The car does not have the chassis nor suspension for that. It was built for burnouts only meaning there is no load on the chassis and suspension.
Watching Sam crack open the throttle and that smile is worth a million dollars! So glad toast is getting a second chance

He’s seriously like a kid in a candy store!! They’re keeping him young for sure and that’s awesome. 🤘
So who is Sam?
Sam's grin is contagious, any time he's smiling i get a dorky grin on my face.
The smile on Sam's face while manually blipping the throttle on Toast is priceless. Love the channel and the daily uploads. Mint👌
That's when I liked the video lol

I bet if you give Sam half a chance he'd be behind that wheel recycling tyres😂
I’m still waiting on a new car that will be called Uncle Sam
Tip from an old methanol racer. When you are going to park it for a week or more, drain most of the tank, add some motorcycle 2 cycle oil into a gallon or so of methanol and run it till it stops. The oil stops blockages and corrosion. It will smoke a little when first fired.
We ran full methanol in our sprint cars. We wouldn't race/rip until up to temperature because the piston tolerances were not tight enough and would have fuel dump into the oil. One time we got on it before up to temperature and had a massive oil/fuel-oil mix push out or vents. Make sure your engine is up to temperature and burns all the fuel out of the oil. (170-190F) Our engine's pistons would grow .008-.010 from cold to operating temp. Depending on your build, this may be an issue for the oil/fuel push out the vent.
Commenting for algorithm.
Yeah that was definitely a cold rip I bet
As someone who is completely inexperienced, this seems to be a very logical reason why the oil is like that
100% agree, also based on our sprint car and midget experience. Turn the fuel down when you're idling, especially cold. I've never seen fuel milked that bad and I've milked my share, lol. An engine heater would be a good investment too.
@@gibbersification Yep. Running it with the fuel valve open before it's up to temp, and/or being way too fat will do that. It's hard on stuff.
Not normally a fan of Underglow lights but toast needs a bunch of LEDs so you can see him through the smoke.

This channel has the best crew in RUclips. Not a single person is annoying or clueless. Everyone has value and a purpose to the Channel. Everyone has great personalities also. A idea for the cletus2 channel you guys could do some more technical or DIY videos. Definitely agree, seeing some more technical/in-depth stuff on the second channel would be really cool!

Just a note on operating a Thermal Imager: Find your hottest part of the Head/Manifold/Block you are worried about using "Auto Temp" mode on the scanner. Use that High number and set your scanner to Manual Mode. Set your max temp range manually to the high number and then scan the rest of your object. Look for dynamic thermal changes and carry on. Simple right? Ha ha, doing it for 30 years and realize I can't help you without being there. I tried.
That actually makes perfect sense. Look at the temp delta rather than the actual "temp"
I can explain it for you but I can’t understand it for you😎
@@2005StangMan Yes, look at the thermal profile instead of spot temps. High/Low and average temps all considered. Not as easy on Diesel engines though.
Made sense to me, man. Auto ranging can really screw with you if you're looking for temp variations while you're moving the camera. If you have the camera on a tripod and the "target" is stationary it can work fine, but as soon as you start moving the camera around you start getting issues.
@@52Ford that's why I use black and white, but I also read the spot temp as well. But very valid point. Also watch out for shiny stuff, doesn't read worth a damn unless you spray paint it flat black.

You guys should do a dyno day and figure out the total horsepower number of the fleet! It’d be crazy to see

Hard yes!!
I’m guessing 4,683,225,469 llamathrusts….give or take a donkeywaddle. 😬
Not sure their dyno at the shop would work with toast would it? Looks like it would just slip and spin on the rollers maybe. Hub dyno might be better right?
@@warrenmichael918 he has a hub dyno on order, it's just taking some time to get it.

I'm with you, if jackstand had a bit more camera time he is funnier than George, and that's saying something!
You should have a 1 to 4 micron filter after the pump. Also, the liquids coming in steel can's are usually not meeting the cleanliness specs, from a millwright. We have a pump/filter cart to transfer Hydraulic/lubrication oil from barrels to our tanks because they're usually so bad. Also methanol attacks some types of aluminum(like the tank?), so rebuildable/cleanable filters would be the best.
I’ve gotta say fellas, I’m absolutely lovvvvvvve watching ole Sam get the attention I believe he deserves and more importantly watching him living his best life with you guys. You guys are good dudes cleetus and gang. Keep up the awesome as always work!!

@@Grey86 Do It For Ed
Just a rule of thumb we have to blow out lines after every run on the dragster and especially when parked off season
Buy a cheap ultra sonic cleaner to put the nozzles in. I do my methanol stuff weakly. Five minutes in the cleaner, blow them out and good to go. If sits more than a week it needs done.
True that, meth/alky life, and run marine 93 in the system to lube the orings
I'd be worried about that foamy oil. Only ever seen that with water intrusion - especially possible if the methanol is "washing" past the rings on cold starts.
Agreed! That seems concerning
Aerated oil will destroy an engine quickly, it's really not good. They could try and pull a vacuum on the oil resevoir and get it to de-foam but I would just dump it. Not worth a 50k engine.
It's doing that cuz it still has at least one dead hole. You can hear it clear as day. Mark my words, toast is still hurt.
I love Sam's little clap that he does when happy! He's such a genuine guy! LETS GET HIM HIS OWN SHIRT!!
It needs a classic coke bottle on it. (Coke in a bottle has real sugar in it, where as can or plastic has nutra sweet....in case anyone was wondering 😁)
Can and plastic bottle Coke uses HFCS, not Nutrasweet. Unless it’s diet.
Needs the front clip that’s one of the best parts of a third gen
Yes Sam!!! gotta love that smile when he got at rev it up after the re-fuel... Gotta say that the addition of Sam has brought the classiness level up around the shop. Wish I could have this type of retirement. What a legend .
I love seeing Sam on the channel he looks like he’s having a hell of a time around cars
I think this needs to be a full bodied nice burnout car. Notice most of the Australian cars like Killer B are all nicely painted/wrapped because it shows how sure of themselves they are to do a burnout and not put the car into a wall. Put the panels back on an re wrap it.
That, and get rid of the bumper bars at the back. No idea why they didn't get something heat resistant molded after the original bumper. Same with Neighbor.
Right. Wall taps lose you points down here.
They did say they need to get a front clip back on it.
It's a thing we do in Australia. Make our race cars look like show cars. Most of them are built very neatly
@@anthonydars1237 you guys r awesome
@@Toxic2T Cheers 😊
Get you an ultra sonic cleaner with brass cleaner for ammo and throw your injectors in the mix everytime it will sit more than 30 days. Been running mechanical injection for a long time. Also run a heater on your oil tank and it will evaporate all the methanol in your oil. Saves money in long run.
I swear out of all the car stuff I've ever done or watched, nothing will ever compare to the sound of a screw blown big block on alcohol.
It's the feel of it, not the sound for me. It makes your whole chest just vibrate.
Pretty sure that’s a roots not a screw blower? 🤔
@@lockatar Yeah, it’s a Roots 12 or 14/71 or something big like that.

Meth anal? You mean methanol maybe
He said - yeah, that's typical methanol bubbles in the froth, like he sees them every day
I'm so glad you guys stayed with toast. He's what got me hooked on the channel
1 pass or 1 burnout and all that finetuning, and all those precise measurements will all vibrate loose and you are back at square 1! LOVE IT!
Might need to take it from 3/4 clapped to about 1/2 clapped, and I think Toast will turn out perfect.
Needs something to cover up that naked front end. They should take a page from a race car's book and just have a removable body on there
LOST IN THE COMMENTS: "Any" time the car sits, because of the nature of Methanol, the engine has to be run on gasoline before storage. Reach out to a Indycar team to have Tye shown thier portable fuel kits with "quick connects"
running a mechanical injected blower engine on gas is really a no go, however draining the fuel system, blowing it out and fogging it with wd40 is a must.
@@Sharkey_t you're only running long enough to get the meth out of the lines at idle 10-15 seconds tops
@@STARSHIPTROOP its not so much the running on gas part, its that idling it on gas only cleans out the idle circuit. a mechanical injection system with port nozzles will idle on the hat nozzles only, the port check valve will open once the rpm increases (due to the increase in fuel pressure). the high speed circuits also wont open at idle.
when i worked on blown alcohol stuff, after racing was done for the weekend we would drain the fuel tank completely, pull the fuel line off the top of the fuel pump and fog the pump with wd40. likes were all taken off the barrel valve and everything was blown out and fogged. never had problems with clogged nozzles or fuel lines failing.
@@Sharkey_t In Indycar before the car is loaded in the trailer the mech side is sent back through to the return and the fuel lines(eng side) cleared of meth , you can smell when it happens. Question is the gasoline weight enough to force the meth up out of the high side lines & if not . These guys need a system thats easy enough to use. This is like the 3-rd-4th time we've seen them w/ issues because of sitting too long. I want to see these guys succeed as much as anyone else.

Dry sump vent has to be 5 to 10 inches ABOVE the oil tank, and usually 3 ft away, with the ability to drain back to the tank.

Here is Australia we take all the suspension out and weld a metal bar in where the springs so, we call it solid rear end, makes the car tip in a lot harder and goes better
Please set it up for drag. Just once. We all want to see it.
Got my vote
That would be a completely new setup...
Bro it would need a whole different rear suspension for that. No to mention there's no way that thing is going down the strip without a full cert funny car cage.
@@strawsparky33 exactly
@@strawsparky33 Toast has a basic cage, folks just need to compare it to the cage Tye built for the Blazer… or the one in mullet, and. Toast doesn’t have a full frame like the Blazer.
Then as you said… rear end, which they need to rebuild the suspension so they don’t get wheel skip like it has at the moment which can snap axles. Some full built burnout cars here in Oz run 4-link rear ends jus t like a drag car.
So ready to be at the freedom factory watching toast absolutely ROAST a set of good ole Nitto tires🇺🇸🇺🇸
listening to a big block idle on max volume will 100% give you an eargasm. *I love hearing Toast function without millions of issues*
We ran a rubber hose that wrapped around the inside top of the tank that kept our catch can clean. Basically added a baffle which is what it needed
Glad you kept Toast alive . This channel isn’t about quitting !
Great vid its awesome to see toast back up and running i love that car , can't wait to see it in action again . Need to shorten the differential and tub it this will bring the rear wheels inside the body line of the car so when the tyres blow they wont destroy body panels or trim pieces . 👌✌️
They need to rebuild the rear suspension anyway so they might as well shorten it at the same time.
Just love to see Sam reving that bad boy! He looks like it makes him feel like a kid again.
a rear end gear change and mullet would provide plenty of content and fun at Bonneville! you guys ROCK!
Needs a full rear suspension rebuild, not just a gear change.
I've never seen oil milked that bad. That's extremely hard on bearings, and everything else. Turn your fuel down any time it's idling, especially cold.
14:40 you need more wider front Tyr wide as bro for extra grip help hold back and for more stable under steering throwing it around and run skinny tyrs on back
That shot when the smoke is clearing on Toast surrounded by black lines. Dang.
Okay, I am probably alone here, but the U on the blower hat is killing me! It’s about a quarter inch higher than the SA, and my OCD is going crazy! 😂
Can’t unsee this now 😐😭
Why would you point it out no we can't unsee it
THATS the part of this car setting off your OCD? 😂
Definitely not the only one. Was bugging me while watching the video as well!
Great….now that I’ve seen it
Might be my favorite car in the fleet, if no reason other than is still intimidates him to get into. That and the engine is worth 100 time more than the rest of the car
More than likely. Its a Australian built engine and nothing is cheap in Australia.
@@whynotthisname2019 Not just that. This engine is severely over engineered so it is consistent and as reliable as it can be. Unlike similar engines in high end drag cars that get a full rebuild at the end of a season as a minimum and don’t run a cooling system at all.
@@scraverX awesome
If toast had half the suspension stuff I have he would be ripping. solid LCA's /panhard, SLP tubular Tq arm. high quality springs and shocks. that alone will make a world of diffrence. glad to see toast is back!
Cleetus your one hell of a guy! The way you had Sam burp it again once you put fuel in it was awesome! Your parents definitely raised you right.
Cleetus knows he has individual EGT sensors he can read on the Holley right? No need for thermal imaging. I'd pay to see Sam take Toast in the burnout box!
I'm sure he knows, because Mullet has those. But I don't think they put those on Toast, I could be wrong though.
@@2005StangMan You can see the bungs and wiring on each runner.
@@2005StangMan Per-cylinder EGT’s was a requirement of the engine builder (NoGAS) to continue working with Cleet over long distance. Especially since during Covid the only way they could communicate was electronically and sending data back and forth.
Worth noting as well, that unlike the system on Mullet they have, in the past had difficulty getting logs off Toast.
quicker to use the temp gun sometimes
Amazing collection of toys. Glad to see you put your fire suit on. Sometimes you are a little lax in the safety department. Especially when water is involved. Great Entertainment!
100% agree on this. You NEVER can afford to get lax about safety on a blown methanol engine.
When you dealing with methanol you would be a fool to get in that car without your fire suit. I've been wondering if they have the proper equipment to contain a methanol fire. Can't use water on it ....
@@masterbates7016 - Honestly they should have a fire extinguisher out and right there whenever you start a car on methanols. ESPECIALLY the first time the engine is started after being out of the car. Always a high chance of leaks . Especially given Garrett’s history of forgetting to connect something…
@@danmyers9372 totally agree. They you be taking even more precautions. They could lose everything if that car goes up. Coming from a firefighter who worked races with methanol cars every Friday those methanol fires are a different beast.
When are you going to put massive tyres on toast and get it on the strip????
Seriously they need a big tire ripper
Blazer is starting to head that way, but It won’t be big tyre.
Not surprised it had some blocked nozzles it was sitting for a good couple months while they first decided what to do and then opted to rebuild her.
Also you can see the flex in the body raven when they crack it just a little.
SO GOOD! To hear the ol Toastmaster back poppin on all 8!! Cannot wait to see it when you get it all ironed out!! KUDOS GUYS!! 👏
I love all the cars on the channel, but Toast has been my favorite from day 1. I'm so happy to see it back on the channel, and not in the crusher.
Hell Yeah Brother!!! Shout out from Australia!!!
Would be cool to have the exhaust routed like neighbors.
Toast needs an electronic fuel primer circuit like fuel injected aircraft engines - Continental or Lycoming with Bendix... A couple of blips of the primer before and/or during cranking and you're running. No gatorade squirt bottle needed.
Crews for burnout cars here in Australia use one of those little hand sprayers that you pump up with the nozzle set to stream and only a low amount of pressure.
I used to work on a TA/FC car in IHRA back in the day.. Heat soak was big on prep for racing between rounds. Getting your head around bypass valves and related stuff on fuel system is almost oppisite to normal thinking.
Also we used to take lines off of fuel system and spray WD40 into them to keep injectors/pumps lubed/moistness out between races.
We also used Lucas Oil Upper Cylinder Lubricant to help out.. Just some thoughts...
Does nobody hear the slight knock when he turns the phone a certain way?
Frothy oil is one of the main things you're trying to avoid by going with a dry sump, that and obviously oil starvation, but frothy oil is hell on bearings since air is a shit lubricant. I don't think I'd be dismissing that frothy/milky oil so quickly, if that's what the engine is running inside it's taking excessive wear.
Last time I saw frothy oil was the last day a 2jz ran.
Oil on alcohol always looks milky pretty quick. If I had to guess they didn’t get the engine up to temp before stepping on it and fuel blew past the rings. Also need to purge the fuel system at the end of every race day.

Thank you so much for fixing this car, my favorite in the fleet. Didnt deserve the trash heap
Wheel hoppin, oil frothin, lean poppin about to be rod knockin after tire poppin.
Now jus imagine that type of engine in the blazer, 10 inch slicks or radials with a 6 foot wheelie bar in the back........ 6 seconds all day
I think the next burnout car should be a classic. Like a 69 caddy with those giant fins on the back. Or maybe a 30's Chrysler. Something completely off the map.
The way that car rolls back before it goes forward is always going to throw me and others off!
Getting the motor up to temp, then leaving the oil caps and breather lines off can save the milked oil sometimes. In that case it's too far gone.
You need to put some type of echo location system on Toast so you can see where the walls are in the midst of all that freedom smoke !
No mate, no you don’t! 🇦🇺🇦🇺

Sam’s smile after he reved it. Priceless.
Just a thought on the oil tank, cut that futting out and make one that when you weld it back in it turns up and has a screw in extension thats about 1/2” from the cap. That way you can whip it without an oil slurry piling into the vent but it still vents from the highest point
10:07 that FLIR camera is so nice to have around. It's not cheap, but totally worth it when it makes no sense to screw around being cheap.

Ya gotta love a throttle whack on a blown methanol engine. Love the Aussie burn out combo of very high powered engine with tall gears. Watching Toast cruise by the Ripsaw you have to ask- "does anyone have more fun than Garrett's gang?" I don't think so. Freedom!

You might want to try using upper cylinder lubricant made by Redline it's good for the fuel pump and it's good for not letting the fuel crust up
So breaks are good. Engine runs. Catch can and suspension next but it rips. 👍
Not gunna lie, I could listen to toast idling all day, that's just music to my ears. Glad to see it get back up and running 😎
