    Whether KR is innocent or not, the reasonable doubt in this case from the shoddy investigation alone, let alone the credibility of these witnesses, is looking insurmountable by the prosecution imo.

      If she did hit him, which I don’t think is true, it was not intentional, and she has lost her companion. Prison is particularly cruel for a person with multiple sclerosis.

      Exactly! And it makes me wonder if John O’Keefe will ever get justice! His family, being in the courtroom, has to be at least questioning what happened to John

    • @selinesbeau

      @@childoftheking2113 Unless the federal investigation digs up something amazing or gets someone who was in the house that night to break, sadly I don't think the actual perpetrator/s will be prosecuted. I think we'll "know" who was involved, but with so much evidence destroyed/contaminated and the entire Albert clan going "that's my story and I'm sticking to it", we'll never have real proof.

    • @infinitecurlie
      @infinitecurlie 18 дней назад +2

      Yep. If I was on the jury, I wouldn't be convinced. And if she did hit him, I'd be leaning towards that it was an accident and that this is a huge coverup and they're trying to use KR as a scapegoat.

    As an avid mountain hiker, I have almost fallen on my face more times than I care to admit. I’ve always ended up with my palms and/or wrists scraped and/or bruised, never my knuckles.

    • @wendywilkinson
      @wendywilkinson 18 дней назад +1

      It’s a reflex to fall face first with your arms extended, hands palm down - called the parachute reflex. I’ve done it myself several times, common cause of fractured wrists, particularly Colles fractures.
      Falling knuckles first can happen, but rare as heck and I suggest he should go get his reflexes assessed.

    Pretty messed up that so many of the witnesses have shown little to no concern that a man died in the snow in front of a house they were all in. It took one of them thinking of how she was getting unkind messages for some emotion to be expressed...

  • @sqrlmonger
    @sqrlmonger 22 дня назад +25

    If there's a blizzard and I'm expecting someone to have arrived already I would be calling them on the phone to touch base. This doesn't make sense to me for how the Alberts are behaving.
    Karen Read's version seems to be that she dropped him at the party and he was going to get his own ride (?). If that's the case her leaving him outside of a house with at least a half-dozen people inside who are expecting him makes perfect sense why she didn't bother calling him.

    • @bdw7254
      @bdw7254 22 дня назад +9

      It makes her surprise that he wasn’t home when she woke up clear too. Jen on day 14 says she was screaming hysterically about if he was at another woman’s house or hurt or something. They take a lot of stock in her “knowing where he was and seeing him when no one else saw him” as she knew where he was. Karen seems to be the only one experiencing the correct emotions. Everyone is telling her to shut up and calm down because they think he’s just at someone’s house. They never took anything seriously at any point.

    I think many of the questions you have are good ones but the fact that this was a night of large amounts of alcohol being consumed needs to be factored in somehow. You can't expect the same rational, logical thought people have when not drunk. This was an after hours bars are closed party. These were all people involved, mostly, with law enforcement, fire, etc., and those groups know how to party hard. I honestly believe what happened was a tragic accident and the present situation is a person who is incapable of taking responsibility for their actions. The internet joins in the ruckus, a way out is seen. What motivation is there for beating this man to death?

    • @freedomring757
      @freedomring757 22 дня назад

      What do you mean by “taking responsibility for actions”? For Karen to plead guilty to 2nd degree murder and spend the rest of her life in prison, even though she has no recollection of having hit John, and it’s theoretically possible (though unlikely), that she didn’t hit him? Also if she did hit him, how is it criminal? No evidence that Karen was impaired to the extent that she could not safely operate a motor vehicle. For example, she didn’t run through a red light. The evidence suggests she didn’t know John was behind the car when/if she hit him and couldn’t see him at night in the blizzard in a strange location, with multiple other cars around and objects that could’ve blocked her view of John backtracking to the vehicle from the house. He didn’t go inside for some reason. My theory is that John may have dropped his cell phone or his glass and stooped down to pick them up, out of sight of Karen, in a blind spot. After all, he was walking in the ice and snow carrying two objects, in unfamiliar territory. This could explain how he was hit on the back of his head by the tail light. The state’s evidence certainly doesn’t exclude this possibility. Which means the state has not proved beyond a reasonable doubt that Karen committed any crime. So, IMO, she should be acquitted. And has no obligation to “take responsibility” for something that she doesn’t know she did and might not have done.

    • @barbaramiller2279
      @barbaramiller2279 22 дня назад

      @@freedomring757 I don't believe it was criminal. I believe it was an accident. I believe if she would have just said It was an accident, no charges would have ensued. Just my opinion. • @freedomring757
      @freedomring757 22 дня назад

      @@barbaramiller2279 that’s exactly what she did in the beginning. She acknowledged responsibility. “I hit him!” As a result, she got charged with second degree murder. Charges that caused all of the other issues to arise. So, I respectfully submit that your initial premise is flawed.

    • @barbaramiller2279
      @barbaramiller2279 22 дня назад

      @@freedomring757 Karen herself has said she didn't say I hit him. She said "did I hit him?" And she wasn't charged with murder right away. She was charged with manslaughter, motor vehicle homicide and leaving the scene of a deadly crash. Which is appropriate. Her lawyer said that was overcharged. A grand jury was sat and they charged her with 2nd degree. That took away her ability to deal. My initial premise is entirely feasible, respectfully submitted. Now we're stuck with this mess where everyone has their back up and insisting their truth is THE truth. Throw in a little Boston like attitude and here we are. As I said. This is just my opinion. I feel it is based on logical reasoning and based on the history of the case. Again, take it or leave it.
