Melissa George is quite beautiful and so talented. I have Mulholland Drive on DVD and have seen it at least eight times maybe more. She did a great job and really carried the scene.

No, “the girl” was the dark-haired Camilla Rhodes.
I really loved her as Camille Rhodes in Mulholland Drive. The way she looks when she first comes out to sing Every Little Star is so familiar, you can almost see in her face, that she just got off the casting couch.
When she sings, that is the voice of the monster come to destroy Diane. The lyrics are like an arrow aimed at the heart of the dreamer.
I never knew she played Camilla Rhodes even though I saw Mulholland dr. multiple times.
She's such a great storyteller by the way it is admirable the way she talks about Lynch!
Honestly I don't even recognize the Patricia Arquette from lost highway. Even in interviews from the press tour she doesn't look quiet like the way she does in the movie
She is the right one.

Yeah you can feel the magic in the finished movie. Really conveys that otherworldly dream numinosity.

So, if I got it right, she didn't get paid the second time she went in to play her character? I'm confused.
Totally valid question! Considering she had to cut her FAMILY VACATION SHORT and fly from Bali back to Los Angeles, I'm assuming she AT LEAST got paid for airfare etc. Honestly I've been assuming the following:
Assumption #1) she did get paid for this additional work (unless her original contract included some specific amount of extra work if needed?)
Assumption #2) When she said she asked "Do I get anything for that?", she meant something EXTRA, something special from David Lynch himself-for cutting her family vacation short, for flying back to L.A. from Bali on a moment's notice, for coming all that way for just a few minutes worth of work, for that work consisting of uncomfortably long takes of macking on Laura Harring, and for all of this to be going down on her birthday.

Wait hold on a minute..the pilot for Mulholland drive was made for ABC? He went BACK to ABC after they fucked him over with Twin Peaks so many times? Did he honestly believe they would take something from him again if they thought Twin Peaks was too weird and cancelled it? Maybe that's the best he could get? Hm.
He went back to ABC because Bob Iger was a personal friend of his and he probably thought he could still at least get it off the ground. I think David was not very tuned in with how TV had developed at the time and what a hostile environment it was for the kind of artist he was. Bob Iger likely couldn't have done anything with the reputation Lynch had at the time.
The funny thing about "Mulholland Drive" is how little the ABC executives got that the show was a demonization of them. The movie is essentially about how mindlessly corrupt the Hollywood system can be and how it can destroy people's dreams.
