    My exact technique when I wear my wigs. I suck at cornrows so I opted for this instead. Been doing this for years. Faster, flatter, less tension, & takedown is a lot easier then cornrows. I use Doo Gro oil in the parts 2x a week. Hair is now bra strap length & healthy even though it's bleached.

      @@justmyselfj just do this for 2-4 years straight. It will grow. It’s about being patient & consistent. Take care of your hair like a plant. Don’t ever let it be dried up under your wigs. Make sure to wash those corn rows or flat twists rows every two weeks while they’re in the twists or braids. Leave them in for 2-3 months at a time then do a full take down then re-braid or re-twist your hair. Oil your braids 3-4 a weeks then add on cream based moisturizer then spray leave in conditioner.

    I work in the film industry and I have been doing the 2 strand twist to prep the hair for wig application but I do the front section from ear to ear rather than going back which allows me to secure the wig at the hairline and avoid pinning at the same spot which causes breakage.

      The systems we use in the film industry is vastly different than the system the average person wears and maintains their wigs weather it’s ventilated, wefted, human hair or synthetic hair. I teach the fundamental of working and maintaining a wig to for a realistic and longer life, no need to throw out your wigs. Blond wigs are for when you go to parties, never on a film set unless the character calls for it. As a black woman you were born with black hair so make it look real if you are not using your natural hair colour. Don’t let my skin colour fool you, I was born in Trinidad and had a salon where I serviced all textures of hair before I came to Canada, worked in theatre, Opera and Ballet for many years and transitioned to film because of my knowledge, a wig maker, stylist in contemporary, vintage, Avantguard, and any design you put in front of me. I have trained many who are gainfully employed and heading Hair departments in theatre and Film. You never stop learning, fashion trends evolve every year. I’m a wigmaker taking the time to learn how to do installs as well. As some have mentioned flat twists are less stress on the head. I am a fan of the flat twist method for multiple reasons. For starters, it is less time consuming which is a big plus and also great for those who haven’t quite mastered how to cornrow their hair. Can save you from having to find someone or even tip to do it. It allows you to properly care for your hair more frequently and aids in protecting from less tension. Perhaps my favorite feat is that it enables you to switch up your style more often than wearing braids for weeks or months at a time. If I want to wear a wig, a half wig, ponytail, go natural or try other styles then it gives that ease of versatility and less restricting, allowing more freedom of exploration and expression. Absolutely adore it! and will be using it more often from now on. Thank you for sharing your way of doing this as there are plenty ways out there to fit everyone’s personal preferences and needs. Keep on supporting that thick luscious texture and taking us along on your journey as well. Tfs!

    • @howlovely5424
      @howlovely5424 2 года назад +1

      You are also able to get them as flat as you need them to be depending on thickness and size of twists. Then you can easily take them out at any time and redo or move to the next style. Overall there plenty pros to using this and I just wish I started sooner. I first figured this out around this time last year after cornrowing for so long. I had taken a break from wigs to try other styles and wanted to do a half up half down with a half wig and ponytail combo. I blow dryed and twisted my hair down for the half wig section and it definitely surprised me how flat it was for the style. I think more people should give it a try to see what works best for their texture and help enlighten them about their hair so they don’t feel as limited. It really is so much that can be done with all textures of hair. I love it. May we forever continue to discover, embrace, and uplift the innovation that comes with the beauty that we all behold. It is truly an art form.

      @@SheroiTaylorI'm currently having the same struggle but for a certification course, no unnatural hair colors and I always have color in mine 😭 I don't want to dye over everything and I can't bleach all the color out so I just ordered a lace front wig and I'm starting a learning process. Love the video! I watched a bunch of other tutorials and this way seems so much better. Hope you make it to 100k!

    This vid is old so idk if you may see this comment. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I always tried the hardest to cornrow my hair, and could never get it. I bought a wig to prevent having to comb my 4c hair everyday for school/work (which breaks my hair). I was highkey suffering, not knowing how to do a good foundation for my wig to stay flat. This video is a God-send. Thank you so much❤❤❤
