You are welcome.
Please help I’ve connected both monitors with a hdmi splitter into my graphics card and I don’t have the option of 1 and 2 monitors
I really need this too work
Hi there, if you have 1 card with a splitter all you are doing is splitting the same signal to the 2 monitors. To solve this, you will need to connect the second monitor to another graphic card via HDMI, DVI or VGA or USB adapter - Thanks
Thank you so much I’m getting one for my friends birthday as it’s his dream to be a streamer I watched everything I could and it didn’t work and you’re the only one that helped. I’ve ordered a dvi cable for him to set it up. Thank you loads again and keep up the grind man 👍
so i bought a HDMI Adapter and when i plug both monitors into the HDMI cords and into the adapter it shows my screen on both monitors but doesnt show me the option of 1 and 2 for my monitors
Hi PolurColt, in this case you are using the same signal channel, that is why you see the same image in both monitors. You will need 2 video cards or video adapters(HDMI, DVI, VGA or USA) and connect each monitor to separate adapters.
Hope this helped.
hi, i have a problem i am hoping you can help me with when you right click and go into the display stuff it doesnt show the drag moniter thing
and i am having troubles doing the dual moniter
If you do not see more than 1 monitor it means the video connections are not being done properly.
mine keeps saying we didn’t find another display even tho they both on n it won’t let me detect
Make sure you are connecting the displays to two different video adapters; otherwise, if you are splitting the signals, you will only see 1 monitor. Thanks
@@apteck how do i do that?
I have a problem, the display keeps changing and cuts off 1 or 2 inches on the sides
Hi Miguel, make sure you are selecting the correct resolution under "scale and layout"
Thanks
Hi,
I got a traading setup of 4 monitors and one laptop (HP Victus 16 inch).
I want to have 4 different displays on my monitors. Should I buy an HDMI matrix or any other device. Please help!
I'm stuck on this for weeks.
I bought ah HDMI splitter, but I get 4 duplicate displays upon my 4 monitors. (My laptop's display is different as I switch to extend option using win + P option).
I got one input which is my laptop, and I want 4 more different displays upon my 4 monitors.
Appreciate the help!
You can use HDMI Matrix, but make sure the model you buy supports 4 monitors.
Anyone knows why I can't extend my display. so i have two monitors connected running, with the same display. I have the extended option active. but seems doesnt work. Im using HDMI to DP on my 2nd monitor. and a HDMI cable on my main monitor. Could it be conflict of having 2 hdmi?
You must use two different video adapters connected to two different video cards on your PC for this to work. The other option is to get a this docking stations (plug and play) make sure your PC or laptop supports USB-C. www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B08XJWMNZ8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
what if you wanted 3 monitors
You you need a docking station. Also, make sure your OS version allows 3 monitors before you purchase a docking station. Thanks for visiting.
. I cant see any icons on 2nd display. If i set to duplicate display i can get it working but then not able to use hdr on my samsung s95b, then select extend display and get hdr but lose all icons on screen, it just stays static and only able to see my mouse move. Nothing else, no matter what i open or do. Really bugging m,e.
If you refer to the screen icones, when you extend the displays you can only see them on the "main display". If you want the icons on the other display you will need to set that display as the main one, or move them manually.
when i go into display settings, there isn't anywhere where there shows monitor 1 or monitor 2. it just shows settings and I have browsed all of them and I cannot find how to get to the multiple displays settings.
That means that your PC is not recognizing the monitors. How are your monitors connected to your PC?
@@apteck i’m using a splitter which connects up to my main hdmi port in my pc, i do not have them options and i’ve searched everywhere
@@apteck I figured out that I was plugging in the hdmi into the motherboard so I plugged it in the wrong hdmi plugin
@@sorbet29 I did that as well since they’re going into the same port the pc only recognizes as one!
@sorbet - The function of the splitter is to split the same signal to both monitors. To have different signals in the two monitors you will need to have two different video cards (a USB adapter to HDMI, VGA, DVI depending on your monitor video input) will help you with this. Thanks
Hey! I was connecting my PC to my laptop Via HDMI and VGA but when i plugged both of them and i put detect other displays and it didn't show pls help!
Hi, how many monitors do you have?
@@apteck nvm it doesnt matter i contacted my computers company they said the hdmi wont connect to laptops only monitors
I have a Lenovo workstation with multiple display ports, I connect both monitors to 2 of them but one shows the main desktop and when open display it opens in the other monitor but can't use the mouse in that one.
Hi there, my understanding is that you will need to use 1 display port for one monitor and another video port such as (VGA, HDMI or DVI) for the other monitor. Try that and let us know. Thanks
i have 2 monitors but it is 3 monitors for me how can i remove the third?
Not sure what you issue is, but if you only have 2 monitors and are seeing 3 try to close the laptop lid and see what happens. Thanks
Im able to split the screen however for some reason my screen on my monitor is just black and i can only see the task bar, any fixes?
Is the screen black even after you logon? Kindly advise. Thanks
Very good quick starting point just what i needed thank you!
Thanks for your feedback.
I’m using a display port (usb to hdmi) to connect one monitor and then just a hdmi to connect the other but only one connects! I’ve tried a hdmi splitter, a bunch of other leads but nothing it working! my pc just won’t recognise the other monitor :(
Hi Ella, this has happened to me before and the reason has been the driver of the HDMI adapter. Although some vendors say the adapter is plug and play, this has not always been the case for me. Check under device manager and see if you see a question mark or yellow triangle next to the video adapters. If that is the case, then it's a driver issue.
@@apteck I’ve just checked and there’s a yellow triangle by my other devices. Could this be the problem?
I have an issue if you or anyone knows the answer. Whenever I log onto my computer, whether from boot up or from sleep, 1 of my monitors is always disabled and the only way to get it to turn on is to duplicate the display and THEN set it to extend. This is EVERY SINGLE TIME I LOG ON! Anyone knows why this is or how to fix it?
BTW, This issue only started happening after I upgraded to windows 11.
Hi @firstdondego, can you advise if your monitors are connected to a desktop or a laptop via a docking station?
@@apteck It's through a desktop via graphics card.
when it to open up google on the tv it just opens it on my laptop any ideas
You will need to drag the window from the laptop onto the external monitor. The next time, it will open where you dropped it. Thanks
@@apteck thank you
I am using triple monitor. at times i choose to disconnect display of one of my monitor. And after I choose to 'extend display' to that monitor again but its number now change. all three monitor number are change and i have to set numbering all of them all over again. so confusing
Hi Omsui, are you using a docking station or you are connecting the monitors directly to the video cards on your PC?
@@apteck i am using 2 separated video cards on my pc. is there any simple app that can turn on and off monitor connection(s) ?
I have a Microsoft Surface laptop and an external monitor that I connected via USB. My default display shows "Duplicate these displays". When I change the setting to "Extend these displays", my second monitor only shows my background setting and nothing else. Is there a setting I need to change in order that I can adjust the two monitor displays independent of each other?
I should add that for "Detect other display" it says "We did not find another display"
Hi Captain Ron, check this video which is made just for Surface: ruclips.net/video/GctxvCr7CZE/видео.html&ab_channel=oztabletpc
So, I have 2 laptops and 1 home cord (each end of the HDMI cord is plugged into a laptop) but I am not seeing 1 or 2 for display. Neither is it picking up another pc.
This video shows how to connect two displays to 1 PC. You will need 2 cables (HDMI and VGA) one end connected to one of the laptops and the other two ends to each of the monitors. Thanks
Thank you so much.
quick and to the point, thank you
i just plugged in a second monitor and when i turn it on my mouse is on it but i cant change my settings because it pops up on my first monitor help pls
You will need to select "extend the monitor" to see the image in both monitors. Thanks
@@apteck thank you!!!
i have 2 monitors, on my main monitor i use a dp cabel and on my 2nd monitor i use my hdmi cabel, It seems like its only my hdmi cabel that is working, cause my main monitor wont show anything with the dp cabel but if i put my hdmi cabel into my main montior it works. idk why my dp cabel wont work and i only have 1 hdmi port in my pc btw, so i cant just use hdmi for both
Do you have 2 video cards on your laptop/workstation?
@@apteck nvm i already fixed it, but thx for answer
@@blickyyy4408 how’d you fix it? Having the same issue
@@jasonmcelroy6162 i just did windowsbutton + p and then something popped up in the bottom left corner i clicked on the 2nd option and it worked, idk how exactly.
Thank you I was struggling but I found you I will be following right now
Thank you
this dosnt realy help when both monitors are copying the same screen
You need to extend your monitors. Also you need to make sure your monitors are using different video cards otherwise the screen will be the same in both. Thanks
@@apteck yeah the tech guy I hired made me buy the wrong cord, it was a splitter that was causing the problem but thanks for the advise
I have 2 monitors but i can chosse 1 2 3?
Not sure what you issue is, but if you only have 2 monitors and are seeing 3 try to close the laptop lid and see what happens. Thanks
it doesnt show me the 2 monitor options
How are you connecting the two monitors to the PC/laptop?
How do you safely disconnect the monitor without just pulling out the dongle
Not sure what you mean, but to turn off the monitor will be one of the options I guess.
What do you do if you have both monitors working but it only identified one?
This normally happens when one of the video card/connection is not working.
@@apteckdo you know how to fix it
I have a new set-up: Dell Inspiron laptop, Dell Dock D3100, 2 curved Dell monitors. The two monitors are not recognized.
1. Should I download the dock drivers for Windows 11?
2. The two monitors are connected to the dock via HDMI cables. Do I need to use display port cables? There is only one display port on the dock.
Thanks for the help!
Hi there, yes, we recommend visiting Dell Support (Drivers and Downloads) and have the Dell site identify your products and download the drivers that may be missing for them. The two HDMI ports should work fine with the two monitors. Hope this helps. Thanks
Do I need a docking station this?
Not necessarily. You can connect each monitor to a video card or adapter (HDMI, VDI, Display Port, USB or VGA) - Thanks

I have a proablem where both monitors have the same display and I don’t have an opinion to change it to extend
Hi, do you have a docking station? If yes, make sure you "extend" the monitors and NOT "duplicate" them. Please note that to extend the two monitor you will need to have docking station. Thanks
I have a PC not a laptop, but I can not extend the display, and the resolution and scale are the same, but still I can not extend these 2 monitor become one display, do you know how to fix this?
