Watched a few interviews of Israeli officials, and former ambassadors today. While some of the questions were semi-tough, the one thing they never asked about was what Israel wants in order to grant freedom and statehood for the Palestinians THAT is the question, it's what this whole conflict is all about! I watch Al-Jazeera every day and check the site, but never saw this series. I'm from NY, living in C. America, and am hyper-curios, so I learn new things every day. Unlike many others, I knew the history of Palestine and how things came to be. Although I love antiquity, (the older, the better), I didn't even think of Gaza as such a rich depository of antiquities; kinda' surprised me. I read and study the Bible, but only recently did I find Gaza in scripture. Seeing those beautiful pieces and thinking they're likely destroyed made me so sad. I've been watching this horror since it began. I've wept, prayed, read, stayed up all hours watching everything that happens, and still I live in a constant state of shock, dismay and heartbreak. Since I left California, I don't meet any Palestinians, Arabs or Persians, but I simply can't help it. To think that in 2005 there was so much hope and in 2007, the hope began to quickly disappear makes my heart scream. I can't think of anything that would make the massacres worse, but learning of what could've been if not for Hamas and Israel, as it sounds, tears my soul apart. I was in the US Army overseas during the Vietnam conflict. I have had reasons to be ashamed of my country but never MORE, than now! Our support and aid to a state committed to the genocide of others is disgusting and shameful. I stand with the Palestinians! If I understand this very complex situation correctly, Hamas came to power because of Israeli oppression and violence against Palestinians. After they took power though, because of their uncompromising behavior, Israel became even more aggressive and oppressive, dashing any hope for a Singapore of the Middle East. But everything leads back to 1948, and even 1917, and the violence and genocide of an indigenous society.

This documentary leaves a lot of unanswered questions: what started the war in 2008? Palestinians were given back Gaza, yet they permitted Hamas to come to power and continue to attack Israel. What good has Hamas done for it's people? Where are the partners for peace? Both sides must agree to each others right to exist. Until then, this madness will continue.
Al jazeera conveniently left out that the primary reason why gaza didn’t become singapore of the middle east as what they aspired to be was because of hamas building terror infrastructure instead of enriching the palestinian quality of life.

Watched a few interviews of Israeli officials, and former ambassadors today. While some of the questions were semi-tough, the one thing they never asked about was what Israel wants in order to grant freedom and statehood for the Palestinians THAT is the question, it's what this whole conflict is all about! Of course, the question would be impossible for Israel to answer because there is NOTHING that will make them agree to this.

This is absolutely heart-breaking. Something similar (though not carpet bombing) happened to the French of New France, now known as “French Canadians”, the ethnic group. I watch Al-Jazeera every day and check the site, but never saw this series. I'm from NY, living in C. America, and am hyper-curios, so I learn new things every day. Unlike many others, I knew the history of Palestine and how things came to be. Although I love antiquity, (the older, the better), I didn't even think of Gaza as such a rich depository of antiquities; kinda' surprised me. I read and study the Bible, but only recently did I find Gaza in scripture. Seeing those beautiful pieces and thinking they're likely destroyed made me so sad.
I've been watching this horror since it began. I've wept, prayed, read, stayed up all hours watching everything that happens, and still I live in a constant state of shock, dismay and heartbreak. Since I left California, I don't meet any Palestinians, Arabs or Persians, but I simply can't help it. To think that in 2005 there was so much hope and in 2007, the hope began to quickly disappear makes my heart scream. I can't think of anything that would make the massacres worse, but learning of what could've been if not for Hamas and Israel, as it sounds, tears my soul apart. The documentary tried to be balanced. But largely internal political discord amd Hamas unfettered aggression has brought alot of pain to these people. Imagine Hamas sued for peace amd focused on development? Ibrahim said it albeit in passing. Hamas made it worse. Soo sad.
The fight between Hamas and Fatah etc. isn't in the forefront.

She completely glosses over the corruption from Hamas and the thousands of rockets they fired on Israel in 2006 after being granted autonomy.
There was no blockade in 2005 but these arrogant snakes in Hamas refused to improve the lives of their people.

I was in the US Army overseas during the Vietnam conflict. I have had reasons to be ashamed of my country but never MORE, than now! Our support and aid to a state committed to the genocide of others is disgusting and shameful. I stand with the Palestinians! One final comment: Israel is no better and perhaps (much) worse than Hamas!

If I understand this very complex situation correctly, Hamas came to power because of Israeli oppression and violence against Palestinians. After they took power though, because of their uncompromising behavior, Israel became even more aggressive and oppressive, dashing any hope for a Singapore of the Middle East. But everything leads back to 1948, and even 1917, and the violence and genocide of an indigenous society.

This documentary leaves a lot of unanswered questions: what started the war in 2008? Palestinians were given back Gaza, yet they permitted Hamas to come to power and continue to attack Israel. What good has Hamas done for it's people? Where are the partners for peace? Both sides must agree to each others right to exist. Until then, this madness will continue.
