    Border View Farms is a mid-sized family farm that sits on the Ohio-Michigan border. My name is Nathan. I make and edit all of the videos posted here. I farm with my dad, Mark and uncle, Phil. Our part-time employee, Brock, also helps with the filming. 1980 was our first year in Waldron where our main farm is now. Since then we have grown the operation from just a couple hundred acres to over 3,000. Watch my 500th video for a history of our farm I filmed with my dad.
    I started making these videos in the fall of 2019 as a way to help show what I do on a daily basis as a farmer. Agriculture is different from any other industry and I believe the more people that are showing their small piece of agriculture, helps to build our story. We face unique challenges and stressful situations but have some of the most rewarding payoffs in the end. I get to spend everyday doing what I love, raising my kids on the farm, and trying to push our farm to be better every year. I hope that I can address questions or concerns that you might have about farms and agriculture.
    I hope you enjoy my content and ask questions as you have them. I do my best to answer anything I can. Thanks for watching!
    I appreciate you subscribing to my channel and liking my videos. You can also find me on Facebook borderviewfarms and on Instagram @borderviewfarms

    Ah yes. Your dad had the bright idea! That screen oughtta keep the nasty stuff away from your suction line! Dont wanna starve the pump! Every once in a while when running smaller sprinklers i pump out of a retention pond and it'll pull rocks in that get caught in the nozzles of the sprinklers and i'd have to shut it off and clean out the heads! just taking the nozzle out and running the pump for a minute to flush out all of the rocks or debris. I do have a screen on my suction hose, but these rocks are small and can get caught in the spreader or range nozzles of my impacts. Of course using the big guns they dont get clogged due to the big nozzles! Thanks for sharing! Your gun gets good range in that field! This is a hobby for me i've loved irrigation since i was little, I was born in 78 so as a kid i got to see a lot of the fast reverse nelson big guns running, those were my favorite!

    Hey Nathan, your idea of putting a screen upstream, blocking some more of that debris also, but your dad made a pretty cool diverter around the pipe, but if it starts acting up again I would put your 💡 idea to give it a try 🙂

    • @alexmikhael5061
      @alexmikhael5061 Год назад

      ...would be prolly good thing to put a 6 inch or so even just a small amount, DIVERTER up at the upstream dugout point, just to SHUVE the stuff a little THAT WAY JUST ENUF.... well even if it was screen it would get clogged up and then become a WALL in the water... soo too big of a wall will be issue too (was the point stuck in there somplace lol)
      but I also suggest SCREEN2.0 include a little thingie upstream ;)

    The definition of what a river or creek is is VERY localized. When we were in Iowa, there was. River that I could walk across ( on stones) without getting my feet wer. If memory serves me correctly, it was 3 to 5 feet wide. Here in Charleston SC, there is a creek that ocean going pleasure boats can sail up.

    Nathan, when I send you a link, information, or maybe a suggestion, I obviously have no idea what you have, or have not seen, heard, or know about, so when you're disgusted about something else, I don't think you should tell myself, or any other of your subscribers, "yeah, I know, don't send me any links" in a dismissive tone.

    Have you ever taken a water sample out of that river/crick to see how much extra nitrogen, boron etc that you are adding? We have a well we pump from that supplies all the nitrogen we need just thru irrigation due to added nitrogen being pushed down thru the root zone and back into the water table.

That trailer during our conversation this morning is already in Texas heading across the boarder direct to Guatemala. No fuel stops nessary... L0L.
