Roaring ovation just from the opening riff before she sang the first word! I TOTALLY adore Tracy Chapman. Still have all my CD's and listen to them weekly. Legendary vocalist and writer. Have had the privilege of listening to her music for 35 yrs. now. Epic Grammy performance. I'm glad she got to see how much ppl appreciate her still.
Love this collaboration. 1st we heard Luke Combs on the radio with this song...I was like... wait! You have to hear the OG. My kids 11 and 13 were so annoyed!!! Gotta teach them the classics. This duet showed the love, the respect and the musicality.
His control to not overpower her voice is fantastic ❤❤

Luke's version is a perfect example of how an artist from a totally different genre can take a great song, leave it, effectively, the exact same song - but -add minor vocal changes to put their own stamp on it. Luke added tone and some hanging note pauses, but its the exact same song.

Luke was the reason this happened he took it to No1 this year first time in years a country song hit No 1 then Morgan Wallen following it up did the same with Last Night
Actually morgan was number one for 16 weeks the most for any song by a solo singer . Fast car was released after last night and and fast car did not go no 1 actually it was morgan s song that went no. 1 after a long time . Fast car was no 2 .
