Pink Floyd - A Saucerful of Secrets (Celestial Voices, with choir and orchestra)

- This is Celestial Voices, the last section of the suite A Saucerful Of Secrets, played live at Royal Albert Hall the 26th of June 1969, as the last part of the concept gig The Man And The Journey.
To me, this is the most beautiful version of this piece.
It's being played by the Floyd, accompaigned by an orchestra and a choir.
I find it tremendously breath-taking, especially when the choir starts...
Unfortunately, this is the best version circulating, and actually, there is no video shot of the event!
This is the infamous concert that caused a ban to the Floyd, for "damaging" the hall.
During the gig, there was a man masked as a Gorilla, that wandered around making soap bubbles and at the end of Celestial Voices they set off two cannons (you can hear one of them at the end of this track)
Check out the IFWT website for bootleg tradings.

This was one of the piece of music we played for our wedding 50 years ago. This one was played as we came out of the church. We also played the flute part of Grand Vizier garden party after reading a poem by Tagore.
Wow that's SO amazing, cheers from Detroit city!! ✌
Now that's a wedding!!✌🎸
I reach the Universe every time I hear these Cellestial Voices...
I heard something similar on a "white out" dose of magic mushrooms, it was the most euphoric experience I have ever had by far. It was as if my consciousness was transported to a dimension of pure positive energy, sadly I only have hazy memories of it.
Tik
Now that I have heard the most beautiful piece of sound ever, I can just lie down and die.
Wright was the glue of floyd
I wish I could go back to 1969.
Just imagine listening this masterpiece live... daaaam!
Must have been absolutely insane!
rest in peace Richard ....
Such an inspiring musician! He was the first keyboardist who really made me appreciate keys
Terminal Passage same here. he really added magic to the band. miss him.
@@TerminalPassage same for me
This was a most moving experience, at the end the audience would not let them leave the stage, the band were adamant that after this piece of music there was nothing else that would do anything but bring the whole experience down. However after what seemed like 10 minutes of non stop encore demands they relented and played a sublime version of set the controls for the heart of the sun. Richard wright was playing the Royal Albert Hall organ on this.
And instead I went and saw their lousy Brick in the Wall show at Earls Court. Awful.
This sounds far more the real FLoyd.
Bab Boon that was Waters not the Floyd
Yep
This particular performance was special on so many levels, and you can bet that Rick relished the rare opportunity to play on a real pipe organ, especially the one at this legendary venue.
Wow what an absolutely amazing story!!!
Thank you for filling us in on that bit of awesome history!
Is this an album or a bootleg?
REALLY GREAT. THIS IS A REAL WRIGHT & MASON SONG. PINK FLOYD FOREVER
more realistically it's all of them for this one, roger and nick for all of it, dave for most of it, rick just for the end, but his part is definitely the most important
Celestial Voices and A Great Gig in the Sky...most profound among the works by the Floyd....thank you, my most favorite Floyd, Mr Wright~
i have no words to describe this performance. Thank you Pink Floyd for existing
imagine this... but carefully merged with Live at Pompeii... I think the universe would explode
not impossible but very difficult
Yes, not to be undertaken lightly. Too dangerous to mess with reality.
its a neat concept but i thimk the song is awesome how it is
I would love to hear this, meanwhile I'll dream it
Amazing. Absolutely fucking amazing. This version is really powerful and beautiful. This is brilliant!
The Man & The Journey.
Through the Infinity of Space-Time.
This is the song that will be played when the Universe dies.
Unforgettable masterpiece!!!!
Many thanks for putting this one up! It's always been a favourite, and I didn't know this version existed. Wonderful.
Cheers my heart to know that there's a scored tuba part out there, somewhere, for this piece.
Beautiful masterpiece, Thanks for sharing this AWSOME experience with Pink Floyd, RIP MASON
Nick is still alive and kicking
@@Therealderry433 probably a typo bc he meant rick wright
What a performance by The Floyd. It sounds so grand. I'd love to time travel to that performance. Sad that there's no video of it :(
I love The Pink Floyd.
great era....
De mooiste versie ooit - after all those years.
Bisognerebbe mandarla nello spazio.
music of gods
Thank you for sharing
UNICI PINK FLOYD ❤
Celestial Music....
You're completely correct
amazing song!
Cool ! Thank you !!
Beautiful
WOWA !
Cleveland show spectacular when i die i want this played
meraviglia
Whoa, I thought the only existent version of The Man and The Journey was one performed in Netherlands, at the Concertgeboow. Nevertheless, the orchestra and the choirs in this one gives a totally epic vibe
Non.
@@charlesberg6969 - Cool info! Thanks a lot for sharing. 👍👍
too bad they weren't allowed to film this :(
potente!!!
The meaning of life
This is Earth’s planetary anthem
This sounds like Morricone
If the world war III happens, this should be played after it.
Pretty sure Ron Geesen arranged the orchestra and choir arrangement for this. It is very similar to Atom Heart Mother. Man I would have so liked to have seen this preformed live.
Nothing to do with geesin
@joão source?
The problematical wandering creature was not a gorilla but what appeared to be an alien equipped with a water tank built into his costume and an enormous phallus (two hands required) through which he could make the water eject with considerable force over members of the audience!
I will never be able to get that image out of my head
I don't like...
I love.
That's because you have taste.
I have scores of different recordings of "A Saucerful of Secrets," and this is the only one with a choir and orchestra joining Floyd.
There is one (14APR71, Rotterdam) that features Roger doing a "Pict" rant in the part immediately before the "Celestial Voices" part.
That particular one is also the longest known performance of the piece, a whopping 28 minutes long!
brivido.-..
My left ear recognizes the 15khz whine of the horizontal time base of a video signal. Was there ever video associated with this recording?
I always hoped there was a video, but I don't think so. At least, up to now, it hasn't surfaced.
is the album art official or is it taken from something? looks like a cool movie or something
There is no better version than Ummagumma.
Y
Pai
The Early years version does not include the choir or the orchestra
This is the only version with choir and orchestra where actually it is being played in this way.
isn't this the live show that was not allowed to be filmed due to lack of permission ? if yes, then that was a historical mistake!
Random Dude 1.6180339 “Not allowed due to lack of permission” pfahahaha are you high dude?
@William Ruisinger It wasn't at this venue where that happened, though.
The venue where the cinematographer got abruptly booted out during rehearsals was at Royal Festival Hall, not Royal Albert Hall.
@@rainbowbridge4766?????
@@bryan9587 Its really funny 😂
The Man & The Journey, a good buy, this copy not!
Fun fact- Pink Floyd got banned for life at The Royal Albert Hall after this performance for using a pair of Waterloo Cannons at the end of this piece.
not like santa monica
Isn't there a better recording than this?
Such beautiful thing sounding ugly :(
stupid plublic let me listen!!!!
What is plublic?

Really great! But it still doesn't get near to the Live in Pompeii version
Ei manda o Diego falar sério
The live stuff on ummagumma is pretty terrible. Bombastic not fantastic. Aside from astronomy domine. Pompeii best versions. But I do like this version with full brass and choir
ummagumma is the worst of the discography to be fair
we don't talk about the endless river
I love me some Pompeii, but I still love the live half of Ummagumma, certainly more so than nearly all of the studio half.
I disagree. I think the live side of Ummagumma rocks.
@@User-xw6kd Agreed
"Astronomy Domine" is particularly nice, although nearly identical to the scores of bootlegs of live performances of it out there.
Bloodestbath Bill can you call yourself a fan after that?
ATOM HEART MOTHER not Saucerful of secrets
Are you slow?
@@bryan9587 Similar, but NOT The same. are you ? Different chords different melody what are you fuckign deaf.
Hey from which bootleg did you take this? My version of The Man And The Journey doesn't have this version, its a concert in the Netherlands, broadcasted in the radio, but it still has the same cover, as the photo in your video..
He just used the cover from the Great Dane CD for a nice background for a completely different performance.
btw...I also have the Great Dane CD, although a much better recording (pre-FM) from the exact same performance surfaced 15-20 years ago that was on many downloadable bootleg recordings, finally getting an official release on Pink Floyd's "The Early Years" box set.
