Looks pretty tough, tires are legit... "of course it doesn't have a low range" *click* Thanks for not wasting a bunch of my time getting around to that detail.
FYI: I test drove a 2022 Pathfinder SL 4WD here in Central Texas where it was 100 degrees today on 7.29.21.. the reason I wanted to test drive one was to see how the AC worked because I saw a few reviews that said the AC didn't get cold enough...and they were RIGHT...The AC did NOT get cold enough IN THE 100 degree weather today.. I had the AC set to recycle the air from the inside air with AC button pressed and had it set to the lowest setting which was 60 degrees and the air did not feel crisp enough and would get warmer when u slowed down ,I also un pressed the AC button and that did not help..I own a 2015 Pathfinder SV and the air gets colder in it when I have it set to 70 degrees with the air being recycle from the inside air and the AC button is not pressed..Needless to say I was disappointed..matter of fact we help my mother in law buy a Nissan 2021 Kick last week and the AC gets colder then the New 2022 Pathfinder..Nissan please fix...Here in Texas if the AC isn't cold enough then nothing else matters with all the other new features...I definitely recommend testing one out on a HOT day before buying one..
We have one a d our ac gets ice cold. Was 103 this week and took 5 mins to cool down one time. Usually have to turn up to 73 or it us a bit chilly. I'm also one that keeps my house in the 60s. You want a poor ac try a Mazda cx9.
Also you have to make sure both front and rear air are not on the floor vents and of course recirculation. It gets colder much quicker if you back the fan speed off.
That did very well for an SUV that won't ever see dirt. AWD with torque vectoring is quickly approaching *near* low-range levels (tho, obviously, full-diff lock, low-range is always going to win).
All over the place there Roman. Inside, out, front, inside. It’s the same mall crawler as last generation, with new sheet metal and tranny. So off road capabilities would match last generation.
I'll venture to bet that both my current 4runner and former Frontier could have traversed that path in 2WD. Putting these "terrain select" switches on lifted AWD station wagons just gives people that don't need to be off roading a false sense of security that sometimes gets them into places they should not be and can't get out of. But to close on a positive note, at least this Pathfinder looks like a Pathfinder and not a a big Sentra station wagon. Thank goodness the CVT is gone. That does make this a viable alternative to the Explorer.
This is a huge improvement over the last generation. The pathfinder needed to get some of its off road heritage back, however Nissan knows that most customers will not take this this ever off road. Possibly roll out a more off road version like Ford did with the Timberline Explorer.
Nissan stepping up to the game!!!! Love to see Nissan compete in the Adventure/overland game and listening to there customers💪🏼 @NissanUSA bring us the Xterra 🐐
I don’t know why but it kinda remembers me of the 2000’s 3 row chevy Trailblazer. Like a big suv. With not much ground clearance but good soft roading.
Owned two Nissan Quests over 15 years. They went through tires, brakes and struts abnormally fast and pretty much started to fall apart after 60,000 miles. I'll never buy a Nissan again.
@@caleamus on cars sure, on off roads they shouldn't, I've personally never even heard about someone who did. You said proper off roader, proper off roader definitely shouldn't have air suspension, because when it breaks you'll end up with belly on the ground.
@@caleamusI forgot about that one. A) it has portal axles, so it will have plenty of clearence even if the sus breaks. B) it's more of an engineering and manufacturing display/show vehicle? It's basically run by a company. Look up disadvantages of air suspension, the risk of failure is just one.
That off-road video was a bit funny. I have been through sooo much worse in my Jeep Wrangler JK. That easy trail in that video is the kind of stuff I go through to get to the real trails.
Any info on being able to lift them aftermarket and/or do a swap for the front spoiler so it’s not going to drag sand along on the beach? Looks cool and would love to have a mid-large sized 4x4 v6 petrol which is a viable option
It's a good step forward from the last gen Pathfinder, but I personally wouldn't feel comfortable taking it on any thing more difficult than what was demo'd. In my opinion, they do not have the ground clearance, the tire, and likely the transmission to handle longer treks off-road. It is fine for a trail here or there, but they need to temper expectations better. This is not a Wrangler or even a Cherokee. People will get over confident and they will get themselves into trouble.
I sell Nissans. & I gotta say it’s a great time to be at Nissan. New body style Pathfinder,Frontier,Rogue, & Sentra are all stylish well done & feature a lot of features. I have seen an Ariya (new EV SUV coming soon) & it was beautiful inside & out. Excited to see the 400z
You know what's funny, my 5th gen 4Runner with an aftermarket skid plate and stock suspension only has about 7.2 inches of ground clearance under the front end, LOL.
We really need to stop calling anything under 9"of clearance "off road worthy" I mean not all of us want to rock crawl Moab, but we should be able to tackle some rutted out fire roads in Oregon without worrying about a punctured oil pan...
I don't think I'd ever actually drive on that kind of terrain, but I am thinking about traction in the snow, and I think this would be a vehicle I would consider if I could afford it...
The pastel blue Pathfinder wasn't exactly moving smoothly; more lurching forwards than anything else. But then it's not exactly go the right tyres for that track.
I have a 2004 Pathfinder that we sold many years ago. It was a pretty decent suv. Yesterday I was driving behind a new Pathfinder and I fell in love with the styling. Although it looks like Nissan did a terrific job overall, I find the large P A T H F I N D E R emblem in the back to be totally hideous, lol.
That's a easiest trails to go up and down. Regular cars with high enough ground clearance will make it too. I Know my 2001 Honda Accord 4 cylinders go through places rougher than that. I used for fishing, camping and hunting anywhere I have enough ground clearance.
Thank goodness they have put an automatic transmission back in the pathfinder. I couldn't stand it with cvt. I had one for a rental. I'd get one today if it came with low range, fore and aft lockers, true A/T tires and some form of suspension that could either be factory set, or raise by 3-4" when heading off-road. If they pushed this model shown down in the line up and made one like I just spec'd (with with what they already offer on the truck they are already 80-85% of the way there) I would gladly pay another 7-10k over this ones price point.
This is looking like my next vehicle to look at... I dont go off road like others. I do go on trails and weekend trips, and will tow also. Looks good as well. Just adding it to the list of vehicle to look at. I dont want the 3rd row though. Only need and want the regular 2 row
This car has a lots of going for it. I like the size and look, has a decent 3rd row seats w/o being stretched like Jeep GC L is. Priced very competitively. That being said Honda Civic ground clearance is 6.7 inches, this one has 7.1. I can live w/o LOW range but this needs to at least have clearance to match Subaru Outback or Toyota Highlander. RockCreek is only marginally better at 7.7 mostly due to larger tires - MPG goes down 10% or so probably mostly due to ridiculously overly engineered roof rack.
every car I've ever owned can climb that hill: Honda Civic, Buic Century, 2wd Dakota, Windstar minivan, etc. What does that tell you about the new Pathfinder?
I try to give these RUclips vehicle reviewers the benefit of the doubt, however, 14 times out of 11, the "off-road" courses they demo the vehicles on, are a HUGE disappointment.
I just want the xterra to come back with a real low range and optional lockers.

Looks pretty tough, tires are legit... "of course it doesn't have a low range" *click*
Thanks for not wasting a bunch of my time getting around to that detail.
Cool Off Road Shorts! Waiting for the embargo to go for the incoming detailed reel with some dirty actions
No cooled seats on an upper trim level? That’s a must-have in 2021
FYI:
I test drove a 2022 Pathfinder SL 4WD here in Central Texas where it was 100 degrees today on 7.29.21.. the reason I wanted to test drive one was to see how the AC worked because I saw a few reviews that said the AC didn't get cold enough...and they were RIGHT...The AC did NOT get cold enough IN THE 100 degree weather today..
Bummer they didn't put the rear door handles in the C pillar.
as they shouldnt have
@@shivamarya5225 same. My kids cannot reach the handles so high up...
Fully agree. AWD can't handle too much for too long. Overheats and you left with FWD in the middle of bad terrain.
Omg it looks awesome!!!!!!! I’m getting one - I just decided
I miss my old '90 WD21 Pathfinder. However... I have to say, my' 13 subaru legacy could scramble up that "course"
Does anyone know why the Pathfinder only has 7.1 inches of ground clearance and not 8.1 like most SUVs in its class??
I know, right?! This pisses me off so much!
We need the AWD roller test.
Agreed.
Does it come with spare?
What tires are on the platinum version?
Yes it comes with a spare.
I would love to put some air suspension and make it into a real off-roader, it’s gorgeous and the looks deserve to pay homage to the R51!
Air suspension and real off roader in the same sentence make no sense.
@@odys3803 well some people do put air suspension on their cars
@@caleamus on cars sure, on off roads they shouldn't, I've personally never even heard about someone who did. You said proper off roader, proper off roader definitely shouldn't have air suspension, because when it breaks you'll end up with belly on the ground.
@@odys3803 well have you heard about the Toyota mega Tourer? It’s a 6x6 Land Cruiser made for overlanding in the outback and it has air suspension
Would you recommend this over the Highlander or the Pilot?
I sell Nissans. & I gotta say it’s a great time to be at Nissan. New body style Pathfinder,Frontier,Rogue, & Sentra are all stylish well done & feature a lot of features. I have seen an Ariya (new EV SUV coming soon) & it was beautiful inside & out. Excited to see the 400z
They’re just hopping on the overland train and made it look “off-roady” when it only has 7.2 inches of ground clearance lol.
Old 1 had 6.9 so it's going in the right direction.
You know what's funny, my 5th gen 4Runner with an aftermarket skid plate and stock suspension only has about 7.2 inches of ground clearance under the front end, LOL.
We really need to stop calling anything under 9"of clearance "off road worthy"
I mean not all of us want to rock crawl Moab, but we should be able to tackle some rutted out fire roads in Oregon without worrying about a punctured oil pan...
I don't think I'd ever actually drive on that kind of terrain, but I am thinking about traction in the snow, and I think this would be a vehicle I would consider if I could afford it...
Cool green paint!
Can believe the pathfinder is now a car. It used to be a pretty cool truck.
Great POV off-road video! Will you include more off-road impressions in the full first drive review?
I wish they had hybrid pathfinder
Clicked as fast as I could!
You and me both LOL
@@7g6_66 LOL
Same!!
And only to be left dissatisfied...
@@seth3000gt yep
So the new pathfinders are body-on-frame, or are they still unibody?
Unibody, no more body on frame
if it was rear wheel drive based, with a low range ,and no. 3rd row id might buy one
What’s with the plastic cladding under the bumper? Looks like damage waiting to happen.
True to its core now. Welcome back Pathfinder. Africa awaits.
The color looks very interesting
Wow the blue is also not bad
Yes! Enough with the penguin colors. Bring back the greens!
I think that's called the armada?
@@occckid123 No lockers on the Armada and it's too big and bloated to take "off-road". The Armada is strictly a people mover.
@@AldermanFredCDavis the patrol has it. I'm sure they can add that if need be but yes it's big.
@@occckid123 guess what, there is a POV of the new pathfinder. Look! ruclips.net/video/flm9g45T-0M/видео.html
When they pressed the button that released the 2nd row seats, why did the seat slam forward so abruptly??!!! I can see that breaking over time.
Why the embargo though? Are they still flushing out the bugs in software or something?
We need Nissan Patrol in USA!!!!
A Nissan Armada Pro-4x could be it in the USA.
This is looking like my next vehicle to look at... I dont go off road like others. I do go on trails and weekend trips, and will tow also. Looks good as well. Just adding it to the list of vehicle to look at. I dont want the 3rd row though. Only need and want the regular 2 row
Wow, had no idea this was about to come out. Was about to pull the trigger on a new Highlander but may have to wait a bit.
Don’t waste money on crap highlander - buy this pathfinder
@@matts76 Highlander isn’t crap
Highlander vs Pathfinder.... that's what your considering? Is someone fron Nissan paying you to say that?
The Platinum trim will probably cost nearly $50k. I would get a F-150 Lightning XLT instead. It is a no brainer.
That’s the problem… at this price range there are LOTS of good options that are definitely better off-road than this ever could be.
mind is on order 68.000 spring of 2022 maybe ...f150 ev platlum plus tax
It would be perfect with another 11/2-2” ground clearance.
This is the color i liked the most
This car has a lots of going for it.
I was just thinking back when my dad had his 1990 Dodge Grand Caravan we saw much tougher trails out in New Mexico than this...
I try to give these RUclips vehicle reviewers the benefit of the doubt, however, 14 times out of 11, the "off-road" courses they demo the vehicles on, are a HUGE disappointment.
It does what most people want. To get to the good camp spots that you can’t get to with a car. Of course it isn’t “real off-road”
The platinum & (some) SL premium trims have a fully digital dash & a larger screen for media. Same applies for the Rogue.
I think it's a great change to the Pathfinder, hopefully more improvements to come from Nissan on this vehicle.
I think there is gonna good fight between new pathfinder and new grand cherokee
What a come back Nissan! I'm sure NYPD gonna order a few
The R51 Pathfinder still serves me well. New one looks okay, but I'd rather have a real SUV truck (based off of the Frontier).
The embargo for the 2022 Pathfinder ends this week on the 20th?
Guess what POV video here! ruclips.net/video/flm9g45T-0M/видео.html
