    Awesome diy DLG boom Antonis! Your constructions are siplier and better. I like your new wing mounting system. Thank you for sharing!

    Hi Antonis, great stuff, 1 question - Are you leaving the first bit of glass, the area that rolls onto the boom first, dry? I'm assuming it wets from the resin in the rest of the layup?

    • @afilos
      @afilos  11 месяцев назад

      Yes, it wets from the rest as you noticed!

    • @afilos
      @afilos  11 месяцев назад

      Wet the layer as you place them down one by one and not all at once as shown in the video.

    Why did you step away from using the VCR tape?

    • @afilos
      @afilos  8 месяцев назад +1

      VCR will sometimes or most likely tear when unwinding and then it is a pain to take it all off. PP film will always unwind effortlessly. PP film, on the other hand, leaves a noticeable mark on the surface which I don't mind.

    If you put a lubricated screw into the nut, you don't have to be so careful with adding the silica/epoxy mix when glueing the nut.

    • @afilos
      @afilos  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yes I am aware of that but sometimes you do things your own way for some or no reason 😁

    If you had a 3D printer, I would use it to make alignment jigs to make the holes in the boom. I don’t know how to send you pictures!

    You are making it so easy... I will have to try that !
    Do you think it is possible to make a tube 1.1 meter long with less than a centimeter in diameter, 0,6 cm per exemple ?
    ( I am asking, to make a RG65 sail boat mast, which is max 1.1 m long and we like to have 0,6 cm diameter. And if I could have something with a LE profil it would be better, but that is another story )
    You make nice planes, keep on doing !!!

      Thanks, yes why not but try to make it with a taper because its easier to de-mold.
