Great DIY project. What about just letting the water run along the trenches? Top watering is good, but usually, you are only hitting the top, but the ground is not saturated .Not criticism, just a observation.

The first system using the pumping machine consumes a lot of fuel ...but there is a simple and cost effective means of irrigation system using the pipe line.
In my country this is normal so I don't know how you want it to look again. No one in my country will say what you are saying now esp in your use of 'dirty'....

@fuzygh1145 yes ..u will use the water pump but the volume will be low therefore it reduces your fuel consumption by 40 to 50 %
