered him in part but not in whole.
They could have stipulated previously that particular witness would be an expert. I dunno. I am popping here without a ton of this particular context, but that could be one possibility.
As I understand it, the scope they can question her on is bigger, when she is introduced as an expert. As "just a witness" she can speak mostly on the very specific case, less general.

why no one followed up on the "colin wasnt there when john was there" like... isnt that important part? jury shouldnt have to guess what she mean, it should be explained. like wtf???

Why didn't the Defense Lawyer ask any follow up questions to Ali when she stated that Colin wasn't there when John was there? i.e. Questions like: Do you know what time John was there? or Who told you what time John was there?
Not a lawyer at all, but I think it was intentional to let it just hang. She would’ve said she misspoke etc. if he questioned her further.

It is not even about Collin Albert being in that house, I want to know why everyone is lying to cover for the time he left . They would rather have reasonable doubt that their teenage son committed m*rder than actually admit where he was or went in that time? What could be worse than what he’s being accused of especially when they could just have show the texts back then?
The dates on the texts were modified and then they took a picture to justify the timeline

The thing about Colin is that he was there at the house. If he left the house before John got there they could have investigated it at the time and rule him out. The fact that they never mention he was there that night made him look more guilty than he was. If he had nothing to do with the situation I feel bad about the harassment. But this on their family.

2:13 - it strikes me odd that they would find "pig" DNA ... of all animal options. Do you think there is a chance someone messed with the swabs on purpose to put pig DNA on the swab as "pig" is often a derogatory term for police officers and they thought this would be a hilarious sick joke? We don't know what/where the swab came from since they never sent the shirt to the lab. 🤔

Ive been trying really hard to see all these gotcha moments pro karen readers see.
But they fly in the wind compared to the incriminating things holding up against her.
Top of the food chain it can not be dismissed. she unprovoked told 3 different people including a cop that she hit him. start stop.
I would love to believe that Karen’s innocent but sadly she’s lying the deceased was planning on leaving her
Might be nice to see some evidence of that. Instead, we see the Canton power family & friends being evasive.
Absolutely no evidence whatsoever of that gossip in this trial. None at all. We are LawNerds and respect the evidence as it is introduced. Take that theory to a different stream .
