@@citylimits8927 This is just the choir organ or Orgue De Cheour as it's referred to in Europe. A Grand and Mighty pipe organ aka Grande Orgue with 8,000 plus pipes is the planned long term goal for when the space is more completed. :)
This will almost certainly be the Choir Organ or the Choir division of a much larger organ. For an instrument that size it seems to pack quite a punch - I like it! 😊
Obviously the organ to be heard here cannot possibly or even remotely be the final solution for the "Cathedral of Cathedrals" (it barely suffices as a choir organ) ... That being said, we should all be aware that Antoní Gaudi´s overwhelming masterpiece is a work in (eternal) progress, as he has indicated himself on numerous occasions, just like the gothic cathedral masterpieces from the Middle Ages that inspired him to embark on this ultimate and heaven-storming undertaking of his, considered impossible by most of his contemporaries ... Yet, thanks to the technical achievements of the present day, we now all may dream of witnessing the completion of his masterpiece and some of those who read this will see it, with their own eyes in real life !!! Similarly, the main organ that is one day going to visually and acoustically adorn this heavenly Dome will set a challenge of sorts to even the best organ builders of our time: Grenzing (who has the benefit of being just around the corner), Klais or Rieger? Whoever it will be, the result will be heaven-storming just like the building housing it ... The only remaining question is: where in the cathedral will it be placed? Maybe the pipes will be all over the place, enveloping the audience like an acoustic blanket in infinite-D ...
It's a shame that so grand a church does not have an equally grand organ. This small 2-manual organ does not begin to fill this large space with enough sound. Perhaps a wealthy donor will commission a large 3 or 4-manual organ that will adequately fill this grand space with heavenly organ music. One can always hope anyway.
When I was there in 2022 I was told but the guide that there is a plan for a massive organ in the cathedral and that this one is merely a temporary situation.
The placement and visual design certainly don't seem to respect Gaudi's work. I've never seen if Gaudi planned for an organ or not. The sound of this little instrument is bigger and better than expected, though, the tuning there at the end was a little eye watering.
Badly out of tune. A pity: no organ sounds good under such conditions. I am surprized to see that the size of the organ is found problematic. For reference, in Lille cathedral (FR), the choir organ, a small 2-manual Cavaillé (and not of the best) does a better job than the recently transferred 100+ stop grand organ. Of course it is not that loud, especially in a distance. So what. If you want loudness, go to the next disco. Not every organ needs to be overwhelming. And if you want loud, adding stops is not the best strategy, scaling, harmonics, and pressure are more relevant.
Disappointing. Oh, the great Spanish organ traditions! Just consider the organs of Tarragon, Toledo, Seville, León, not to mention the South like in Malaga and Zaragoza! And this is the second-rate insufficient instrument they installed in Gaudí 's masterpiece of a Cathedral? This is truly disappointing..... Maybe they ran out of money, and this is all they could buy? Surely.....
Um, no. For Messiaen's Meditations on the Mystery of the Holy Trinity, Durufle Op. 11, or Yves Castagnet Missa Salve Regina a dry concert hall is preposterous.
Thats a bit strong on criticising an organ and a church isnt it ??? And apparently you didnt like it well then delete the video and dont go spain to see this so called monstrosity but let others enjoy it because they DO like it and even love it 😍 jerk !!!! For entertainment purposes only offcourse 🥰
Miraculous arrangement and a stunning performance
Sensacional, moderno, asombroso órgano ❤
Such a beautiful place and then an organ like this. What a missed opportunity
There's a planned organ with 8,000 pipes that is going into the gallery. I'm not sure, but I believe that Blancafort was commissioned to build it.

Un tres bel instrument! Merci superbe🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💐🦋🐦

A beautiful and great recording! I like it very much! Thanks for uploading!
Someday, I want to hear this in person. What a building!
I hope that this is just a chancel organ and that there are plans to build a grand gallery organ at a later date when funds ali
Sounds like a fiery Danion Gonzalez build.

they are in the process of expanding the organ to a 4 manual I've read. With over 8,000 pipes.
Let's hope that it is very successful ! ! !@@terjetuttle6086
I was expecting something like a Fratelli Ruffatti organ. Go figure.
Must be an interim organ. Surely?
When I was there in 2022 I was told but the guide that there is a plan for a massive organ in the cathedral and that this one is merely a temporary situation.
A much larger instrument is planned for the basilica. This small instrument is temporary.
That organ is an Insult to this Beautifull building. Is it someone's idea of a joke?

Bravo!
Is that a digital organ? And what kind of Pipes are those. Are they only for decoration and non-functional?.
All pipes are funtional
@@Nicky_SPAIN Thanks!
Tack-a-rama!
Can someone tell me what is the piece of music is being played? Thanks.
It's an organ arrangement of the final movement (Chaconne) from Bach's Violin Partita No. 2 BWV 1004.
❤❤❤

You mean Sanctuary, not Altar.

Schlechte Tonqualität! Schade.

The best venue to listen an organ is a philharmonic hall with great acoustic. Not churches with irritating reverberation.

Diseño moderno.... y feo.
No es feo, es peculiar y curioso.
La console est laide.
Wouldn’t be out of place in an early Star Trek movie!

why such a small organ for such a big cathedral?
