The reason Shulk and Rex are free from the flame clock but their kids aren't is kinda easy to miss due to needing to notice a tidbit of info after talking to Linka after maxing out her affinity. Basically she mentions that most people were absorbed by the 2 worlds merging but a few people were spared from it. Basically Glimmer and Nickol were in the endless rebirth cycle because they were absorbed by the merge. This is likely what happened to the other XB1/XB2 main characters we don't see in XB3. From what I can tell, there are 4 groups in Aionios. 1, those trapped in the endless death/rebirth cycle (Keves & Agnus) 2, people born after the merge so they age normally (City folk) 3, Moebius 4, Those who were not absorbed by the merge so time has essentially stopped for their bodies (Shulk, Rex, Melia, Nia, Riku). The only characters who don't visibly age are either Moebius related or are characters from XB1/XB2 who were spared from the merge, this also likely includes Linka and Panacea who are implied to be the children of Zeke/Pandora and Reyn/Sharla with the former referencing Zeke during the "Linka's birthday" quest and telling Rex "You know what he's like" implying she remembers him from before the merge. And also Riku who pretty much straight up says he's one of Rikis kids. This is also why Riku is in both the DLC and main game and why Melia recognises him when they meet again. Sorry for the wall of text but I hope that clears things up a little.
Well explained. I wonder how the first City was established. I guess the Liberators (Shulk, Rex, etc) actually liberated Keves and Agnus soldiers and from there the first City was built?
If panacea and linka are immortal then where did they go in the base game? I suppose they can still be killed and I guess that due to alpha being defeated the compact between the liberators and moebius ended and thus the moebius likely aimed to hunt them down since they are a threat to the system.
somethign that peopel don't bring up alot: while shulk and rex both copied their mentors' looks (Dunban, Vandham, and Zeke specifically) they also untinentionally got hairstyles closer to their greatest enemies Zanza and Malos
I don't think that's intentional or even true honestly. Malos had his due pushed together and forward in the center, whereas Rex's rode off to the side much more reminiscent of Addam, his predecessor. Zanza proper in 1 had the same short hair as Shulk, but I could see it being interpreted as in line with the Klaus we met in 2, though I would not classify him as being Shulk's enemy in any sense of the word. Especially when even Shulk clearly sees Klaus as a different person from Zanza going from the way he spoke of them in the visions they saw in Origin (worded vaguely to avoid spoilers but if you know you know).
The "Philadelphia" reference goes even further than just name dropping a real life location. In Xenogears, the ship seen at the intro cinematic is called the Eldridge, which is classified as a Philadelphia-class colony ship in the Xenogears lorebook Perfect Works. This is further a reference to real life hoax about the "Philadelphia experiment" that was purported to have been attempted on the USS Eldridge, a US Navy destroyer, that would have made the ship invisible.
The thing w/ Shulk and Rex not telling Nikol and Glimmer who they really are is: Nikol and Glimmer are part of the endless cycle of death and rebirth via the Flame Clocks, so they don't understand the concept of families and parents. Just think back to how the main party from the main game reacted seeing people in The City and the process of birth and reproduction. So they would have no idea what Shulk and Rex are talking about. It would just confuse them even more and that would present another set of problems that aren't the main priority right now - which is trying to defeat Alpha and reclaim Origin. Shulk and Rex are well aware of this, that's why they settle for just trying to be strong mentor figures who try to guide them towards the right path (Rex scolding Glimmer over her rash behavior, putting everyone in danger in the process) and bond with them over similar interests (Shulk and Nikol chatting and sharing ideas over mechanics and electronics.) And then, when the time is right, because they already know at this point they're most likely going to join A to keep Origin running properly in Alpha's absence. They'll pass on their life force to Nikol and Glimmer, who will carry on their work alongside Panacea and Linka w/ the Liberators and The City, and they'll eventually figure it out for themselves.
When Rex said that there was someone with an eyepatch that he respected he was talking about Zeke not Vandham. Xenoblade 2 Vandham has both of his eyes.
All their questions about the old party members is explained in a few lines in a sidequest almost everyone got sucked into Origin as the words began to fuse together but those who were a bit farther like Rex, Shulk, Nia, Mellia, Poppie, Riku(strongly implied to be one of Riki's kids), Zeke's daughter and Sharla's daughter all of them didnt end up in Origin because Mobius interupted the process and now they're all stuck in this new world as unageing imortals becaus time techincaly isnt moveing. As for why the kids were solders that has to do with the fact that the base game in a sidequest they tell you Mobius only used people under 20 origin data as they were easier to manipulate , mind wipe, brainwash and control then someone with more life experience and since their kids got sucked up into Origin it only makes sense they would pop up as solders sooner or later,
I really hope the emphasis on exploration is a sign of things to come. I just loved getting significant upgrades from just exploring and finding hidden areas and stuff.
I’m fine with shulk and Rex never revealing that they’re the parents of the kids, you gotta keep in mind that they were both a part of the cycle, they have no concept of parenthood or anything so it wouldn’t really mean anything for them without needing to awkwardly explain things which they have no basis for. Also I do think it makes for an interesting relationship between all of the kids and their parents, they want to spend time with them but they don’t want to indulge in their own desires by dumping their whole connection on the kids
My thoughts exactly. I saw a meme that was Shulk telling Nikol "I'm your father." Nikol responds "What's a father?" Then there'd be a 20 minute cutscene similar to one we already had... I think if there was a little more bonding it'd be great, but what we got was good. There was a lot that was implied that came across just in body movement, looks, etc. (Like Glimmer running to them in the end, looking and being concerned). And I'm pretty sure they learned later on how babies are made and made the connection.
I love that any screenshot of cast in the radio scene makes it look like they're all a group of cosplayers that got on the wrong bus or something. All of it was peak
Within the first minute of Chapter 5 starting I laughed because of how ill-fitting the characters' clothes and designs are to the environment. It was such a sweet dissonance, and it really shows how the new worlds that Klaus created really are unique to the one that came before.
Riku isn't confirmed to be Riki's son, as his description of his daddypon being a travelling companion of Melia's also fits with Kino from Future Connected making him either Riki's son or his grandson. Kino being Riku's father actually makes a bit more sense as Riku and Kino are both a very similar shade of green, whereas none of Riki's blood-related children shown are green as they are either yellow like Riki or pink like his wife Oka and Kino was said to be adopted according to his sister Nene in FC.
They actually do explain in the game that it was basically random chance that Origin put some people into the time clock system and not others (It was told by either Linka or Panacea at one point) but I'm still really confused why Rex and Shulk are around but not any of the other party members like you guys said, and also how so much time has passed in the world of Aionios (Enough time for N to have great grand kids) but Rex and Shulk have only aged around 20 years. I was kind of hoping for those things to be explained but they never were, other than that I really enjoyed the DLC! It also took me a while to realise but I'm really happy that basically the whole ending of 3 is them returning the worlds back to normal so in a way the endings of 1 and 2 are still canon in that the characters of 1 and 2 got to live out their lives happily (Although I'm not sure how/if the worlds combining again at the end of the credits would affect that if at all)
while i don't know about the time disparity, it's implied from Riku's affinity conversation that the other important xenoblade 1 and 2 characters were absorbed by origin and the metal that contained their memories and souls was used to forge Lucky Seven so that's why they aren't around. or at the very least thats how i took it
Rex Shulk Nia and Melia made Origin the way it is, so i guess it’s fitting they’re not treated as everyone else in the system. It’s probably their choice so they can act as a kind of failsafe if anything goes wrong. Thay’re not aging because they’re avatars, a projection of themselves in Aionios.
Just finished this today, at 26 hours of play time. What a resounding achievement this trilogy has been, i cant wait to see what they do with incorporating Xenosaga and X going forward
I actually think Riku might be Kino’s kid. All he says is that his dadapon adventured with Melia which could be Kino. Yes Riki had a million kids so it’s possible but I lean towards Kino. And not that colors seem to matter as far as Nopon but he is closer to Kino in that regard, and Riku being similar to Riki was probably Kino paying tribute to his adoptive father. I could be mistaken but I believe Kino also built his own ether canon and Riki never really came across as tech saavy so it would make more sense that he inherited that from Kino.
In a heart to heart in future connected, or a sidequest, Kino says that since his wings are weaker than his siblings, Riki went out to find the blast berry for the ether cannon and made it for him.
To clear up some story confusion at the beginning. It was explain in the main game that Origin is a data storage for everyone’s soul so that they’ll be recreated once the worlds reunite. Moebius hijacked the data in order to revive people to fight in their endless war, which includes Rex and Shulk’s kids and probably every other past characters. Now, what makes Rex and Shulk different is that they were among a group of people who entered Origin in order to fix all of its problems (Alpha, Moebius, etc), rather than being recreated. So they’re not affected by the rules of Aionios since they came from their home world and are essentially immortal. Other people that did this were Melia, Nia, Riku, Panacea, etc.
Rex Melia Shulk Nia are those who build Origin the way it is, so they probably have admin rights to the system, explaining why they aren’t affected by the endless now. I dont think Panacea and Linka were included at first, they were probably freed by rex and co later, they’ll age just like nikol and glimmer will too.
@@rvaisse Linka clearly explained that She, Panacea, Nia, Melly, Riku, Rex, Shulk, Pan are the "chosen ones" to fix the Origin's problem and was mysteriously unaffected by Origin...
8:13 it was explained by Linka that the Liberators are the survivors of Bionis and Alrest after the two worlds merged into Aionios. That's why they're not bound to the Flame Clocks. Nikol and Glimmer are reincarnations of Shulk and Rex's offsprings because of Origin.
So I finished Linka's community last night and she mentions how some people, like her, Shulk, Rex, and Panacea, were not entered into the cycle and were brought straight into Aionios for unknown reasons and unknown as to how. I'm guessing it was a failsafe in Origin or maybe something Alvis did before he lost his conscience, or maybe Pneuma did it and thats why shes AFK in crystal because she used all her power to bring in people that could hopefully fix the world. I'm guessing this is why they don't age too, like Melia and Nia. Also, about why Shulk and Rex are there but not the other characters from previous games are, I think we don't hear about what happened to the other characters because of how they weren't brought in to Aionios for whatever reason. They were probably just chilling in their respective worlds, living their lives, and now they're probably in the cycle, somewhere - or too old for it and just in digital Ark retirement. Or actually in Lucky 7, for the XC1 party.
It’s a different project exodus though. In X, it was to escape aliens, which isn’t what destroyed the planet in 1/2. Exodus in this is more of the ships leaving earth aka new Jerusalem to be the humans and universe in xenosaga 1-3
This had a David Lynch type feel in that, you show but don’t tell and never explain. Once you explain, most of the fun and mystery is gone - not saying outright allows people to continue to theorise about characters and locations. I also get the impression from the dialogue that both Rex and Shulk have seen their children die in this world - Rex mentions about how a parent shouldn’t outlive their child - and they use this “chance” of seeing them again to give them a chance at a full life.
Just finished it the day and I was immensely satisfied with it. I actually think it helped appreciate the message the main game was going for so I jump right back in for another play through for the main game.
There's a lot to like in Future Redeemed, (and still so many questions), but one thing that really stood out to me was how they recontextualized N's assault on The City and his descendants. They did a great job of adding an extra layer of depth to who was already the best villain in the game.
I kind of thought N was an ass clown before this DLC, besides his metaphorical meanings for Noah. But He was actually in Conflict the whole time which is a really cool recontextualization which does make him an equal Villain to Jin from 2 in a way. It makes His Breakdown in 3 have more weight as well because he killed Ghondor and Mio was all he had left.
Since they mentioned Project Exodus, this also means that the war going on at the beginning of Xenoblade X is probably the same conflict seen around earth in the Klaus flashback of two. It would be interesting if the new earth shown at the end is the actual world of Xenoblade X as well.
Yeah sorry to burst your bubble, but it is not the same conflict. In XCX those are aliens while in XC2 the attackers are human (saviorite rebels) also the earth did get destroyed in XCX. Also Project Exodus in X was to escape from the aliens here it is to colonize the galaxy
@@Zino_blade just like they changed Alvis key into core crystal, I'm sure they can fit Xenoblade X when monolithsoft get around to make remake someday
@@thieftheodore yeah that could be possible but honestly I doubt it bc changing the key to a core crystal was just a small character design change to confirm he is Ontos. Writing the aliens out of X would be way too huge and would change a big part of X's story. But hey it could be possible and at the moment we can't really know whats next but speculate
The ending references things from every other Xeno game so they’ll have to retcon a few thinks if they intend on merging Gears Saga Blade and X all into one but it’s not impossible
Great timing, I just finished the game too and what a ride! This was the satisfying fan service I wanted from 3 dialed up to 11, gameplay was satisfying as anything, and I'm going to be combing through the story of this one and the full saga for years to come!
There's a side quest in the DLC with Riku that explains that all of the party members from Xenoblade 1 sacrificed themselves after Mobius took over to put their souls in Lucky 7 so that there would be a sword that could match the power of N's
To explain how Origin integrates people and doesn't integrate people. The plan for origin was to have it assimilate everyone, which basically meant it would absorb them and convert them into data which it could then reproduce into a person. Origin would survive the annihilation of the two world and then recreate them using the data it has. It seems to me like it had gotten through with 99.9% of the job, most people were assimilated including some major characters like Fiora, Zeke, Riki etc, however some key figures like Shulk, Rex, Melia, Riku and Nia, stayed behind to overlook the process. Before origin could assimilate those few remaining characters, the anxiety of the people within origin manifested into Moebius and Z was born. Z created the eternal now which slowed the flow of time to a crawl, indefinitely delaying the annihilation of the world. The result was those few characters who didn’t make it into origin are being affected by time at a miniscule fraction of it's normal speed. By the time future redeemed has happened, N has experienced several cycles as a kevesi soldier, at least a few decades have passed since the eternal now started and yet Rex and Shulk haven't aged accordingly because in real time not even a moment has passed. This is why Riku doesn’t age at all between the DLC and the main game. He was one of the ones who wasn’t assimilated, so he isn’t experiencing time the way those born into Aionios are. Normally, Nopon do age, they aren't eternal, and they age faster than high entia. It's only the Nopon Archsage who is basically immortal. It can be assumed that the other legendary nopon blacksmiths (with the hammers) are the same as they collectively forged lucky seven alongside Melia and were probably involved with crafting origin itself.
I got really invested in all of these characters so it’s hard for me to see the series go. It was a great conclusion but after beating it today I’m having sad feeling you get when you finish something you really enjoy.
I think one of the biggest missed opportunities from a musical standpoint was not playing "Exploration" during the cave segments of the game. We already have the main battle theme of Xenoblade Chronicles 1 playing near Colony 9, so having the alternate battle theme from 2 (seeing as the main battle theme was already in 3 with Ino's sidequest) would have been a really nice touch. Also, unless I'm mistaken, the Unique Monster theme playing against Shulk and Rex during Niqol and Glimmer's required sidequest was the only time the theme played during s story segment. I found that fascinating since the Unique Monster themes of 1 ans 2 would occasionally play during the story segments of those games, but never seemed to do so at any point in 3. It playing against Shulk and Rex seemed like a nice callback there.
I clocked in about 15 hours on the dot. Really enjoyed this DLC as well as all the throwbacks. Felt like I had a good bit of time to explore, but pushed hard when the story picked up
Just finished it tonight, loved it. Glad they made this the really fan service part and the main game is more it’s own story with some fan service on the side though
there is a nice happy ending with the worlds successfully merging (leading to extra satisfaction for how the main game ends), but considering this may be the last time we see some of these Xenoblade characters for a while I wish they went just a bit more Full Send on the epilogue. There's so much talk between Nia, Rex, and all these past figures that they'll see everyone again once Aionios is over that I would've liked a quick voiceless montage of that. Heck, Mythra's kid from the photo doesn't even have a name or design besides blonde baby! Actual moment to moment gameplay wise though this was a further refinement of XC3. Excited for whatever's next from Monolith!
I think The old gaurd wont be returning, But i do think Character's from 3 as well as Nikol, glimmer Mathew and NA'el will return, perhaps as older young adults. Especially Mathew and NA'el, I just kind of feel like they are too great of character's to only have Contributed and existed in a 30 hour game.
This. It really gets me that this was the last chance for closure on a lot of these characters, and a great opportunity to show the XC3 gang one more time, at least. Since they did it for the XC2 cast, I kind of would have been happy just seeing a picture of every character ever at the festival from the beginning/end of the game. If this really was the last chapter of this saga, I wish they would have thrown everything at it and really given us that closure- overtly, not via implication or subtext or whatever.
Zeke literally has both eyes, the eyepatch was an aesthetic choice to hid the Eye of Shining Justice (which he actually has it wasn't just a joke). Vandham was his mentor, Zeke barely taught him a thing as they were comrades and not teacher/student.
Lmao I knew you guys said you’d talk about spoilers, but I was NOT prepared to see xenoblade characters walking around a boring looking suburb. Audible gasp from me.
SPOILERS: I kinda saw it as Shulk and Rex having children in their own worlds, and their data was uploaded to Origin, so they are reincarnated in the Aionios cycle. Idk if that's the case, but to me it adds some depth to the fathers being reluctant while desperate to connect with them once again
This DLC made this game beyond legendary. The pacing was incredible. I was in awe the entire time I didn’t want it to end. I liked this party way more than the base game.
@@adriahrin3284 I like the base game party but damn if this DLC party ain’t my stuff and it’s nice to have someone that isn’t 17 and have some grown ass dudes like shulk and Rex I really like A too. I think if they could have gotten more time to shine it wouldn’t even be a contest. Imagine having 100 hours with the DLC party to develop. But there isn’t a wrong answer both are amazing parties.
They also never mention that Rex is also related to Matthew and Na'el, not just Glimmer. Rex and Nia had Mio, who had Ghondor with Noah. And then Ghondor had his kids who we never see, but who had Matthew and Na'el.
Glimmer and Nikol are created from pods and put into the cycle to fight. They are data from Origin, so they grew up without Rex and Shulk as their “father”. Once the world gets reset Rex and Shulk should get their whole family back.
@omensoffate aionios makes it really complicated but essentially Rex and Nia have a daughter, who is (M)io. Mio has a son with (N)oah, who is Ghondor and then Matthew is a decendant of Ghondor
- Melia made Lucky Seven with the help of 7 nopon over 7 years. That's why it's called like that. - When Rex say if *those two* were there, he is alluding Pneuma and Logos and how they could make Ontos stop acting like a machine, in theory. It's also implied that N sword is powered by Logos (somehow). - In Linka's community, she says that some people are born outside the clocks influence (like Shulk and Rex), it's unknown how or why. - I believe that shiny spark flying towards the Earth are humans returning from the Project Exodus.
I'd like to know where N got his version of Lucky Seven and does his sheath hold Logos' core crystal because it does have that purple glow, and that seems like what they were trying to imply at the end
Yeah it is very much implied but we never get to know how he got his hands on it. Even funnier Z says in one line in the DLC that even he doesn't know why N has that sword
I guess being Aegises Pneuma and Logos were destined to become somekind of monado in this new world and would endup in the hands of the people who could make a difference. Pneuma’s duality ( Pyra/Mythra) seems to be what made the Ourobouros power a thing.
Just finished the game an hour ago and as someone who was brought in because of Chuggas original let’s play for Xenoblade 1 it feels very cathartic to have played all the games (including X) and now have closure that it’s all over… until they pull a fast one and announce Xenosageblade 4 XD
I so badly want to play this but i just have no time between finishing up my last semester in college, star wars jedi survivor, and tears of the kingdom so soon. Hopefully this summer I'll find some time
I loved this DLC. And this is something small, but would have made me even more happy, is that I wish they included some XB2 music. I also wish they played Valak mountain music when you got to the area they mention it. Tantal and Valak music from the original games are some of my favorite video game music ever.
31:21 Riku is actually Kino's son. The little Nopon in Future Connected. "Dadapon of Riku and Melly once traveling companions." Kino would fit this, plus Kino's got the colors that go with Riku more.
The only thing that was "bad" a out this game is that it finished way too fast. I wanted to spend soooo much more time messing around with Shulk, Shulk's son, Shulk's old friend, Rex, Rex's daughter, Rex's great-great grandson and Rex' great-great granddaughter. Okay, but jokes aside, I actually love that all 5 of the other characters in the party are just the relatives (or friend in A's case) of Shulk and Rex.
On the radio they drop direct references to X as well with the Earthlife Colonization Project and Project Exodus. Since X and Saga have contradicting backstories I'm predicting the next step is gonna be a saga reboot rather than a remake or remaster, that way they can recontextualize the saga story to fit in with X and the main trilogy. Like already it seems the saviorites are a new take on the realians from saga.
Most reasonable Xeno fan. Seen some straight up crazy comments stating the next MonolithSoft game is literally Xenosaga 4, despite them not even owning the IP.
@NoonDragoon I mean at this point bamco is in the credits for this game and it's not like they don't have a good relationship with Nintendo. They litterally made the last 2 smash games with sora ltd. so I don't see any reason they'd refuse a partnership with monolith to make more xenosaga, especially after letting them use elements of saga like kosmos and the vector logo since xenoblade 2.
@@eseph9899 A partnership for some character appearances and verbal references is very different than one studio making a game for an IP they don't even own. MonolithSoft isn't even in charge of the remasters for their own created games, like with Baten Kaitos coming this summer. So I have no idea why people think they will be able to, or even want to, make a new Xenosaga which MonolithSoft won't even be able to own and would be completely at the behest of a publisher they previously publicly had a falling out with.
@NoonDragoon idk if you saw the info that was just found but Xenosaga Series is listed in the IP notice for xenoblade 3 now. You can see it yourself on your switch.
@@eseph9899 I don’t really know what that is meant to prove or disprove. If Nintendo actually acquires the Xenosaga IP then I’ll actually believe the Saga fans.
Also i think its implied that just like Pneuma is in the Gauntlet, Logos/Malos is in N's sword of the end. Which is why ot has putple energy and when both are used together it actuvates the real power of Ouroboros.
In the final affinity quests for Riku, Panacea and Linka they give the closest answer to the “why”. As we know from the base game most of everyone got absorbed into origin and they are the people on the war cycle. The exceptions on the main game were Nia, Melia and Poppy, but this one reveals that the previous 3, and at least Rex and Shulk are also outside the cycle. Origin gave a free pass to a few people, who seemed to age slower.
They gave themselves a free pass, they are the ones who build origin the way it is. They’re not aging at all because they’re avatars, somekind of failsafe in case everything goes wrong.
@@rvaisse That's probably the best answer I've seen, but how then does Linka have memories of her parents? Then again, maybe Linka and Panacea are similar to Mathew since I don't think it's ever directly stated who their parents are... Wish the writers were a little more explicit here and there!
@@nathannemyman3522 Panacea's parents are implied to be (Xenoblade 1) Reyn and Sharla (look at her hair and Japanese VA). Linka's parents are implied to be (Xenoblade 2) Zeke and Pandoria (again, look at her hair and Japanese VA). Even their English voices were chosen to sound similar to their moms.
Great discussion, I loved this DLC all the way through. Hope we get an interview with Tetsuya Takahashi going over a few of the unanswered points in this game. Like how N got The Sword Of The End, does it have Malos’ core crystal, where’s Mythra’s child, why Rex and Shulk won’t refer to anyone from their past by name 💀
I think the reason why Rex and Shulk never name drop their old friends is so that new players aren’t out of the loop. Which doesn’t make sense as the dlc basically spoils Xbc 1 and 2.
I just kind of feel like they cant mention Certain things in aionios because there are "Rules". A/Alvis says removing the tattoos from Nikol in the end is "breaking the rules" . So i assume there are certain admin rules they cannot break for one reason or another because there would be negative consequence's like creating more Mobius or activating memories from origin in the wrong way.
I can’t deal with this being the conclusion. This was so good, and I loved it so much. I hope Shulk and Rex can come back eventually. I hope they left it so open with all of the other characters so that we might get future games.
My big question is what happens to everyone from the City after 3. People who clearly were not born from either world. Do they just randomly appear in each world? Stop existing? Left with the scraps of Aionios? Maybe the world show at the end of FR was theirs after the split. Who can say? Either way, it’s a bitter sweet pill to swallow that this saga has ended. But I’m looking forward to whatever is next, be they make new Xenoblade or a new franchise entirely. Monolith earned it all.
According to Linka when you fulfill her community requirements when Aionios was created almost everyone was assimilated by Origin with only a few people remaining which is what happened to the other party members
Quick comment. But did anyone notice that the ending theme song sounds similar to the ending theme song of Xenosaga Episode I? It even has the same vocalist, Joanne Hogg.
The secquence i believe is actually trying to conmect all the games and im hoping for continuation. When they say phuladelphia class ship its a connection to the ship from Xenogears. Project Exodus is also from Xenoblade X. As is the coalition government and number of ships and the month of July.
As much as I’m desperate to know I do actually like that they don’t just explicitly explain what happened after 1 & 2 and how everyone got to this point. They give us hints and puzzle pieces that have major implications. But doing the fan service in this way lets it still feel like a piece of XBC3 and not just a direct follow up to 1&2.
As much as I loved Future Redeemed as a game... Gotta say... The story didn't scratch the itch I had. The lore dumps were mindbending of course, but it felt like a missed opportunity to not have more characters from 1 and 2 and have them mingle more. Go out on a real bang y'know? I just think Torna had a better story out of the DLC games. I actually cried at the ending of that one. Nothing in here really hit me in the feels, or felt like it tried to.
Might be the story isn’t over yet. Kinda feels like Takahashi has been building up this multiverse of his and bringing everything back together so he can revive Xenosaga. Maybe we’ll get a Xenoblade 4 or Xenoblade X sequel.
I kind of agree. They introduced this DLC by showing Shulk and Rex would be important characters, so it felt like that had to be the tip of the iceberg as far as references to past games go. I was less excited for the lore and more excited by the possibility of character moments...any time Rex talks with Glimmer or Shulk talks with Nikol....THOSE scenes almost got me. I was really expecting them to go full ham, especially since this seems like the last time a lot of these older characters have a chance at being relevant.
Glimmer and Mio/M being Rex's daughters Noah/N being his son in law Ghondor being his grandson. Matthew being his great great grandson. Not to mention 3 of the houses in the city in the main game all being descendants of him, 4 if the theory of Nikol and Glimmer getting together is true. Rex's bloodline really shine through in this game.
The nopon don't live very long lives, they were never shown to live longer than humans, the only exception is the archsage. As explained by Linka the reason why Riku, Shulk, Rex, Linka, Panacea, and even Melia and Nia are alive and not aging at all is because when Aionios was formed they were not assimilated into the system. From that is easy to deduce that since Moebius froze time they also got stuck at the ages they had at the time Origin was activated. Why did it happen? Does it really matter? Aionios shouldn't exist to begin with, but if that could happen anything else could have gone wrong. I mean, despite time being frozen annihilation events still happen and they're are slowly destroying the world, Z's power is just not that perfect.
Is time really frozen though? Feels like all Z is doing is creating an illusion of frozen time with his cycle. But clearly as you said the annihilation events still happen there is still a clear past and future to the world.
@@babyjiren9676 Time is either frozen or moving so slowly that something that should happen in an instant is taking literally thousands of years, so even if it's not 100% completely frozen the normal flow of time being interrupted is a very real thing that's happening. Anyway, this series has already very explicitly shown that stagnation leads inevitably to self destruction, so annihilation events tearing apart Aionios seem to be another manifestation of that idea.
I think that we might see these characters come back. Before watching this I thought that the Xenoblade Chronicles series was officially over now that the arc was finished. However, now that you pointed out that Monolithsoft is connecting the Xeno series as a whole, I feel like that we will either get a Xenoblade 4 in the start of a new saga, or a new Xeno series that encapsulates the Xeno series as a whole. With all the questions left and characters like Mythra’s child not being shown, I think there is room for a new story. In a perfect world, we would get Mythra’s kid as part of the new party in a subsequent game. I think that how vaguely the story addressed that past characters is leaving room for addressing it in the future. They don’t address the time skip from 1/2 to 3 because I think it leaves room to explore it in a future game. I know the previous Xeno games never really got the intended conclusions, so their sequels could be addressed in a climactic, Endgame style series. I’ll shoot my shot here, despite not saying all of this is guaranteed, I think we can get a new story where the party is made up of characters from Gears, Saga, and Blade. I would absolutely LOSE IT if that happened. I think it’s a little more possible than a pie in the sky hope, but right now it’s my game idea that’s unlikely but is my copium now that my favorite game series is over.
They also have another xenoblade arc to explore in the world of X. X is weird though, due to character customization and Elma being the actual mc, forcing the game to walk this thin bridge between western rpg and japanese rpg
The way I see it when they said the Klaus saga was finished that includes all the characters/worlds tied to him, outside of the Conduit which I can see making future appearances. That said, I can see a Xenoblade Warriors down the line with all these characters. It would also be the perfect opportunity to throw in guest characters like Fei, Kosmos, and even Elma without having to worry about future implications since it's a spinoff title.
Oh damn I did everything but a couple super bosses and clocked in at 35 hours, though part of that was playing on hard where battles can really drag on forever
Look to play the trails series next after Zelda and ff16. Y’all seen my comments before y’all love xenoblade world building and characters and music. Trails have it too. I think if one you guys do a video on it y’all can help push the series in more eyes
I don't think there are that many unanswered questions in Future Redeemed. They don't have a concise metaphysical explanation for every little detail, but its not like that's necessary for the story. My explanation for why Shulk and Rex are as they are is because Aionios is a world stopped in time. The people in the cycle are those who were children (roughly around 10 years old) when the worlds collided. Everyone was saved to Origin as data but only the children were part of the forever war reincarnation cycle. So everyone else just stayed stored inside Origin. But there were some exceptions. It's not explained why, but some people remained on the ruined world of Aionios, being Shulk, Rex, and the rest of the liberators, who are people from Alrest and Bionis. Shulk, Rex, Linka, Panacea, etc existed as they are simply because they were older when the worlds combined. As for why they don't age, time is standing still in Aionios, so it follows that the liberators would never age as their time is also standing still. This also applies to the Nopon. This explains why Riku survives for a thousand years. If anything, Riku surviving so long is the proof of my theory. This does raise some weird questions though. Why aren't any liberators still alive in the base game? You'd think the city would have some, since two of the liberators were founders. It's possible they simply died in battle. It's also possible that having children removed their ability to be effectively immortal. Also I don't think the scene that took place in Klaus's world was supposed to tie all the Xeno games together. I feel it was just there for easter eggs. While it does reference all the other Xeno games (Gears, Saga, and XCX), there are too many contradictions for those games to slot in within the Xenoblade chronology. And considering Takahashi loves to reuse elements of his previous games in Xenoblade, it's safe to assume these are just easter eggs
The council of 13 and Dimitri Yruiev are direct existances that are heavily involved in the plot of xenosaga though. there is also the fact that the radio IS LABBELD VECTOR INDUSTRIES that is the main company the protagonist from xenosaga worked with. The end cutscne where You see a light falling also lines up Perfectly with xenosagas end credits. if that ISNT ENOUGH Bandai namco and Xenosaga Are DIRECTLY CREDDITED in the credits and the software Description. THis is purely just a xenosaga connection, it is TOO founded in the reality we see before us to be "just easter eggs". I remember when some people said "ontos is not alvis guys you are smoking crack" when xenoblade 2 came out in 2017, and man, did they get egg on their Face.
@@Paradox1012 I'm actually baffled that people who think its just easter eggs are being compared to people who didn't think Ontos was Alvis. It's not comparable because Ontos obviously was Alvis. There was no contradiction in that theory because it was so obvious. There are blatant contradictions between Xenosaga and Xenoblade. The experiment that caused earth to be lost was done by Grimoire Verum, not Klaus. And Dimitri Yuriev was not born on earth. The "reality" is that there are contradictions that are way too blatant, that it obviously can't be anything more than an easter egg, unless they want to make massive retcons. As for why Bandai and Xenosaga are credited, probably because of the use of the Vector logo, which is likely considered the property of Bandai Namco
@@daze3x87 it’s not Easter eggs. They made direct connections. Why bother going the extra mile to get Bamco’s trademark for a logo when they didn’t do it for either the Vector logo or KOS-MOS or T-ELOS for Xenoblade 2?
It was a great conclusion and wrap up for the series, but I'm left wanting so much more. I know why we didn't get a ton of exposition dumps and explainations for what happened to everyone from XC1 and XC2, but I just want some official source to explore that. Maybe a manga or something, because I just love all of these characters
I think I remember the party talking about the ouroboros stone and someone saying it was a gift from Nia (Rex says it must be protected). By extension, Nia probably included the aegis core crystal in the stone or the gauntlet itself.
About that radio: It mentioned July. What happened regarding “Exodus” and “July”? The White Whale left earth. The radio mentioned the term “Saviourite”, and the Saviourites were some of the people that clashed against a force outside the beanstalk in 2 as shown in Chapter 10. And afaik, The Clash happens as Klaus is getting ready to push the big reset button
Xenoblade FR is a great conclusion to the Klaus Saga, but I still need a Xenoblade 0 as a game (visual novel would be great), or an OVA, or maybe a Xenoblade Warriors exploring all the memories stored inside Origin. I have the theory that Xenoblade was an "eternal recurrence" (reboot) of the Xenosaga universe (with itself being a Xenogears reboot), explaining why Vector, Dimitri Yuriev and the savorite/Salvator exist in Klaus' era in a sightly different, yet similar circumstances, and why KOS-MOS and T-elos exist as Blades, with the former having all the data from the Low Orbit Stations (Rhadamanthus, Aeacus and Minos), and Shion is reborn as Astelle in XB2. Also, I think Noah and Mio are personifications of the powers of animus and anima of the original world which was split apart during Klaus' Experiment, hence why they want to reunite and be whole again now that Klaus and Galea are gone. Also, the Ouroboros formed during the battle with Alpha is pretty similar to the original Ares concept art from X. I truly hope they continue X's story arc now that the Klaus arc is finished, as I suspect X was a glimpse of the future of the series following the ending of 1 (humanity and other forms of life walking towards the future hand in hand).
That light traveling through cosmos could also be Elma so Xenoblade Chronicles 4 might lead up to Xenoblade Chronicles X or 4 might be a reimagination of X. I did more or less everything and I'm at 40 hours. :) Also Riku living so long (way past 240 years) could indicate that he might be a nopon sage.
I think Monolith Soft's next move will probably be Xenosaga remasters. They'll have to work it out w/ Bandai Namco. A partnership, or perhaps Nintendo outright buys the publishing rights to that series. (While they're at it, they might as well go all the way with it and call Square Enix about Xenogears.) Takahashi has already stated that Xenoblade as a franchise will continue beyond the Klaus Saga. And I think whatever they have planned for '4' and beyond is gonna involve Xenosaga, and potentially even Xenogears. Those two easter eggs in the cutscene w/ the radio and the post-credit scene were not just done to be cheeky and cute. I think they got something big planned there for the next saga in the series. But in order to tell that story and for players to understand it, they need to bring them up to speed w/ what happened in Xenosaga. So I think remasters of those games are what they have lined up next regarding the Xeno series.
I loved the DLC, I spent like 10 hours on the main campaign and then an additional 10 hours or so (so far) in post-game (superbosses). Glad I also unlocked Shulk & Rex for the main game (although sad they aren't playable in it). The DLC is how I wished the story had been for the main Xenoblade 3 game haha
Any chance this gets a physical release?? Or a physical Xenoblade 3 complete edition with this included on the cart?? I’d bite on either of those options. Also love how Matthew is literally just Fei Fong Wong. Currently playing through this and Xenogears
I'm so confused. I could have sworn they had said that part 4 of the DLC was going to be release around winter 2023. And then with the Pyra/Mythra amiibo coming out in july, I thought the DLC would release in july. But here we are.
back then when the Saga games came out i had to buy a second PS2 with a mod chip to play them because EU did not got them. exept for 2 (1 was just a DVD with the cuteszene´s) and this years later.
One thing that surprised me in the wake of the DLC’s release was the sheer hostility that some people have to the idea that what we see at the end of the credits is the worlds merging together successfully. A lot of people are adamant that it’s just Alrest, implying that the worlds remained separate. To be honest, I think it’s left vague on purpose to allow for either interpretation
1, those trapped in the endless death/rebirth cycle (Keves & Agnus)
2, people born after the merge so they age normally (City folk)
3, Moebius
4, Those who were not absorbed by the merge so time has essentially stopped for their bodies (Shulk, Rex, Melia, Nia, Riku).
@@gormottigrebel9978 shhhhhh it’s called making stuff up as they go
But we literally see rex and shulk age with rex having a goatee and shulk having longer hair tho.
@@jkhg102 They aged BEFORE Origin
somethign that peopel don't bring up alot: while shulk and rex both copied their mentors' looks (Dunban, Vandham, and Zeke specifically) they also untinentionally got hairstyles closer to their greatest enemies Zanza and Malos
Rex looks more like Addam,
The "Philadelphia" reference goes even further than just name dropping a real life location.
Which is likely a misinterpretation of an actual thing done to the ship to make it invisible to radar.
never knew they’d pay homage to my home
Fun fact the Eldrige is full stem to stern with cheese and sliced steak lol
The thing w/ Shulk and Rex not telling Nikol and Glimmer who they really are is:
Nikol and Glimmer are part of the endless cycle of death and rebirth via the Flame Clocks, so they don't understand the concept of families and parents.
That makes me feel much more content with the ending. Still, I would've loved a scene in the future where they discuss it.
This is exactly what I was thinking
When Rex said that there was someone with an eyepatch that he respected he was talking about Zeke not Vandham. Xenoblade 2 Vandham has both of his eyes.

Then who made the other one? Nia I presume?

Melia creates Lucky Seven.
As for why the kids were solders that has to do with the fact that the base game in a sidequest they tell you Mobius only used people under 20 origin data as they were easier to manipulate , mind wipe, brainwash and control then someone with more life experience and since their kids got sucked up into Origin it only makes sense they would pop up as solders sooner or later,
What side quest is it?

@TheManWhoIsNamedDave It's one of Linka's dialogues you can get after you add her to the community.
That really clears up why Shulk and Rex are still around in Matthew's lifetime
Convenient and just pure Fanservice that Shulk and Rex are fine somehow.
Derrick gone from another Xenoblade video? Wild lol. Bummer to see it
Derrick still hasn't finished base 3 after over 9 months, if they waited for him the next full Xenoblade game would have already been released.
Xenoblade Chronicles is complete, they need to do a fresh take of Xenogears game.
@Harold Necmann I mean the Xenoblade trilogy kinda was the fresh rake on Xenogears overall lmao
Good call, I should've thought so
In a heart to heart in future connected, or a sidequest, Kino says that since his wings are weaker than his siblings, Riki went out to find the blast berry for the ether cannon and made it for him.
@@ericbloodsmith5161 alright thanks it’s been so long since I played FC the details were foggy
Pneuma as the ouroboros makes so much sense because the users can merge into a single being just like Pyra and Mythra!
They did explicitly tie it to X too! The radio mentions Project Exodus!
It’s a different project exodus though. In X, it was to escape aliens, which isn’t what destroyed the planet in 1/2. Exodus in this is more of the ships leaving earth aka new Jerusalem to be the humans and universe in xenosaga 1-3
@@Pysnpai Yeah either it's a fun nod to X or they're retconning some of the X lore

@@sentoworf Those essentially mean the same thing, but yes.
Lots a different project exodus and its meant to link it to xenosaga, not x
Saving this video for uhh... 3 years from now when I'll have finished XC3 and Future Redeemed after that 🙃
the fan service in this game is a legit 12/10. i was worried that theyd make it corny but it was perfectly done.
don't forget there's also a possibility Riku is Kino's son since we never see Riki with a blue kid !
17:26 Uh... I think Rex was talking about Zeke here. You know, they guy with the eyepatch?
Zeke literally has both eyes, the eyepatch was an aesthetic choice to hid the Eye of Shining Justice (which he actually has it wasn't just a joke). Vandham was his mentor, Zeke barely taught him a thing as they were comrades and not teacher/student.
@@ZephyrK_ XC2 Vandham didn't "Have a thing for Eyes" as Rex said, that was Zeke, and his Eye of Shining Justice.
Lmao I knew you guys said you’d talk about spoilers, but I was NOT prepared to see xenoblade characters walking around a boring looking suburb. Audible gasp from me.
SPOILERS:
I kinda saw it as Shulk and Rex having children in their own worlds, and their data was uploaded to Origin, so they are reincarnated in the Aionios cycle. Idk if that's the case, but to me it adds some depth to the fathers being reluctant while desperate to connect with them once again
I think that is exactly what happened.
This DLC made this game beyond legendary. The pacing was incredible. I was in awe the entire time I didn’t want it to end. I liked this party way more than the base game.
This literally is the base game in my books, the vanilla XBC3 doesn´t hold a candle in comparison.
i probably like more the base game party, but not by much
@@adriahrin3284 I like the base game party but damn if this DLC party ain’t my stuff and it’s nice to have someone that isn’t 17 and have some grown ass dudes like shulk and Rex I really like A too.
The Aegis Core crystal is in Matthew's weapon because he's Rex's great, great grandson.
Huh
Look up xenosaga end credits for that 4th one. That's KOS-MOS flying towards earth.
There is something that gets added to the base game in the land of challenges after you beat the DLC.
31:21
Riku is actually Kino's son. The little Nopon in Future Connected.
"Dadapon of Riku and Melly once traveling companions."
Kino would fit this, plus Kino's got the colors that go with Riku more.
Technically…A is Rex’s in-law?
I thought Rex’s lost eye was a nod to Zeke and not Vandham, Xeno2 vandham had both eyes in tact
It was a reference when vandham take a peek on Pyra's thighs
Also i think its implied that just like Pneuma is in the Gauntlet, Logos/Malos is in N's sword of the end. Which is why ot has putple energy and when both are used together it actuvates the real power of Ouroboros.
I see nobody mention that Matthew and Na'el are Rex decendents, as is implied that Mio (Matthew grand grand mother) is the Child that Nia has with Rex
The affinity progress is just a perfect system. It lets you grind just enough to be balanced, but without feeling like grinding.
26:46 Actually I think Black Mountains reference Power of Jin
Hey, you guys know that it’s not the end of Xenoblade, this is the end of the claus arc
She is also the vocalist of the ending theme song of xenogears.
I feel like that was intentional and it's really cool.
Playing it right now and it great for fans and long time Xeno-franchise fans! Loving it and can wait what Monolite is cooking!
Hopefully a x remaster
Yeah me too, with online included!
@@gilmercurial1 x is too big for switch sadly
The secquence i believe is actually trying to conmect all the games and im hoping for continuation. When they say phuladelphia class ship its a connection to the ship from Xenogears. Project Exodus is also from Xenoblade X. As is the coalition government and number of ships and the month of July.
Also Dmitri Yuriev is one of the more important antagonists in Xenosaga Episode 3.
This is such a winner. I know what I'm doing for this weekend!! Thanks guys. So appreciated!
matthew is my new fav xenoblade protagonist
Just a correction for you boys, Nopon have similar lifespans to Humans/Homs, its just the Nopon sages that seem to live forever.
@@babyjiren9676 Less multiverse moreso the possibility of galaxies/dimensions outside of the Milky Way.
26:33 It's funny, because half the party of the DLC can be traced back to Rex. Over half even, when you finish the main story.
Glimmer and Mio/M being Rex's daughters
Noah/N being his son in law
Ghondor being his grandson.
Matthew being his great great grandson.
Not to mention 3 of the houses in the city in the main game all being descendants of him, 4 if the theory of Nikol and Glimmer getting together is true.
Rex's bloodline really shine through in this game.
More than half? I'm pretty sure it's just Glimmer and Matthew (moreso the Noah connection but yeah)
From the story to the visuals AND the music this game gives you all the feels!!
@@Manavine Xenopon Chronicles will explore the Nopon Sage in depth
This story never truly ends...
I think Glimmer & Nikol had enough screen time for their development especially when they teamed to fight Rex & Shulk
Rex' eye patch is mirroring Zeke, not Vandham. The Vandham he knew in XC2 never wore an eye patch
Will have to come back later when i finish the game. About to finish chapter 4, so I'm real close.
I think I remember the party talking about the ouroboros stone and someone saying it was a gift from Nia (Rex says it must be protected). By extension, Nia probably included the aegis core crystal in the stone or the gauntlet itself.
About that radio:
It mentioned July.
DLC story is short. They could’ve added more. The lore is so rich.
That light traveling through cosmos could also be Elma so Xenoblade Chronicles 4 might lead up to Xenoblade Chronicles X or 4 might be a reimagination of X. I did more or less everything and I'm at 40 hours. :)
Also Riku living so long (way past 240 years) could indicate that he might be a nopon sage.
Man, I hope they get remasters, or even just ports would also be fine. Xenosaga 3 should not cost a mortgage.
I think the future of the series might be Xenoblade X with Xenosaga content and connections, but I do not know.
I think XenoSaga remasters are next before the Xenoblade 4 which will take place after the events of Saga and Blade trilogies.
Just finished it this morning and i was floored top tier masterpiece ❤🎉
Any chance this gets a physical release?? Or a physical Xenoblade 3 complete edition with this included on the cart?? I’d bite on either of those options. Also love how Matthew is literally just Fei Fong Wong. Currently playing through this and Xenogears
Hope you have fun Xenogears is really really good and you will see alot of similarities to blade 3
I doubt it honestly, this one doesn't work as a solo game like Torna did. It spoils the entire series and notably the entirety of 3
I'm so confused. I could have sworn they had said that part 4 of the DLC was going to be release around winter 2023. And then with the Pyra/Mythra amiibo coming out in july, I thought the DLC would release in july. But here we are.
I am expecting the ending cutscene being the arrival of Elma. It could also simply be the ark (Origin) returning to the surface of the planet.
It is soo funn going back to this video knowing that Fiora was Lucky7
back then when the Saga games came out i had to buy a second PS2 with a mod chip to play them because EU did not got them. exept for 2 (1 was just a DVD with the cuteszene´s) and this years later.
Matthew's voice is from South London because he comes from THE CITY.
