Solid list. My favorite MV is Ender Lilies. I’d highly suggest Astalon: Tears of the Earth. Everyone who reads this comment should check this game out.
Astalon definitely deserves a look from everyone, I really don't like retro graphics & so I always passed over it, but I was convinced to play it & it was one of the best MVs I've played.
I started Ender Lilies. Really good so far. Currently playing Ender Lilies, Hollow Knight, and SteamworldDig 2. The latter keeps getting me to come back the most right now.

Haiku the Robot is a good one that you missed. Islets as well. And Yoku's Island Express, which somehow manages to turn a pinball game into a full blown Metroidvania (no, really). So many great Metroidvanias on the Switch!
Great list! I love them all (except disney cause I haven't played it). I am, however, one of those who feel that dead cells (albeit a great game) should not be on this list. Could easily have replaced it with Ghost song, Chasm, Lost Ruins, Iconoclast, Timespinner, Alwa's Legacy, Narita Boy, Salt and Sanctuary, Dandara or Tunic just to name a few. My favourite is probably Bloodstained: Ritual of the night despite it's flaws with the framerate. I waited half a year to play it after it was released so I didn't experience the worst of it.
I gotta shout out CHASM. It's nothing ground breaking but I love the visual art style and just had so much fun playing it. So much so that not only is it one of the rare switch games that I actually finished, but I've now played through it twice.
Some games on this list are kind of light with the metroidvania element. Great games nonetheless but for that reason(and because some games I don't like that much) I'd switch out a bunch of them with: Astalon, Yoku's Island Express, Vision Soft Reset, Islets, Steamworld Dig 2, Cathedral, Gato Roboto, Metroid Prime, Moonscars and HAAK
My favourite Metroidvania's "Hollow Knight" too. It's even my favourite single player game on the Switch. Then I also like to recommend "Haiku, the Robot", a little gem this game.
Agree w most titles on the list. Vigil the Longest Night is awesome and a personal favorite. Moonscars, Ghost Song, Afterimage, Salt and Sanctuary, and Salt and Sacrifice are all really good and deserving of spots on a longer list
For me, it’s hollow night and Metroid dread although I haven’t played Prince of Persia yet, but I bought the game. As soon as I beat both of those games, I immediately started a new game. It was that much fun.
I’m on a massive Metroidvania kick. I’ve played probably half of these. But I would add Islets. Super slept on but great visually, Ori-like movement, and a lofi soundtrack. Short but very fun.
My favorites would be Hollow Knight and Axiom Verge, and I dare to say, IF HK didn´t had the amazing art and the incredible music, probable #1 would be Axiom Verge, it´s simply a masterpiece of design and not extremely long, metroidvanias need a particular size/length to be replayable. The sequel of Axiom is also one of my favorite metroidvanias.
You definitely missed Iconoclasts 😱 A very good selection of games, but Iconoclasts should be played by any fan of the genre, imo. The story is interesting, the characters are really well written, tight controls, great music, awesome visuals, the list goes on and on. Don't let the visual style fool you, the story addresses some pretty dark topics, and people will die! However, it's told in such a charming way that I couldn't help but laugh a lot and enjoy every minute with it. Hell, just by writing about it I immediately want to play it again 😅 Play Iconoclasts!
Very good choices! The only game I disagree with is Bloodstained. The first game (and probably the second one as well) sold the most on switch - around 60% total sales, so you would think they put some effort into making the switch version. Wrong. We got an unoptimised laggy crap instead..yay.
Worth adding a caveat unfortunately. Switch performance is pretty bad. I'd kind of recommend playing on a different platform at the mo'. This Devs seem to really care about their game though so it'll probably get better.
Blasphemous is my favorite. I would really like to say souldiers should be here but as great as it is the glitches and the fact it kept erasing my save file means I just can’t recommend it.
@@SwitchWatch hollow knight was great, but was very close to being frustrating which can is a hard balance to maintain. Too easy is bad but too hard is just frustrating and frustrating isn’t fun.
@@racingtegnsilver8909 I was playing it on ps5 just fine till about 20 hours and it glitched and it corrupted and erased my save file. I had an old one on ps4 and I imported it and it did it again in less than an hour. I gave up after that. I really liked the game but 20 hours wasted was enough for me.
Great tier list....F.I.S.T. would be mi favourite...I´m getting old and don´t need/want the frustration that comes with the super high difficulty of some of these games anymore
My favorite from this list is bloodstained, I have bought so many games from this list but I haven’t had the time to play it. A missing game from this list was mummy demastered made by way forward, for some reason has the graphics of contra 4, because they made also made that game, but feels like a castlevania game, but with a soldier instead of alucard.
I find it funny, and sad, that there are so many Metroidvania games on the Switch but the game that started it, Symphony of the Night, hasn't been ported to the Switch still.

The lack of Yoku's island feels weird. Kunai and gato roboto are fun but not essential. The ones you will be told are good but should avoid are greak and narita boy. I've got 3000th duel on the backlog but can't comment on it yet.
Great game which I have added quite a few times to other lists before. What I wanted tondo was really narrow it down a bit more and unfortunately it was hard to cut games like Yoku's Island because truth be told there is around 50 games you could make cases for. Both the Ori games are by far the best Metroidvania's I've ever played. Nothing even comes close. Which is a shame. I keep playing new Metroidvania games, and none of them can hold a candle to the Ori games. There's a few Metroidvania's on this list that I have NOT played, but intend to try. At least the ones on PC. I don't own a Switch, nor intend on ever buying one. Nintendo games are too expensive.

One of the biggest debates in video games, is Metroid a Metroid Vania? Back to the topic at hand, Ori 1 and 2 and Hollow Knight are great but the difficulty is a turn off. Right now, I'm enjoying Infernax and Astalon and a little bit of The Messenger.
Wait, no shantae and the pirates curse. One of the best metroidvanias ever made. No metroid prime remastered, no iconaclasts, mummy demastered, NO STEAMWORLD DIG 2! Good list, though!

What is a metroidvania? Anything you want it to be lol. Just take a second to think, does this share enough similarities to metroid AND sotn, If the answer is no, it's not a metroidvania. sotn added the equipment and leveling to metroids backtracking and progression. That is a metroidvania. Can we stop jamming in every 2d platformer with a map into being a metroidvania. That said, good list. Every game on the list is solid, even if I dont personally like some. Axiom verge in particular was the closest metroid game that wasnt a metroid game I've ever played. Very good.

The messenger is my favorite om this list. It really grew on me the longer i played. Hollow knight is a solid second place with a very small margin.

Played all most all of metroidvanias on this list. Looking forward on trying the rest. Especially the Prince of Persia and the Disney one.
Aeterna noctis easily the most challenging and unforgiving game I’ve ever played and makes all the dark souls fans games look simple comparatively
