THANK YOU THANK YOU Dr. Mike and Brother Jared. What an honor to train. Been implementing what I learned and my body has began to shift and change. Thank you to all the comments in here. Very very grateful for the support and the encouragement. Just so thankful. Yes... I'll be doing a show soon. I have learned so much from you both. If you haven't gotten the RP App... GET IT. I used it daily and love what it does for me.
A big shout out to all the family, friends, mentors, coaches and general influences of this man along his journey. Something was definitely done right along the way. 👍
Especially how they lean in to the pain too, seeing a guy that big struggling to get a few knee push ups really give me some sense that I might not be training wrong after all
What a gental giant. "Goly" has me giggling. 😂 This man is a treasure. He is such a humble dude for what he has accomplished. Dr. Mike and Son have great chemistry with him too! Love to see it
I absolutely love how Setema takes the cues from Jared and Dr. Mike and really digs hard to get those sets done in RP style. He's humble and absolutely gets it. And I always love how Dr. Mike and Jared constantly emphasize "I don't care how many reps you get, only that you do them right. Thanks to these scientific workout videos, I feel I've been able to improve my own workouts, every week still losing fat, while gaining muscle, and I'm super sore, but still able to recover in time for my next workout. Thank you thank you thank you!!!
@RudolfMaister420 you are absolutely correct, and I appreciate you pointing that out. In my haste, I missed that oversight and have made a fool of myself. Thanks to you, I have edited and corrected my comment, so it now shows the correct word, "cues". Homophones on a Monday, y'all. They've got me trippin'.
I wish this channel was around in my early 20s. Would have saved me some pain. Kids now are beyond privileged to have access to this. Glad I have found it though- has completely revitalized my training. Thanks Mike.
14:43 dispite Filming Jared is aware of his surroundings and automatically gets out of the way to let someone through! So humble and polite! You guys seem like such Nice people! Love the videos 😊
I don't think I've ever commented on RUclips (or it's been a while), but loved this video. I did Tae Kwon Do for years with Setema's mom training me and Setema would come to class occasionally and us kids (we were young teenagers, like 12-16 year olds) thought he was superhuman. So happy to see he's still doing well and still seems just as kind and happy as I remember him. Good work, and thanks for having him on Dr. Mike!
Doing reps like this at 43 has changed my training. I'm no longer having as much elbow pain and am starting to feel better pumps. After 25+ years I've finally learned that heavy weights have a place, but as you get older you have to focus on the rep quality and making lighter weight as difficult as possible to continue gaining muscle without getting hurt.
Setema Gali is such a force of awesome positivity! I was a master coach for Freemotion and he came to inspire us on a global retreat. It was such a great experience.
It's cool seeing the difference in attitude between 'juiceheads' and someone like Setema. Man put everything into it with the best attitude. What a legend.
@@bullinvginshop9011 they are not even the strongest race? if you put strength/ size ratio in consideration asian people are the strongest. if it’s overall strength eastern europeans/ germanic tribes are by far the strongest people. but yeah, polynesians are super strong and athletic. i think the culture and the good natural food are reasons for this.
His ability to dominate these techniques upon first instruction was so impressive. You could see when he hadn’t don’t anything like that, but within a split second of receiving a queue, he’d apply it. Amazing. That’s a world class pro athlete.
I've been training for over 13 years. I just recently came across Dr.Mikes channel and have implemented his training style. I just finished my 1st week, and all of my weights are significantly down. However, my body is sore in places that haven't been sore since my newbie days. DR.Mike, I simultaneously hate you and love you at the same time. It really feels good to have the gym challenging again without having to keep throwing more and more weight on the bar! Edit.... one of the best things about implementing Dr.Mikes training style.....since you are forced to use weight that is alot lighter than you are used to, your joints LOVE you.
Mannn, what I would give to have a training session with the Doc. All of the tips and techniques I’ve been implementing from these videos has been making all the difference. And I love seeing these videos with someone as receptive and willing to learn and put in the work as this guy. This is what I come to see!
I loved how Setema said "golly" and "jeez" every time he came off a hard set but it wasn't until the very last set when Dr. Mike pushed for that one last rep did he actually say "SHIT!"... LOL! Such an amazing effort by that man!
Thanks for putting us on to an absolutely wonderful human being Dr. Mike!! This dude literally radiates positive vibes and it's no coincidence he's a Super Bowl champ. As a 27yr old I look at this almost 50 year old and think to myself that's a man who's acquired all the qualities I seek through self discipline all the while remaining grounded and having an air of humility to him that cannot be overlooked.
i discovered this channel like 4 or 5 months ago, that chuckle of realization after he does the deep stretch and pause at the eccentric where you start to think "wow this is hitting different.." i went through the same thought process, love that feeling so much.
Definitely one of the best workouts I’ve seen on this channel. Loved the mindset, energy and effort, and the talk about being “coachable”. A mandatory watch for my teen sons. Thank you
This is one of your best training videos. What Dr. Mike said at the end is the real deal: pro athletes tend to leave their ego at the door and grab every opportunity they can to learn, adapt and evolve. Mr. Setema is a perfect example of this. Please, bring more pro athletes to this channel. And bring Gali back for one of your infamous leg sessions!
Jesus christ, I live for these big guys using lighter weights and getting totally destroyed. Tells me that in my own training, the weight doesn't mean shit if I don't train hard with good technique.
Yes and no remember they are training him in a bodybuilder style workout where the main focus is hypertrophy, whereas if you are training for strength the weight really does matter. At the end of the day tho genetics technique frequency consistency diet and rest are what matters most
idk because I lift heavy enough to feel the pump. Next day my chest always feels bigger and when i go to the gym the day after rest day, I still feel how the muscles are tired during my warmup. I don't like light weights because it requires slow pace + pauses and basically heavy lifting gives the same amount of stress to build muscles.. and it's more fun
Great watch!! “alot of people can try hard, and alot of people can do good technique but if you do both at the SAME TIME, THATS THE REAL CHALLENGE” -Dr Mike
Wow, beautiful episode. Inspiring to see someone so knowledgeable also so willing to learn. Also awesome to see you acknowledge that. Bravo all around.
I've incorporated the tips from these videos in my daily lifting routine. They have made a great improvement to my workouts. I'm noticing the differences in my fatigue levels and changes to my physique. Great stuff. I'm glad I found this channel. I've been sharing these videos with my buddies, too. They like them as well.
im so lucky i found this channel. Dr.Mike i owe to you all the progress and gains i'm making every week ! I did my push workout today. Always do the deficits push ups for the finisher. 🤘🏻
16:34 Love to see how he's repeating cues to himself. These cues are the kind that your body will tell you to avoid, so it's really interesting to see an athlete prime themselves for the discomfort.
I’ve been using the lat pull down bar for a few workouts now on tricep push downs. I feel validated seeing this guy using it and being tall. It feels so much so better
Incredible learning experience by seeing how things should be done when you’re seriously training. My 64 year old body can do a lot more. Harder for females in some ways but no excuses. This was so helpful.
Amazing how a powerful person like that can be humbled when tempo is manipulated. The body doesn’t know how much weight ur lifting, it only knows how hard ur working to lift the weight. Excellent job guys.
You guys at RP deserve all the flowers you're currently getting, been putting in the most work for a while now & the lifting landscape is slowly improving 😇 never stop posting Mike 😂
So my homepage suggested hypertrophy coach ultimate leg day workout video I started it and quickly realized I didn't like the layout, music, honestly even his voice. Was happy to see this video posted exactly what I needed while do my facet cardio. Ty guys!

I know scott the video guy gets paid to edit these but I would honestly watch the full unedited version. I like hearing dr. Mike and Jared have normal conversations with these guys because a lot of times mike drops knowledge that I needed to hear without even necessarily intending to. And watching these guys critique form is so helpful because their cueing is so on point. Every time they say chest up or proud chest the dude needed the cue even though he’s already a beast. Gotta be fun although brutal to train next to them.
In my late 50's, and have been back to training for about 8 months after an absence for more than a decade. I've evolved my training to include more lighter weight, slower eccentric movements and noticing substantial changes in my physique.
