I still have that album, but it's on a CD. I don't currently have a working CD player. I was able to download it on Amazon Prime Music. I was visiting a college, just about 25 years ago, & y'all performed there. I fell in love with your music. I just gave that first album a listen a couple of weeks ago. Forty Acres is also a terrific album. I'm now an atheist, but I still love Caedmon's Call. Good music remains good music! And CC is terrific music!
Lucky I didn’t do what most people do when they out grow their current musical tastes..they get rid of their cd’s?! I kept mine..the cases might be broken a bit..but the music is fine. I still love singing to them old songs. Which has encouraged me to start using my voice for God more; and start writing song poems for the Lord. Now the Lord is cranking them out like wild fire… pray they get used for his glory one day?
I'm an atheist now, but I still have mine. I still sing along with my CD. Good music remains good, and this album really brought me hours of joy. It's uplifting. The harmonies are fun to sing along with. I wish you a lot of joy in your endeavors with your poems.

I am excited to participate, but have a very important question. Are you all still believers in the Gospel of Jesus Christ? Is it true that Derek walked away from the faith and proclaims he is an atheist? I don’t want to believe that but have grieved over that news and certainly prayed. What gifted musicians. What anointed music and lyrics!! When I recently heard the song, ”I Will Boast No More,” not even a well-known CC song, I wept in worship. I totally understand what you are saying Dana. I wonder that too. Jesus rescued me 22 years ago and I’m still placing my faith in him. I get overwhelmed when people walk away. I can’t. Where would I go?

I think it is important that you maintain your faith and pray for theirs. But, I know some of the best Christian songs I have heard were not necessarily sung by devout Christians. I love Breaking Benjamin, I love His Eye is on the Sparrow from Sister Act 2 sung by Lauryn Hill, and I love other secular singer's versions of Christian songs such as the Pentatonix. I truly believe music is a gift from above and we can find God in the music itself and just enjoy a good (God given) voice singing it.
I saw an interview a few years ago with Derek Webb in which he proclaimed he was an atheist. Has his beliefs changed or does he still hold to that view? With all due respect, it would be strange for an atheist to sing “Hope to Carry On” given that from an atheistic perspective the universe is doomed to extinction and ultimate death due to the second law of thermodynamics. In contrast, As followers of Christ we have hope in him thanks to the historical reality of his resurrection. The historical case for this event is solid and compelling.
It is their private lives is not that important. Listening to this music still connecting you to Jesus. It won't give you evil spirits although one of the musicians may still be an atheist. Dont be such a religious funatics freak you know. I am a theological master student as well and I don't wanna be that kind of religious wannabe.

Maybe my favorite band of all time. I was a Guild member for a few years. Never got to go to the concert, unfortunately. Derek, I know your life has had many ups and downs and you have had somewhat of a circuitous spiritual journey that has led in many different directions. But I’m the same. I loved Caedmons Call of the past! I was really thankful for them. And I loved Derek. But he seems to have strayed so far from our basic Christian beliefs. I do not condemn him, but it was a shock to see him in full drag! And the name, the Jesus HYPOTHESIS??? No, I pray for my brother, but I have to stand for what my Savior died for! He has drifted! I have serious doubts as I pray for him.

I played your songs almost every week in college at my local branch of Campus Crusade for Christ. I still follow the Lord. Imagining you saying that to me while smiling and winking at me doesn’t feel great. I hope you enjoy the reunion concert though.
It breaks my heart how the music industry hardens hearts, I live caedmens call, and I pray that they will find a repentant heart in the precious name of Jesus! I was in a Christian Band in the early 90’s and we were in the verge of a breakthrough with a label, and I saw how the guys were changing, I chose Jesus and my family over what we were becoming, they are all broken on drugs and broken families. Horrible.

Derek is living proof you can sing all the worship songs until your blue in the face but that means nothing. Christian singers check your egoes. Real followers of the Masters do not lift you up. If your not a servant of the Lord, if Jesus isnt in your heart, if you truly have not died to self and live for Christ, your act will eventually die. The real worldly you will come out and you will be unable to contend for Christ because you are not truly a contender and never were. Fakers fake just like Judas did.
