I watched this show everyday it came on. The day she left the show broke my heart. I love watching the re runs. It takes me back to my younger years. RIP Mrs Peel.
My heart was broken too.
Most of them are died....unfortunately
Amen ! Amen !
Yes! My Heart Broke Also! Kept Hoping She'd Return As A Guest Spot!💔
Yes, this show was before my time, but it’s clear that these two had the best chemistry together.
The colours, the lighting, the sound quality, the clothes, the locations - everything was done so immaculately.
I love this scene. I love all of them, but this one is my favourite. I can imagine myself as a child trudging through those winter country lanes.
That country lane is half hour walk away for me. Also that is where the intro for Tara King Avengers is, where she runs along the bridge.
So many memories for so many people. I'm so glad we can watch it on RUclips.
A camera on a bicycle in the 1960s 50 years later we have all have them
Rest in Peace Diana Rigg
I've never lived in the 60s/70s, but since I watched this show I've got the impression life was simpler back then
In some ways. In other ways more complicated. Some things have changed for the worse since then, some things for the better (and some people disagree about whether some changes are worse or better).
But trust me, life has never been truly simple.
@@shermanlee4037 But so many things just looked prettier. The cars, women, nature and t.v. series.
It absolutely BLEEEEEEEEEW when Mrs. Peel left the show.
Five tenths of a mile. Always makes me laugh that does.
@1:10 even from a distance-so lovely......
And then there is her smile........
damn it!
Good cast and i like her outfit
Goodbye , Emma Peel.
Goodbye, Olenna Tyrell.
REST IN POWER, DAME DIANA RIGG.
BILL MURRAY Mr. Steed and Mrs. Peel are together once again.
Can we officially let the obnoxious "REST IN POWER" rest in peace now?
shepardbook I always wonder
They must be in between cases at the moment since Mrs. Peel has plans to meet a friend. Steed sure isn't giving her a lot of time to get back and get ready to go out for dinner.
It's a great inversion of the standard format of him telling her she's needed, I love it!
I miss these guys. Such a fantastic pair. ❤
…And she drove the coolest cars.
0.46 - 5/10ths of a mile 😀. One half!! One of the many gorgeous entrendres in this show.
She just rocks the Planet.
End of story.
great car!
Mrs.Peel...You're Needed!...R.I.P.
DIANA RIGG ~ ( Emma Peel) so beautiful and THE AVENGERS was one of the BEST SHOWS EVER ⭐️Patrick McNee ( steed ) was also so great ⭐️
I remember also. The charm of the older series. Note how the Lotus, as well as its two passengers go through mud, yet remain picture perfect all the time. Especially she, perfect hairdo everything she steps out of that convertible. Lovely.
In an interview, she said the cars were difficult. Didn't always work will and were often a challenge to shift.
This is what I thought life was going to be like when I grew up.....
you can imagine my disappointment.
@@tedolphbundler724 That was my aspiration also. Cool car, cool clothes, and John Steed. I feel your pain.
I adore this series. It was on when I was in high school and I never missed an episode. I have since bought the boxed set of the Emma Peel years and binge watch now and again. When I bought my first Mazda Miata, I was channeling Emma and her Lotus. And, I feel pretty cool. Just sayin’.
@@coolaunt516 More than " cool " clothes for " Emma " ; they were highly sexualized, freedom functional for a female to act like a man while fighting.. Mostly form fitted , either synthetic stretch jumpsuits or earlier erotic skin tight leather ( lambskin most likely ) shiny jumpsuits.
This was one of the episodes I watched last night. Although quite serious a situation each time, Mrs. Peel almost seemed to take pleasure in kicking Kirby’s butt and make a home of him in every “scene” played out. 🤗
I think I see the problem here - they drove only four eighths of a mile instead of five tenths.
Peter wyngarde was really gorgeous looking but he a very professional actor as well ones professionals he was not afraid to become ugly when he had to.work
I just adore this series ❤ so good
Quelle classe !!!
I would wait until 7, 8, or 9 to pick up Mrs. Peel for dinner. Lovely !!
Mrs. Peel was the epitome of the females of 60s pure sexy elegance stylist without her looks fashion character don't think there would've been any class
As , like me , Daz you are a great fan of the beautiful, sexy Mrs Peel I will forgive you on this occasion but when you are using a person as an example you say " the personification" or "the embodiment". "Epitome" is used as an example of an object or something like a building would be the epitome of the Tudor era, for example. As you were , my friend...
I guess this time she was needed... by heaven. She will be missed. I just hope she's kicking villainous art-dealer and master spies' butts up there. :)
Catching all those "diabolical masterminds" no doubt lol.
best lotus ever
Late missis rigg wore beautiful clothes there and lotus is gorgeous too
Emma Peel vs Daphne Blake: 2 redheads in purple, one being a British secret agent, and the other being a 'meddling kid'
I liked how Steed was always breaking into Emma's apartment lol. Can we bring back the 60s?
Rip Peter wyngarde. reached the age of 90.
Indeed....he was of course the 'baddie' on the bicycle.....brilliant actor. He went on to be part of Department S in 1971 and then had his own series 'Jason King'.
Was Alan Bates' lover for a decade, no wonder he lived long & prospered!
@@unowen-nh9ov they weren’t lovers, don’t believe everything mentioned about Peter in Wikipedia..
She was so Very Beautiful
2:15-So very beautiful !
The great Peter Wyngarde!
Alan Bates' lover for a decade, long before he became Jason King.
U.n owen his privacy was his affair and then they were all died
We have to leave them.alone
@@unowen-nh9ov not true, Peter had a two bedroom flat and rented the other bedroom to Alan, don’t believe everything in Wikipedia..
Even as a youngster this episode was anxiety inducing for their driving up that muddy lane in a clean car then getting out and walking around a bit.
Yes, in very unsuitable shoes.
@@hedgemist691 Exactly. When I was a youngster it was my honor to care for my father's dress shoes. I got a merit badge in the Cub Scouts for shoe and apparel appearance. Yeah, this scene really bugged me with that mud.
Wonderful !
Diana Rigg as Emma Peel was, to this twenty-something, the sexiest woman on TV in the Sixties. Without exception. She positively oozed sex appeal. The Avengers, good though the stories still were, was never quite the same after Peter Peel emerged from the jungle - and I loathed him for doing so!
Spot on
Never bother closing any doors.
I laughed about that. Come on, Steed. Help a girl out. 😄
When I was a little boy, I enjoyed watching the AVENGERS episodes starring Diana Rigg and Patrick Macnee. However, I stopped watching the show when Diana left. Rest in peace, Diana & Patrick.
Hermosa ❤😘
"Mrs. Peel, we're needed" say in German "Frau Peel, wir werden gebraucht".
Love it!
What a great team these two made. This was England in the 1960s far from what it is today. 🇬🇧 long live the queen. ❤
Just what I was thinking. A much freer and simpler time and none the worse for it, my friend...
What the Hell happened ?
@@tedolphbundler724 The same thing that will happen if Joe Biden and the far left extreme liberals get in power in the U.S.A.
Did they shoot that scene in london's suburbia?
Yes, around Elstree Hertfordshire..
Thanks
Wet and muddy going.
Five tenths of a mile. Why, that's almost half a mile.
All gone
♥️♥️♥️♥️
This was from "The death of Emma Peel".
Actually, the episode title is, "Epic".
It was the Epic. The Destruction of Emma Peel. I got it on DVD and Blu Ray Disks.
Steed Catches a Falling Star, and Emma Makes a Movie the year 1967.
Scary episode....but luckyli there is only fiction
Does raising the pitch somehow circumvent copyright infringement
I have permission from the copyright holder to post these, the pitch is caused by these being from that release where they sped up to sound to match the 30fps rate they were playing a 24fps piece of film at. :( Get the blurays, they are perfect.
@@dissoluteSwine Thank you for sharing these pristine looking clips! Just as a clarification on the pitch, however, i believe the issue is that the films were indeed shot at 24fps, but British television shows at 25fps, creating a subtle pitch shift which is apparent to the keen-eared listener. Playing at 30fps (US standard TV) would render the pitch unlistenable. The Americans deal with this by presenting each 2 film frames over 5 'fields' of video (each TV frame is composed of two 'fields' interleaved), thereby presenting 24 film frames over the series of 60 'fields'; 30 TV frames. No speed and pitch changes required.
@@redpillrecording5270 yes, it's a PAL encoding issue that causes the pitch shift. The new blurays do not have this problem.
It's amazing that they don't show Mr. Peel?! John Steed is her boss?
Peter Peel appears briefly in one episode -and looks exactly like Steed. Steed's not her boss as she doesn't work for the MoD, she's a 'talented amateur'.
Yes Peter Peel was missing presumed dead. In the last Mrs Peel episode The Forget Me Knot. He is found and is shown coming to pick up Mrs Peel at Steeds apartment where she is saying goodbye. When we see him open the car door for her he looks just like Steed ;)
@@djbvida The man playing Mr. Peel was Patrick's stunt double.
@don4476 Yes and no. The part where Peel is opening the car door for her was Patrick Macnee. When the car pulled away and she turns around to wave, it's the stunt double driving. Confirmed by Patrick himself. 👍
Hey Piers Johnson where's our full movie?
Under copyright, watch it on AppleTV/Hulu/wherever
Me gustaría ver el capítulo completo please....
Sorry, I don't have the permission of the copyright holders to post full episodes.
5/10th s of a mile :-) ......or 1/2 a mile if you prefer ...
Yes, it's an odd bit of the script.
UK car odometers had a first decimal place (of a mile) counter, so what you would see as you progressed was an increasing count 0.1 0.2 0.3 etc Hence 5 tenths of a mile makes sense - sort of.
Thanks!
I find it odd that the Avengers takes place in the UK and they used Miles and not kilometers.
Am I the only one who feels the same way?
@@mainstreetsaint36 At he time of the show, the UK still used miles. The UK went metric when it entered the European Common Market - the predecessor of today's EU.
What if Steed and Mrs. Peel
took on Thanos?
Any thoughts here....?
Mrs Peel would definitely come out on top.
Piers Johnson One snap of her fingers and he'd be toast.
Last time I checked five - tenths was the same as one half....
Apparently the line is due to odometers showing a single decimal place.
ID SURELY BE GREATFUL IF I COULD WATCH THE AVENGERS IN WHOLE. I JUST GET USED TO THE PLOT THEN WHAMO! SHE KICKS OFF! IF I HAVE TO RUN OUT AND MINE FOR THE AVENGERS DVD SETS THEN SO BE IT! I REALLY LIKE THIS SERIES. ITS A PITTY IT IS SO APPORTIONED. WHAT EVER.
5/10th's of a mile? Why not say 1/2 a mile?
" Diversity " of language ! Either or Either ! ( eyether ).
It's deliberate. It's meant to be amusing.
